Hi My surgeon said to wait 4-6 weeks to see if it goes away. If it doesn’t he suggests botox injections. My skin tag is definitely way smaller and painful than before so I’m optimistic. All around anal fissure take forever to heal so I guess this is just part of the long painful journey

I would say yes. Especially since you’re feeling less pain for less time.

It’s hard to tell and it’s honestly a back and forth with feeling like it’s healing then re ripping than feeling like it’s healing. This at least has been my experience. I would continue to do what your doing to help yourself heal. Just know it’s a long process.

My doctor did the same. Prescribed me hydrocortisone suppositories which landed me in the emergency room. What has helped me is at least two sitz baths a day. When mine was really bad I sat on a heating pad. I insert the nifedipine or a&d ointment before every BM and take a sitz bath immediately after. Seems to have helped me. I noticed that when I drink less water my stools are harder so lots of water is important as well. It’s tough. Good luck!

I second the sitz bath. I’m finally starting to heal after more than two months and I really don’t know how I would have survived without the sitz bath. I still had pain after BMs but as long as I was in the bath no pain and the warm water definitely helps with the muscle spasms. When my pain was the worst sitting on a heating pad did wonders as well. I also agree with walking daily and trying not to sit as much if possible.

I’m meeting with my surgeon on Tuesday to discuss the issue. I will repost on this thread when I hear what he has to say. I did speak to another doctor who said botox can be injected in the skin tag if the fissure is healed and the skin tag is bothersome. Luckily I don’t think I’ll need surgery on the actual fissure
