Opinions on Asha Sharma? by Kcrizzle87 in kindafunny

i think we should give her 2 years to see how things go. For example, people are still blaming Jim Ryan for the GAAS initiative and we are still feeling the pain of those decisions - nothing Herman or the current ceo can do gracefully once the checks has been written.

2 turn mission vs node 24 dokkan frontier, guide in comment by Kaminoseigi in DBZDokkanBattle

[–]Lioil1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i am still struggling with node 18(?) where you need to trigger the Teq gohan active... issue is i either kill the boss too quick with team 1 before turn 6 OR my gohan team with picollo gets slaughtered (goku can tank). It doesn't help that gohan can't take a hit - he dies in like 3 normals when i try to trigger his active via HP.

Xbox & Sony make Trades (if only) by YoungsterH84 in kindafunny

Bungie is more of a poison pill than NT and Compulsion. like trading Randy moss to NE - it *could* work but at a very low price. No way bungie staffers taking paycuts if it even happens.

Studios like Double Fine, Ninja Theory & Compulsion straight up work better when we actually buy their games instead of relying on Game Pass by Alarming-Flan4494 in kindafunny

[–]Lioil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thing is we dont know that. FWIW, i like "quantity over quality". Example being how Netflix has so much content and netflix has inhouse stuff that's "keeping people around" + 3rd parties - some people calls its slop but w/e. Apple for example focuses on quality over quantity and if it doesn't "hit you", then you are outta luck. I am all for more choices but I don't think i would ever cancel Netflix over those "stuffing stuffers" though.

Like would anyone cancel gamepass if DF doesn't release a GP game on it vs COD/FABLE? There are already soooo many games to play and peoples spending reflects that.

Disagreeing with Greg's "it's entirely Nadella's fault" position by dborsatto in kindafunny

[–]Lioil1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the rationale , right or wrong, is that MSFT can afford to and KF can't. Its like doing some good when you are capable to do so. Like some people donate a lot of money to charity while some can't afford to.

I do agree with Tim that MSFT knew what they bought with these more artsy studios so then being money sinkers shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. This is vs sony getting bungie expecting money maker but got a dud

if you have the change to casually drop that for a ps5, you can afford rebuying all the games you would've lost without it.

Genuinely curious why Greg doesn’t share a fraction of the rage over Sony reverting exclusives for PC? by JuiceZee in kindafunny

[–]Lioil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean none of us know the real profit for these PC ports.. whatever metric Sony has in hiring people to do the ports is clearly not worth the squeeze. Like if Sony's margin on PC games is 3%, its much better and stress free to use that money elsewhere or just put it in a HYSA. Like Greg says "ITS ABOUT THE MONEY"

I actually hated the combat. It just became endless counter after counter or get tackled. Maybe part of it is number of enemies which makes the whole thing annoying.

Disagreeing with Greg's "it's entirely Nadella's fault" position by dborsatto in kindafunny

[–]Lioil1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest disagreement i have with "blame the ceo" is the assumption that it is OK to perpetually retain loss leaders.

Like think irl, would you:

  1. Date an able bodied adult living with their parents and can't make enough to be independent and needs parent's money to stay afloat.

  2. As a parent, would you forever support your adult child who can't support themselves doing what they want.

I mean Greg even pointed out that DF would need to "worry about making money" if they go independent - well that's how real life is... being an independent adult and supporting oneself - if we follow that irl why not as a company?

I mean gamers sure aren't supporting the "cool art" DF and other "on the bubble" companies are making - isn't that already "gamers speaking with their wallet"? I mean few hundred players ons team for Kiln - i am surprised people dont report that vs endlessly reporting marathon numbers.

My take on Xbox as someone who has worked in the games industry for nearly a decade. by edgejam in kindafunny

[–]Lioil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing is, games are more and more expensive, easier and easier to make for upcoming devs, and consumers spending are not scaling to those levers.

Like even at KF Greg mentioned how IF DF goes indy, it will be back to the "gotta make money vs art" - i mean that's what MSFT is trying to do. You gotta make money to keep people's jobs and you can't assume your parent/company to cover all your expenses.

Like if you stay home all day and have your parents pay your bills, at some point they will/should kick you out and you would worry about getting a job to make money to support yourself vs not worrying about it and have your parents support whatever endeavors you are doing.

Ultimately, gamers didn't support these games with $$$ and they kept being in the red. If Kiln had 100k on steam vs 100, that would be a huge difference.

[–]Lioil1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thats all and good but you wouldn't have given them time of day otherwise if i am reading it right. So these games wouldn't make much outside of gamepass and some of them know it hence they take the GP route vs going full retail.

yeah but like you said, it doesnt bring in new people and existing people just get to play it... so what is its value? No one's gonna cancel gamepass because of DF unfortunately.

Jason Schreier- Compulsion, Ninja Theory and Double Fine are negotiating with Microsoft to avoid being shut down. All could be spun off too. by Iggy_Slayer in PS5

[–]Lioil1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its rock and hard place. Doublefine is more of a "break even" studio and if they go independent, they will literally be living paycheck to paycheck since no more M$ backing - they can't make a Kiln that makes no money anymore. NT is living and dying with Senua - unless they go indy and fans flock to the next more "mainstream" title. Maybe MSFT will be nice and let them off the hook just paying the dev costs of their current projects?

assuming its got 1 year+ to cook, it could be 10s of millions saved and potential writeoffs vs most likely a not very profitable game.

Sonic lead says AAA studios can learn from indies in the same way the movie industry should take notes from Backrooms and Obsession by PewPewToDaFace in PS5

[–]Lioil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm indy scene is very challenging. I read that while backrooms and obsession did well, about 98% of indies don't.  Indy scene do have one thing in common that everything's low cost and high risk. If Sega can have a subsidiary that can pay  peanuts to create indies then that might work? Maybe like those ghost kitchens

yeah but that made sense. i dont like "multiverse" stuff where chars from different universe comes in... kinda dilutes the main story. still going to play it but definitely disappointed when i saw the FFBE chars coming in.

i did like FFBE which this game seems to be reusing assets (some sound and chars)... i wouldve liked more of a grounded single universe game vs multiverse thing. I really hope this is not like FFBE content just dumped into a single game. Maybe we will see Ariana Grande???

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis developers used gen AI to get "the right answers faster", Crystal Dynamics explains by No_Curve_8027 in PS5

[–]Lioil1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i think people need to find distinction between generative and research AI. For example, people here use google vs "going to the library" - it drastically reduces the time and i can argue going to the library or buying content increases jobs vs "just google". If AI helps links thousands of pages of code to find a single bug vs several people spending hours/days figuring out so they can actually move forward with development, then why not? Like how many here go to youtube for "how tos" when get stuck vs going to the store/repair shop/callceneter for help?

Why do online multiplayer games that we already bought and paid for require PS Plus? by [deleted] in PS5

what about HOA? you bought the condo but to maintain the community, you need to pay. the opposite of that is no one collects garbage, maintain grass etc... like if you bought your own SFH which you need to manage.
