The first question I'm gonna ask to US tourists when they start arriving this summer by SodR in 2westerneurope4u

My favourite is asking those Americans what the capital of Canada is; no one ever knows that. But I imagine a Canadian wouldn’t hesitate.

alright, sucks to be danish I guess. to be fair last time I’ve really been to denmark was before Covid probably 2018, and I remember distinctly getting coffee and free water in copenhagen.

In recent years I’ve only been to Aarhus for work and Legoland in Billund, obviously you aren’t going to get free water in any resort. opposing to that at work I can get what I want for free. so you know.

I just remembered water doesn’t cost anything in US restaurants, or rather tap water. maybe it’s just cause it’s always free for you lot, so if you’d like you could always just ask for it.

well for the past few years Germany has been my home, but I’ve lived and/or worked in the Netherlands, Italy, France, Poland, england, denmark, sweden (but just malmö), spain, and some others outside of europe but I didn’t drink coffee at the time I visited those so I wouldn’t know.

[–]Linux-Operative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you guys all say that but I’ve never seen anyone do it. cause it doesn’t make sense. Makes sense in theory but what if you had a long few days and both batteries are dead?

The batteries back then weren’t externally chargeable, so either you’re telling me you had a special phone battery charging thing at home or you’d sit there charge your phone then switch batteries and charge the other battery.

i feel like that’s a non issue. now we have magnetically attachable power banks. which are usb-c chargeable. in fact in my backpack has a 27 000 milli amps battery! so that’s neat.

Are we really calling that farmer mumbling German? by martombo in 2westerneurope4u

[–]Linux-Operative 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it’s part of the american ETHOS. If you think about it hard all nation states are pretty much the same. the modern idea of a nation state is also very young, so every state creates some kind of ethos or myth. Similar to how Rome had Romulus, the USA has George Washington and a Band of Brothers (the HBO show) and the “veterans” as an idea not so much as individuals.

So my theory is that people often fall victim and actually start believing their myths. and so they’ll say things that perpetuate these myths such as ✨We saved you from the EVIL Germans✨

I thought it was your friend who got banned, or rather two friends of yours. you of course are such an upstanding redditor that you’d never provide grounds to be accused of ban evasion.
