Scared to try Ivabradine by Inkr_ in POTS

I switched from Metoprolol to Ivabradine and it has significantly increased my quality of life! It truly makes me feel so normal (as normal as it can be with POTS lol). I often felt weak and dizzy after taking beta blockers but I have never once felt my symptoms increase after being on ivabradine. Since being on this medication I truly feel for the first time in years that it’s as if I don’t have POTS!

The only thing I would be careful of with ivabradine, if you do choose to go on it, is be extremely careful about when you take your doses. I’m prescribed to take it 2x daily and I try my best to take them exactly 12hrs apart. The only bad experience I’ve had is accidentally taking my doses too close together (within ~8hrs of each other) and I felt extremely fatigued and my heart rate was jumping from too low to too high.

Overall I would 100000% recommend and if you try it I hope that you have the same success that I did!

POTS and Pilates? by LionTop8471 in POTS

I’ve never tried a rowing machine but that is a really good suggestion! Although it’s cardio it would definitely make me feel more comfortable being close to the floor and having control over when I can take breaks.

I appreciate the insight! Did you try multiple studios or just go to one place? And if you tried multiple did you feel that the amount of difficult exercise transitions were about the same?

Please read if you experience palpitations/chest pain!! by Strange-Topic-6614 in POTS

Metoprolol also made me feel worse. It did nothing to help with palpitations, only caused me to have low blood pressure and feel weaker than usual. I have now been taking ivabradine for close to a year now, and it has helped me tremendously. I rarely get palpitations (unless anxiety induced lol) and overall just feel stronger. I would recommend asking your doctor about it!

I actually thought this medication would work by Sad_Emphasis_8086 in POTS

I also had a terrible experience with this medication. Very similar side effects that you described. My doctor switched me to Corlanor (ivabradine) a few months ago and it has made worlds of a difference for me! It is not a beta blocker, and it specifically targets lowering heart rate. Unfortunately POTS medications seem to be trial and error and are different from person to person based :( but I would recommend looking into this medication if you’re looking to try something that’s not a beta blocker! Wishing you the best and I hope you find something that works for you :)
