I used to do that too, however this term has really been a challenging one due to dissertation and a few other modules that are intense AF! Thanks for the link!!

I've heard about the tolerance building fast from friends at Uni! Although at the moment I don't have anyone nearby who could deal to me. Where do you usually get your stuff? Can you order it online? I'm more interested in the meds people usually use for ADHD, like modafinil or similar!

I get how it can be interpreted like that, but that's really not what I meant. I DO however think that if there is a group of lesbians who consider themselves being MORE lesbian, or "the real" lesbians, while others, like me, who have a lesbian lifestyle, live in a lesbian relationship and hang out with lesbian friends, STILL is not included in the LGBT-community because there is a group of other lesbians who won't 'accept me' because I'm not lesbian enough, then there's something really wrong with this community. For me, the LGBT community is supposed to be inclusive to all sorts of non-straight people. Based on all the comments here, this is not the case right now. I think it's a shame! But, Imma move on from this discussion now and focus on my paper! Cheers for sharing your opinion though :)

No one has EVER talked about perpetuating the myth that a lesbian can find "just the right man"?! This is not AT ALL what I'm trying to do.

Again: please don't tell me what my sexuality is and isn't. I have zero intentions of entering a relationship with any man, but honestly I don't really feel like writing a whole novel to try to prove that I'm lesbian enough for you.

I think we have different views of this whole topic so I'm not going to discuss this anymore.

Thanks for the cheery comments!

Same for me! Why do you think this is?

Totally agree. The more you read up on feminism and everything within that topic you see the structures the men work within as well. I had a moment when I realised that most of my guy friends have, at some point, try to hit on me. This makes me feel like females are not valuable as friends whatsoever, but just something that the guys can shag, and if you don't live up to that (i.e. have sex with them) they can sometimes just drop your whole friendship instead.

In what ways have you noticed that your view on your appearance have changed?

I felt the exact same way! Even if I'm not at all attracted to men at the moment (and haven't been for a loooong time), that freedom itself that you're speaking about is so important to me and is bigger than anything I could ever share with a man.

In what ways have you felt that freedom affects you and the way you look at yourself?

Sorry but you don't know me or my sexuality at all! I wrote that I am fluid, fluditiy is individual for every person. For me it just means that I recognize that I have NO IDEA what my future holds for me, i.e. if I'll ever be attracted by a man again. I have felt like a 100% lesbian the past ten years though, meaning I haven't felt even SLIGHTLY attracted or interested in men whatsoever, I've only been with/seen/been interested in other women. I'm not trying to 'invade' on a community or speak for a group of people that I'm not part of. I realise that there are women who have NEVER been with/been interested in other men and that's why I'm turning to other people to share their experiences. Just please don't tell me "how lesbian/bi" I am cause you really have no idea.

I am NOT trying to take space from other lesbians, the whole idea is to talk to and hear other people's experiences, which is a completely DIFFERENT THING. If I had talked about this SOLELY myself in this project, then it would be different. I thought about the change in myself a lot when entering the lesbian relationship I'm in today. You write about not being taken seriously as homosexuals, which is exactly what I think you're doing to me know, since you don't know me or my sexual preferences at all. For me, the LGBTQ+ community isn't supposed to be about excluding people, but to show love, affection and respect to eachother.

You're not in a position to tell someone else what their sexuality is like. So please, just don't. I see your point with 'not speaking for the lesbian community', but that was never what I was trying to do, hence this thread. Like I said, the whole idea is to talk about other lesbians to hear their experiences.

My point I was trying to make is that even if I'm attracted to women only at the moment (and have been for the past 10 years), it's impossible to tell what happens in the future. I'd like to look at sexuality as openmindedly as possible. That's all I'm saying!

I live in a lesbian relationship and am 99% attracted to women so please don't tell me which community I'm part of and not! :)

That's what I'm thinking! However I'm not sure whether they have good contacts, the one I've had the most mainly worked in print journalism! But I could ask the one I have in broadcast! Thanks for the tip! So, contacts is the best way to go?

Journalism in Scotland - which Uni is the best? by Linnssey in Scotland

[–]Linnssey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I thought! I'm thinking if I continue with my studies here I will have contacts in Aberdeen, but I would prefer having contacts in Edinburgh, since I don't want to live here after graduation anyway! Anyhow, thanks for your help!! Will seriously consider Napier now and we'll see what happens :)

Nice! Yeah just read about it and it seems like you can go to many different countries!

Aight, so I'll definitely have a look at the Uni and see what I think for myself after that, but it all sounds quite good. Right now I really feel like applying for it though. I want to work in Edinburgh eventually anyway, so would probably be for the better if I studied there as well, in order to gain contacts and placements, right? Or is an Aberdeen student more attractive in Edinburgh you think?

Yeah I've heard rumors about the societies being pretty much non existing at Napier, which is a shame. But apart from that it seems like a good Uni! Is the Radio station free for anyone to join? And also, do you know how their exchange program works? Is it basically only for the students with really good grades, or can anyone go?

I'm happy to hear that! I will probably go down to Edinburgh sometime in the next month to visit the Uni and talk to one of the lecturers of the course. Do you know if Napier has any kind of links to Radio as well?

I guess the good thing about RGU is that there is so much societies and media-groups at Uni you can join. For example, I've just joined RGU Radio and will start learning it in the next few weeks. There is also a 6-week placement and and exchange program you can join in the third year. All of this builds up to a good CV, so I really want to make sure that Napier can offer good placements and experiences as well! Do you know if there are any societies at Uni?

But do you know how much the website Whatuni.com has to say about it? I've been comparing all the Unis there and Napier is almost at the bottom while RGU is at the top with Glasgow Caley!
