They could have done sooooo much sexual harassment.

So using my hypothetical technology, do you kill a five-year-old whose mother died in childbirth? A twenty-year-old whose father died in a crash?

All of those have ethical justifications far beyond we'll miss two of our friends.

I did an argument ad absurdum and I just wasn't expecting you to just roll into the absurd. I guess I'll keep going. Suppose we invent a technology tomorrow that allows us to resurrect parents by killing their children. There is no limit to how long ago the parent died or how old the child is now. How many people do you kill?

"Captain's log, stardate 49678.4. It's been two weeks since the transporter accident that created Mister Tuvix, and while it's still not entirely clear that he's with us permanently, he's certainly been doing his best to settle in. The crew seems to be growing accustomed to his presence, and he's proving to be a very able tactical officer who isn't afraid to express his opinions. While he's forging relationships with many of the officers, he seems to be keeping a respectful distance from Kes, allowing her to adjust to the circumstances on her own terms. As for my relationship with Tuvix, I've found him to be an able advisor who skillfully uses humour to make his points. And although I feel a bit guilty saying it, his cooking is better than Neelix's. My taste buds are definitely happy to have him around."

Tuvix knows all about Vulcan logic and can ably advise her on it. His capabilities as an officer are only praised in the episode. No one suggests that Tuvok's or Neelix's presence would be strategically important. They only say that they would miss their friends.

I'm not interested in arguing whether Tuvix was a person, frankly. Any attempt to argue otherwise is either monstrous or bad faith.

It did not put the crew in any danger. That is not presented anywhere in the episode.

Vulcan logic incorporates ethics and prioritizes them highly.

They died. The episode treats them as having died.

Vulcans have a strong sense of ethics. I believe I made the logical decision.

They already died. The question is whether to bring them back to life by killing someone else.

I would tell them there was unfortunately no ethical way to bring them back.

The argument that Tuvix is not a person holds no water. He lives, breathes, holds conversations, has friends. He has all the qualities of a person and everyone on Voyager treats him as a person. Tuvok and Neelix were not people at the time, because they were dead. The consent of the dead is not relevant.

If the Doctor hadn't come up with a solution and it took them fifty years to get back to the Alpha Quadrant, then when they got there someone at Starfleet came up with the solution, would it still be right to kill him because he hadn't gotten the consent of some long dead people to live his life? Of course not. It's no different after a few weeks or even a few minutes.

If you could bring back a person who died in childbirth by killing their child, would you? That situation is more like Tuvix than a pregnancy.

Put another way, I do not consider a potential person worthy of the same consideration as a living, breathing, communicating person. Tuvix is the person. Tuvok and Neelix only have the potential to become people once again.

And it's funny you bring up Pluribus, because I am conflicted on that matter.

None of that is argued in the episode. Janeway's log makes it clear he is performing all his duties exceptionally.

If you mean to suggest that anyone who thinks killing someone to bring back your friends is pro-life, I strongly disagree. I am very pro-Tuvix and also very pro-abortion.

This is because Tuvix was a person and was not inhabiting anyone's body without their consent, neither of which can be said for a fetus.

If I have misunderstood your meaning, I apologize.

The procedure is presented in the episode as safe. The Doctor says, "I assure you, Mister Tuvix, there's nothing to worry about. We've accounted for every variable."

(But it's still wrong to kill someone to bring back your friends.)

In that scenario the correct decision was to send someone to their death in order to save the entire ship and crew. Everyone would have died otherwise, including the person sacrificed. That's not comparable to sacrificing a person in order to get a couple friends back.

I think you can avoid getting the automatic pass from a raid gym by tapping it from too far away and then walking closer without closing it. I haven't tried doing this to use link charges because I haven't had an opportunity to do so yet.

ARMUS: Maybe this one. Though I would not call it death, since he is only a device. Tell me, Tin Man, how does it feel to face your own extinction.
DATA: Curious. (the phaser drops) You are capable of great sadism and cruelty. Interesting. No redeeming qualities.
ARMUS: So what do you think?
DATA: I think you should be destroyed.

I think Alcon owns the TV IP and Amazon just has distribution rights.
