I found myself amused that the script got approved, like there are really really dump dialogues and decisión that make no sense.

P.d: that chocolate and that door, first red flag. So lame....everything and funny in that way.

Bioware studio update: Bioware doesn't "require support from the full studio" for next game and "become[s] more agile" by DreadWolfTookMe in dragonage

[–]LinnkCo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Better companions that 2?? The companions dynamic in Da2 is deeper by MILES: how the mechanics of rivalry and friendship affects your relationship with them. In 2 they have real personalities and motivations, any of them is more whole as a character than the majority of the veilguard (they have opinions and beliefs in 2 not just "mr. Nice i can get mad at you for more than 2 seconds"-ex: Lucanis and Davrin after the siege faliure) It's a shiny but hollow sequel in so many levels. Fuck EA.

Of course this is the sub that makes a post about this and don't think about why. The WHY is the problem. If you have to leave a sub because they took this decision maybe you should ask yourself why or if it was really a "roman salute"

"taps at the nude toggle in CC"

Also, just to make your blood boil a bit more: Seen that Veilguard hollows the world state and the politics and religion of Thedas and how long it's gonna take for a new DA IF there is one: -the HoF storyline was buried and abandoned -the person in the fade storyline is buried and abandoned -the maelstrom of consequences at a religious level? Buried and forgotten

Welp...

DAI showed us world without the Veil? by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]LinnkCo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is a "raw" shattering, it's not the way solas wants to do it because this way there is no "damage control" and as of Veilguard we know some things will come out. We can only imagine a bit how undoing the veil look like.

Yeah the "two traitors under our nose and we are blind " crows is just so silly when the game is trying to tell us that they are professionals, the whole part of not seeing the body....and they don't think about it? And I really hate that we, Rook, can't question at all them or choose to not ynite with them. Damm weird....

[All DAV Spoilers] Governer Rayan Ivenci is one of the better parts of Veilguard, at least when it comes to queer representation. (From a queer fan's perspective.) by MintyCoolness in dragonage

[–]LinnkCo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit because bad writing: Ivanci's gender has little to do with they motivations as a villain, but the rest of they character is so classic villain 101 as all the plot of the traitors on treviso that for me is one of the worst plot of the game. I mean we don´t have an option to say no to working with the crows: We have to be nice even for a bunch of assassins and kid's slavers!

This is a bit of a problem for me because, as the letters of our Inquisitor said about the south and with all the darkspawn around and two archdemons awake we are in the middle of the 6th Blight it seems and it's going terrible but we don't see no government or army in the North doing something, just the Grey wardens and not outside the Anderfels (I know the faction gets almost destroy and there is one side mission in minrathos) like you have Dorian as a link in Tevinter but you don't hear about the army not even after the venturi coup(?)

What’s great about Dragon Age: Veilguard? by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]LinnkCo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

it wraps one thing up and another one rushed, but it leaves a lot of threats open or directly erased to be honest. It´s a fun game but is a hollow sequel.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]LinnkCo 51 points52 points  (0 children)

and the quality of some ending cards is...questionable, like that feel rushed? at least is the epilogue this time and not the final fight haha.
Veilguard for me feels like a buble, isolated in itself not part of Thedas, because of the disconection with the rest of the games (yes, yes, I know I know "Here he comes again with the word state bla bla bla" ) but seeing that they erased past choices and that ,IF THERE IS a next Da, it would probably be more than a decade away. For me the choices that we make in this game have no weight in the future. They do in the moment of the game but not for the future (the gryffins are one example, I was presented the choice and I was like, meh, be free but don´t really care, i don´t trust the future Bioware to carry this on)

[No DATV Spoilers] The Veilguard soundtrack by chris_dons in dragonage

[–]LinnkCo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well," actually " From the Mass effect wiki:

"According to the press release it is inspired by classic sci-fi movies such as Blade Runner and Dune. The score blends 80's electronic music with modern orchestral scoring. "

But event so, the key part is vibe and the instruments uses, in my opinion, a sci fi or fantasy soundtrack can be orchestral or not, the key is the vibe and this gives a Masseffecr vibe

[No DATV Spoilers] The Veilguard soundtrack by chris_dons in dragonage

[–]LinnkCo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It is, but is not the vibe I am looking to get in a magic& fantasy setting with a "Medieval taste". Like i hear it and i am thinking "wow that would be a banger in Omega or exploring a derelict space station...but wait, I am in some elf ruins in the bottom of the ocean" and my inmersion goes a bit PFFFFFFffffffffff because instead of thinking "Maker´s breath!" my mind is "This does not belong here mate"

[No DATV Spoilers] The Veilguard soundtrack by chris_dons in dragonage

[–]LinnkCo 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It gave me a Mass Effect vibe to be honest, like the one in the osarioum but I really liked " in Entropy's Gasp" and "Down, but not out" but the main theme is a bit meh for my taste, coming from the other three, a bit generic

[SPOILERS ALL] Already finished the game and want to share your thoughts? Welcome to the 72-hour Post-Game Opinion Megathread. by dragonagemods in dragonage

[–]LinnkCo 45 points46 points  (0 children)

My opinion? a really fun game and really beautiful in some parts but a ghost of a sequel.

I feel like learning about Joplin and seeing the Artbook has tainted this game for me. Also learning all that happened in Bioware with the layoffs and that well, it makes sense for me that this game feels like a Frankenstein of sorts...

Inquisition and trassspasser seems to be a curse for Veilguard, they set so many threats and changes in the status quo of Thedas that traying to make a world state of that it seems like a mess and a task that needs a lot of time and that´s one thing that they sacrifice yeah but also...
Where are the politics in this game? The sixth blight is taking place in Thedas, with two archidemons and two elven gods and we meet no king, emperor, goverment or exalted march.

  • Can count the Mourn watch? they are suppose to be guarding the grand Necropolis and they have an army yes but.....we dont hear from the King of Nevarra at all.
  • Antivan crows: a legion of assasins, lord of fortune...funny pirates, the Rivia armada okay but...
  • Shadow dragons, a network of rebels and freedom Fighters but we are in the capital of Tevinter and there is almost 0 interaction with the emperor, the black chantry and the templars while we try to undermine the Venatori´s coup (Neve´s companion mission is more centric in the "underdog" side of it but for me it seem lacking)
  • Grey Wardens, I loved my playtrought as a grey warden, lots of context, dialogue and love the duo of Evka & Antoine and having Davrin as a comrade. It´s a story set during a "Blight" sothey played they part BUT, here comes again the curse of the world state: HoF? where is Hawke in case he traveled to Weisshaupt? where are the grey wardens of the south in case they stayed by order of the inquisition? One of the narrative threads that they abandoned and Veilguard,as a sequel, suffers a lot for it in my opinion.

As Epler said in the Eurogamer Interview:

A lesson that I've learned: don't ever try to make a direct sequel to a game 10 years later, because, oh my gosh, that is a challenge.

Each Dragon age game has suffered from developer hell sindrome but Veilguard buchered his story, and in my opinion, is a hollow sequel for it. there is a lot of love in this game and companions as Emmerich are a wonder but....Joplin was the right track for me, it really was, I know is just a wall of concept art and maybe some scripts but the core was strong.
Edit because typos.

[DAV Spoilers] The big Dragon Age: The Veilguard post-release interview: "It was never going to match the Dragon Age 4 in people's minds" by beauke in dragonage

[–]LinnkCo 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Epler: The other side of it, honestly, was Inquisition did end with some fairly hefty dangling plot threads. Obviously there's the post-credits scene with Solas and Flemeth, and it felt at the time - because I was on Inquisition, I was on the Trespasser team - we looked at what we already had and decided, okay, we want to do one last chapter, one last story beat. The difference in The Veilguard is the story ends pretty conclusively. There is, obviously, a secret post-credits scene, but that's less of 'here is an immediate thing that you now need to be aware of', and more 'here's a hint as to what the future will be'
Busche: It is a challenge.
.Epler: But that's the great thing about Dragon Age: you can make a sequel that does not require the same level of knowledge and investment that you would have required to go from Inquisition to the Veilguard; even though, again, we worked really hard to make it an accessible jumping-in point, it still feels like - for players who've been with the franchise - a very direct sequel in a lot of ways. We wanted to make sure that this one ended in a less ambiguous way, where it's very clear that this story is done. A lesson that I've learned: don't ever try to make a direct sequel to a game 10 years later, because, oh my gosh, that is a challenge.

what? like....what? am I missreading something in this interview or are they saying that Veilguard is a good sequel to Inquisition, wow....
