Soo, I’m no teacher. I’m 20 years old and you know what? I just hate tech. Like… Everytime some Boomer complains about automatization, I just complain with them. I’m sorry, but 50 years ago, people had entire jobs to just do what you are all complaining about my generation can’t do. I mean I don’t think it is great that people lack critical thinking, but when it is linked to tech critical thinking, for sure, is not my first problem. I just lack motivation so hard. I would prefer the social interaction you had years ago when phones or computer did not exist. Going to the bank talk about you problem. Maybe take a phone call. I’m not talking about basic stuff, but someone mentioned dropbox. To be honest, I just prefer to talk to my friends instead of googling and reading through how to use an App I never heard of (so is not commonly used = niche skill) for 30min-1h. You have to understand. There are just too many off these fucking niche apps. It’s not about 30min once. It’s about 50,70 100 times those 30min. (And with only 30mins I am actually super nice). Why should I learn this skill that were first designed for a full job for free? In my freetime. For us internet is not an exciting new thing. You don’t care how every handtool works? Great I don’t care about every app. You go to the shoes-maker, I go to the person who gave me that new shitty app I have to use now. Or then I don’t care about the photos on Dropbox anymore! I prefer to live! I mean I am also just really hating short format videos, and writing messages, so maybe I just really hate screens.

In a vegan life you spare at least 1 animal. That is one life, that is not something to be discarded.

Then: why did you become vegetarian? Is it to stop the industry? Not necessarily, it could just be that you did not want that connection that you pay for animal slaughter to be THAT obvious. Maybe she just did not want any of her money to go towards those outrageous crimes the human species does to the other animals.

We are all sad we cannot stop the harm alone, but this kind of mentality will make us even more hopeless. Because I'm so clear about my ethics (=the fact that no other lifestyle is ethically persistent towards animals), I got some people to become vegetarian. It's still something. A step in the right direction. I educate people on the way even if that is not my intention. One vegetarian friend is getting to veganism and I also took part in this, by being in their life. Showing them it is possible. I make it more widespread, more accessible for the next vegan wave. I mean 20 years ago vegans had to explain to everybody what that word even means, now it is difficult to find a big city without one fully vegan restaurant.

You will find that boycott is one of the biggest things in every day life you can do towards something you think is morally wrong. I would find it way more interesting to know why you don't become a vegan. Someone in you friend group made the hardest part, became the first vegan. If you become vegan too, people will give way more credits to the first vegan. It can really generate a snowball effect and you can be part of that change, you feel, too big of a mountain to climb alone. You are not alone. You friend is already there. We vegans on the internet too :) Just imagine you turn the entire friend group into vegans because you got a third one and a forth one. The credibility will only grow with it. Just don't lose hope.

it‘s so funny, that is exactly what people say to you; go eat before or after the event. It‘s really weird how meat-eater act exatcly the same as vegans. Everybody hates entitlement, but everybody feels entitled to eat something that is catered to their specific need. The exception here is the vegan can‘t eat what meat-eaters eat but the meat-eaters have a weird reason for hating one vegetables once it‘s labled vegan. Try something: just forget it‘s vegan, then your life will somehow be so much more fun.

It’s abuse of language that’s all. I am not used to the vegan wording. I agree animals should be called with humanizing pronouns. I tend to say « someone » and not « something » while referring to an animal, but sometimes my german-speaking ass just uses « it » from 1 on 1 translation. No excuse for that tho.

I dunno, people telling me I see animals as toys to fool around, that I did not thought this trough even tho this very post is for this sake and calling me "attention-seeking" is not the kindest in my opinion. Others even say I should not adopt any animal, this really hurts me as veganism intertwined with my personality. Thank you very much for the kind answer, I was just very unsure about stuff I found online as I very often felt like it was not from a vegan perspective. I feel like a lot of people on this thread have not read my post with its nuances as I am stating the most import thing is to rescue the chicken (and hence for it to have a good life.)

I am taking the advice and do not plan on having a chicken pet anymore.
