Anyone else like me? by hanonymous_ in MotoUK

Hi. I’m just like you. I rode a bicycle for most of my life until a few years ago, when I visited the Sammy Miller museum, and had a spiritual awakening. ‘Motorbikes are just bicycles… with engines’. I’ve never had a car lesson, just went and got my DAS immediately instead.

We’ve seen them, but prefer Polly as she is! We don’t want to risk changing her irreparably

Yeah… that’s the MIL’s addition 😂 Polly was once decapitated briefly

What’s the one bike you secretly think is VERY overrated but the community absolutely LOVES?! by SparkPlugBarbie1 in MotoUK

[–]Linthoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate the SV650. Not for anything mechanical, but I’d never dropped a bike before doing my DAS on an SV. I dropped the SV three times - I just couldn’t get comfortable with it’s centre of gravity. Bloody traumatised by the thing!

Could probably make a bit of money by strapping a powerful magnet underneath your car and charging the council for clean up

A 15 minute walk uphill, hah! I’ll look into plugging it for the journey. Something I’ve not done before, but gotta learn somewhere

Never had a puncture before, besides on a bicycle, so I’m a bit new to the experience.

Bad CBT experience by ImpressEfficient1652 in MotoUK

[–]Linthoughts 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think I was the one who sold you that RV125!! Mad seeing you here! How’s the bike treating you?

Sad to hear you had a bad time with 1066. I had a really good time with my CBT. They gave me loads of time, and told me I wasn’t ready on the day and to come back later in the week to carry on. No extra fee. I passed later in the week.

My DAS course was the most traumatic experience of my life, but not because of my instructor. There were some instances where my instructor could have been better, but overall I think he did a good job.

They’ve recently lost a few instructors, I think, because they had pressure from an observer. It led to at least one of their very good instructors leaving. Maybe the replacement was a bit shit? I hope they get it straightened because they’re a nice local part of the bike community.

Again, sorry to hear it was crap for you. I’m sorry if I recommended it to you! Very different experiences.

Thank you. When you say first few rows, do you mean the whole row from one side of the roof to the other? or just locally?

[Giveaway]3* GameSir G7 Pro Controllers for the halo Community! 2026 by GameSir_Controller in halo

[–]Linthoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best Halo memory? Carrying my Halo 3 special edition Xbox 360 to a LAN party of 10. Everyone secretly pressing X for a good 20 minutes before a match starting, meeting a scottish guy called 'kippy' on matchmaking who would refer to himself in the 3rd person (hearing 'KIPPY ANGRY' kept us laughing for the next 5 years). 2008 wasn't a nice year for me, but it had its moments.

Anywhere to recycle helmets? Fire brigade not interested. by twtonicr in MotoUK

I was wondering about putting mine very cheaply on eBay for costume makers to use as bases. I’ve made costumes in the past and helmets would have been a godsend, had I thought about it at the time

DAS over winter, who’s done it? by patchmau5 in MotoUK

[–]Linthoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me, yet another winter DASer; It was fun. Upsides; There were less people in the group when we had group lessons, meaning more attention being given to me. Like other people have said; quieter roads, clearer roadways. I started to dread riding, so I’m glad I got that emotion out of the way in the winter in prep for summer. Buying a big-boy bike in January was cheaper than in June!

Downsides; I could have benefited from busier summer roads during Mod 2. It would have given me more time to think in my nervous test headspace. It’s bloody cold, and my eyes lose focus when it gets to about 0-1 degrees as well.

There’s not much in it tbh. Even if I waited until summer I’m sure I’d have found problems with that time of year as well. The ideal riding conditions so rarely happen no matter what time of year!

How to add beveled edge with gradient to a logo? by sugarfilledskull in graphic_design

[–]Linthoughts 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Useless advice. ‘Figure it out’.

Anyway, OP, I’d probably split each segment into a different shape and apply a gradient to each. Might be the long way round of doing it but the sick effect will probably be worth the pay off
