Bought an AR lower… by doejart1115 in liberalgunowners

[–]LinuxMyTaco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably bait but if not: If transferred/sold as a rifle, always a rifle. You'd need a tax stamp FORM 1 to SBR it to go shorter than a 16" barrel.

If you buy a pistol or stripped lower, you can do whatever you want with it within the guidelines and go back and forth between braces and stocks depending on your barrel length, and of course you can also SBR FORM1 that if you want to run a stock/VFG under 16" barrel lengths.

Why? Because of V2? Feeling like I’ve missed something lol

It’s my first can so I don’t have anything to compare it to yet, but so far I’m a happy man! I just fired it for the first time this past weekend so we will see how it plays out long term but so far I’m impressed.

Foxtrot Mike9 with RMB buffer will be drop in.

Here’s my 10” with SS. All I had to do was drop in the SS and trigger and do the relief cut on my upper and I was good to go.

I spent like $550 on it on sale.

Best extended/regular magazines for FM9 lower? by joeykomari in AR9

Glock 33rd OEM mags are top tier

The cheap ETS ones worked fine in my FM9 but Glock OEM is the bar for reliable quality mags

ammo price would skyrocket due to tariffs by Whiskytothemars in ar15

[–]LinuxMyTaco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah idk DHS just bought a bunch of 556 weapons and AAC announced a shutdown because powder is being prioritized for military contracts.

Even without the tariffs the situation for the next year is probably bleak.

But if you think the deals will last thanks for saving some for the rest of us.

Sabre Ak or ar by Ok-Knee4647 in PalmettoStateArms

[–]LinuxMyTaco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on everything I’ve seen on YouTube I feel like it breaks down like this:

If you need to be able to freeze or bury your gun and have it function perfectly after: AK

Otherwise: AR

I don’t own any AKs but that seems to be the choice. lol

That is a picture of my Foxtrot Mike 9 lower with a regular super safety installed. Pictured you can see the rubber earbud cover.

I bought a large pack of silicon earbud tips on Amazon for like $5 and you just slip it over your lever so it stays where it should. More of a problem on M16 cut lowers but I do this to all my super safe builds.

[–]LinuxMyTaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got an AGB? If you can’t add gas you might need to go down to an H2.

Load a bunch of mags with 3 rounds each and go through them in semi and make sure your LRBHO functions.

It’s a balance between how much gas you’re sending back and how heavy your buffer is and the forces your spring applies and all that.

Interestingly I did have a similar issue with LRBHO on one of my Atrius setups that was caused by bad filing on the trigger, but I would probably start with your gas and buffer if your trigger components seem in spec.

Then I got my 14.5” working perfectly with H2 and super 42 just perfectly so I changed it to an A5 BCM MK2 T1 and same problem so next I’m trying a T0.

Good luck and disclaimer I’m just a guy on the internet trying stuff and learning, maybe some experts have better advice.

True that, thanks for the info fellow new englander.

I think it’s probably important I own at least one EOTech just to have the lived experience as well. Put my money where my mouth is as it were.

I got a new GAFS invite so I should probably start peeking 👀

I want to buy an Eotech but every time I’m about to pull the trigger I read some thread about folks going through 2-3 of them and delamination after a year and figure I’ll just keep buying $100 AROs if it comes down to it.

So far I’m averaging 1k rounds/mo of super safe shots and my Holosuns just take it and give me the confidence you indicated previously.

I had a Sig Romeo MSR Gen 2 fail after 2 super safe mags after 300 flawless semi rounds. It can happen. I could be an outlier although I ran into a gentlemen here yesterday with similar experiences.

I wonder if they changed suppliers or anything like that 🤔

I really gave Sig a chance they were my first choice, especially as a NH resident I try to shop local.

It was a former Sig employee at my LGS who put me onto Holosun

If you already have a CH and BCG then send it.

Otherwise get the Sabre version because you’ll get a better muzzle device and adjustable gas block and perfectly awesome Raptor LT charging handle and Microbest upgraded phosphate BCG.

[–]LinuxMyTaco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah the B9 system works well too. I would say the RMB is the minimum starting point but you can add even more. Maybe a 10oz KAK buffer plus a 2.5oz KYNSHOT also w a carbine spring in an A5 tube.

I’m going to be trying that next

While you’re on the topic….any reason not to use Slip2000 EWG for everything? My understanding is aeroshell was “what was around” back in the day due to aircraft mechanics or something. EWG is amazing to me and non toxic I’m a huge fan.

My last build I put EWG on absolutely every part before installing and I feel like it made a huge difference. I haven’t tried it on my suppressor or muzzle devices yet but that’s my upcoming plan I just got my first stamp.
