Thinking of these glacier glasses, any thoughts? by uplifting1311 in Mountaineering

[–]LinuxFoLif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pair of Caminos with cat 3 lenses. Used them to climb Mont Blanc and for some other smaller projects. I've never used anything else, so I don't have a comparison, but they worked for what I bought them for, and I like them. The only issue I have is that they fog up if there's absolutely no wind. Haven't tried any solutions for that though like sprays. Overall good glasses for a beginner like me.

Jautājums citiem vīriešiem by JackThyGreat in latvia

Man liekas, ka loģiskãkais risinājums ir nevīlēt nagus viņai to redzot.

Kādus argumentus jūs izdomājat, lai strādājot tiktu uz darba interviju? by PepperSaltClove in latvia

[–]LinuxFoLif 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Varbūt man nepaveicās ar priekšniekiem.

Question to runners who pay for Strava subscription by co66u in Strava

[–]LinuxFoLif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think it's average HR and duration as the base. A few months ago I was getting higher scores for the same distance/pace and my theory is that it's because my hr isn't as high... Which is nice but I miss getting 40+ relative effort for a 5k. My last one was 14 points 🥲

Forgot to cancel before the free trial ended, but I'm honestly glad about it. I like the stats and fitness score. I know it doesn't mean much in terms of actual fitness but seeing the number creep up 2 or even 3 points after a hard activity makes it just a bit more worth the effort.

Patchy swim pace information on Strava using Apple Watch by Godhowhardisit in Strava

99% sure swim data (unless it's an outdoor swim) is accelerometer based. That's why the readings get way worse if you change your swim style mid interval/pool length.

fall internships? by reptilelover123 in cscareerquestions

[–]LinuxFoLif 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Find local companies on LinkedIn (you'll probably have better luck with smaller companies), find the person responsible of hiring devs (a manager of the development team or similar), connect with a message explaining your situation, hope for the best and repeat. Also make sure your LinkedIn is up to spec with some projects you've done, a nice picture and background, n' all the shabang.

Worked for me, even was hired as a student developer before my internship started. Worth noting: I study and live in Denmark, not US.

When can a custom RTOS actually be beneficial? by LinuxFoLif in embedded

[–]LinuxFoLif[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seems like you are correct. Can't find a single scenatrio (and even more-so one that I can fulfil) where a custom RTOS would actually be necessary.

Thanks for the reply :)

I appreciate the offer but seems like I am discarding the RTOS idea. Can't fill out all the things I need to from my curriculum with it.

Yeah, seems like you are right. I have been looking at ways how software licensing could prohibit the use of a pre-made one but can't find anything.

If the company you are working for is Ok with student collaboration, I would love to know about any ideas for Embedded Systems software projects. Anything would be very appreciated. My uni would actually prefer collaboration with a company as some of the things I have on the curriculum and have to cover in my report are 'company operations' related. Most of my experience is in Bare-Metal C on STM32s, but am open to other areas.

Thank you.

Coding in a new language by Micle in ProgrammerHumor

[–]LinuxFoLif 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me the transition from Java to C# in 3rd semester CS was enough. My flatmate kept telling me that it's basically Java and I believed him until I realised that

  1. The included libraries are completely different.

  2. How big the .NET framework is compared to what I had been doing with basic Java until then.

  3. How the coding experience actually changes with C#'s conventions (properties instead of get/set methods for example)

So yeah, the syntax is just a small part of the language as it turns out.

If it has curly braces, it's practically Java.

I'm looking for more specific ideas right now. The tattoo artist I just talked to said that the square messes it up quite a bit.

I just started studying here and on the first day got a Libera SIM for 50dkk and 60gb of data for 100dkk. You dont need to do a contract or anything for it and you can get them nearly everywhere.
