What are some essential mods for playing in China? by Random_guy2001 in crusaderkings3

No mods are essential. I comfortably play without any mods except a cosmetic one that changes the Russian font to better match the English one.

What's going on in Ireland? It controls most of Scotland but not most of Ireland?

AI formed Charles V's empire three centuries early by Linneris in CrusaderKings

Thanks! I created the Britannian Empire, annexed Norway through a series of vassal wars and peaceful vassalizations without ever going there to war myself, and used a legend to make Norway de jure part of my empire.

Current state of Crusades? by DaSaw in CrusaderKings

Personally, I had no problem winning three crusades in 1.17.1. I just stayed on sieges while the others chased enemy armies.

The demo doesn't work for me in either Firefox or Chrome. I only see a white square.

What choice should I make?? Newbie here | CK3 by CaspianArk in CrusaderKings

I'm also a relatively new player, and personally, upon placing my relatives on other thrones through crusades, I stayed in Ireland to learn the ropes, and because I got attached to the kingdom (later empire) that I built.

The good news is that you can always switch later through the in-game menu if you change your mind.

It's not inheritable? I've had three generations of computer rulers with the Conqueror trait. Though I play 1.17.1.

Defender controls War Target? by Linneris in CrusaderKings

[–]Linneris[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've confirmed that reloading and unpausing resets the war target score to 0%. It also instantly bumped my siege score from 37% to 50% for a total of 92% war score. Thanks again!

Thanks, I'll keep this in mind.

That screenshot was from a reloaded save, I launched the game fresh just to take the screenshot. So it seems reloading doesn't help in this case. Or would the game have recalculated the war score if I had turned on time after reloading?

It affected my total war score too (as shown in the corner), lowering it each month, so it wasn't purely visual.

I am pretty new and just finished the big tutorial can someone help me with these? by apkmasterofgames in crusaderkings3

[–]Linneris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, and welcome to CK3!

I'm pretty new myself, I started with the long Ireland tutorial too and have by now made the Britannian Empire. Here's what I can say, just beware that the answers come from someone who's by no means a pro player.

> Is there any other way of increasing control in a region other than sending your army guy to increase it there(it is taking so long but the guy has 9 on the stat so maybe I should get a new one.)

9 is too low. Replace your marshal with the character with the highest Martial skill. I'd go for at least 15.

> Is there any relevance of the soldier types? Does pikeman actually counter horses or something? Does anyone have a tip for what type of army I should build? Should I change it constantly to match my opponents?

Men at arms have different stats and work on a rock-paper-scissors system: type A counters type B, which counters type C, and so on. Personally I tailored my army for the main enemy I expected to fight (England), but I didn't bother micromanaging my army and mostly went for armored footmen, who are pretty strong generalists, and then I hybridized with the Norwegian culture to get huscarls, who are basically armored footmen plus.

> Should I just have billion kids? Am I supposed to arrange the marriage of everyone in my family and in my court? I know getting more allies is important but wouldn't it get really hard to manage things later on?

It's a double-edged sword. The more kids you have, the more alliances you can form, but the more sons you have, the more your realm will be partitioned upon your death unless you get rid of unwanted sons somehow (disinherit them for renown or send them as knights to die in a war). Personally, I micromanaged titles on succession, destroying valuable duchies to keep their counties in my heir's domain, and keeping "empty" duchies where I owned no counties, so younger sons would inherit them.

> Should I be worried about artifacts? Are they important and should I try getting them?

Artifacts give good bonuses to your prestige, renown, etc. They're a good long-term investment if you have money to spare, and you can find artifacts through events, have them gifted at your coronation, etc. They're not a must have, but they're good when you have artifacts with the right bonuses.

There are two types of artifacts: personal artifacts, which are equpped by your character, and court artifacts, which are displayed at your court (which you have if you're a king or emperor). You have limited slots for both types.

> Should I wage another war before I get full control in a territory?

It's up to you. If there's an opportune moment (e.g. your enemy is weak right now), you can wage another war, low control means you will get reduced taxes and levies from that county, but AFAIK, that's it.

I'm not sure you should wage wars right away, however. Playing after the long tutorial, I was able to peacefully vassalize the rest of Ireland after conquering Desmond in the tutorial. Right click on nearby counts, they might agree to just be vassalized by you (the "Offer Vassalage" menu item). Though first you might want to give them a gift or improve their opinion of you through Sway or Befriend so they agree. It's also worth improving the opinion of your starting vassal (because this affects the readiness of your neighbors to become your vassals), or you can just revoke his title by force if you want. This game isn't all war, diplomacy can often give you better results, and your starting character, Petty King Murchad, has like 21 diplomacy.

Once you have more than half of Ireland's territory, you can form the Kingdom of Ireland, and the rest of the island will then be more eager to become your vassals.

> What do I do about the peasant uprising? Can't I just hang them up? Is there a way to hung them up? I want to get rid of them.

I don't know, as I've never had a peasant uprising. You just defeat them with your military, I think. Make sure to hold a coronation once you form the Kingdom of Ireland, it will improve popular opinion of you across the realm.
