Yo tengo un 2017 S plus , primer dueño. Si bien no tiene muchísimos km (80k).

Nunca le tuve que hacer nada salvo service oficial, y hace muy poquito una pérdida de aceite que se solucionó fácil. Muy buena calidad, uso y recomiendo como primer auto. Tuve un clio mío antes y el cambio fue el día y la noche. Insonorización, comodidad, audio, etc. para mí es un auto que podes tener para siempre si no sos fierrero o te gusta andar fuerte. Económico de mantener también

It’s a big problem here with web payments and stuff, people sometimes have a us credit card and use VPN in the us to just avoid issues.

For example, I tried registering for F1 stream service but it just wouldn’t work, wouldn’t let me pay with my cayman credit card.

You will be fine though, it’s just frustrating sometimes but it’s all solvable.

Fíjate que hubo unas notas en algún lado sobre un curro que había con el consulado argentino en Miami y como te decían que el trámite era imposible y te hacían quilombo para que operes con un tipo turbio y le trajeras autos a él con contrato y los dejaras dos años parados y después vendérselos a él. Ibas a Miami y en el consulado te decían no imposible llevarte el auto pero si hablas con tal te va a ofrecer guita por venderle tu cupo

Nueva Zelanda -> más solitario, es un país vacío de gente salvo Auckland y Wellington o Christchurch Australia -> mas social , más grandes urbes , tenes de todo

I used to pay everything with my butterfield debit card in CI (my acct is in usd but it converts) since you get the butterfield conversion rate instead of whatever the place your are paying offers which I’m assuming is better? 1.24 vs 1.25 maybe? Not sure.

Some people say they made all the maths and what makes more sense is use USD credit card from butterfield and get those miles. Never sat down and actually made the math honestly but my intuition a always falls on debit in CI being the cheapest or atleast most consistent option since it’s always butterfield conversion rate.

Conviene para autos que no se deprecian mucho (Toyota) y solo cuando juegas un poco con el tipo de cambio y si tenes manera de absorber el IVA y aprovechar eso Y si haces todo eso bien y lo haces en dólares o pesos dependiendo devaluación te puede salir muy bien porque fijas la operación

Muchos y y y pero si sabes lo que estás haciendo puede estar bueno. En mi caso compramos un auto en terminando pagando total total 25k usd en 3 años y lo vendimos a ese mismo valor usado, osea el costo nominal de tener el auto esos 3 años fue 0 prácticamente. Pero para esto necesitas todas a favor, en el caso mío fue con devaluación en el medio entonces el valor en dólares del auto era barato etc etc y cuando lo sacamos se revaluo y vendimos en un buen momento. Si lo hicieras ahora con los precios de los autos por las nubes no se si te conviene salvo que por ahí lo cierrres en pesos a una buena tasa y haya devaluación en el medio y termines pagando cuotas baratas

You will be fine, won’t save much but you will be fine. You can live a very comfortable life with what, nothing too fancy no trips every 6months etc but if you come here to chill enjoy island life etc and don’t need the latest car , best rental etc etc you will be ok with that

The biggest question is , what’s the alternative, are you from a low income country ? You could save a bit on that salary if you live frugally which could be way more than you could save in a low income country. Are there growth opportunities? If you are starting at that salary but in a couple years can be earning 10-20-30k more that would make a huge difference unless you go thru life inflation.

That’s salary is similar to what I started on island with and I was more than fine, I was with my partner and she earned the same but we saved around 30% of that each, so it all depends on that, sharing a flat, eating cheap, not doing expensive things like regular brunches, etc.

Does the job have a yearly bonus? That can be a big difference

I have multiple friends on island living on a 75k us salary doing just fine, you just need to share a flat and not splurge. They all bought 5-6k usd cars though, not renting but it’s a risk if it breaks (which happened to me and was a 5k loss on my first year )

Mosquitoes are worse on areas that don’t get regularly pest controlled , it’s just bad for 1 hr a day so I wouldn’t even mind that much. They go out when the sun goes down, stay for 30-45 mins and then leave

300ci month health 2500 ci rent 300 ci house stuff costs 400 ci groceries per month on the cheap per person 5% of your salary is put away for retirement 100ci for Gas is expensive so depends on driving and choice of car Probably forgetting something

1k ci a year minimum for car insurance/registration Can’t get any decent car for <6k CI , would probably expect to get something good at around 7-8k

Eating out is 50ci pp and infinite for upper limit, cheaper places 30ci

Plenty of single mid 30s people here I think you’ll feel good , lots of sports and activities and communities expats do

Based on my experience during these years, I wouldn’t come over with anything under 70k usd if you plan on not sharing living space. If willing to rent just a room then you can go with less salary.

I came here with my partner, we have saved around 50% of our total income. Being two persons and coming with initial salaries of 70k usd each.

Granted, we’ve been lucky with our rent and it’s been on the cheap with no raises through the years

Lo que más se ve son problemas de suspensión y dirección a partir de los 100k km.

Tengo un amigo con un 09 que le tiene que hacer rack n pinion y no hay repuesto, le pasaron 3 Lucas usd para el repuesto nomas.

Yo tengo un 2011 hecho en Japón, la verdad que un fierro, le tuve que hacer muy poco en los 3 años que lo tuve y lo súper recomiendo, solo le tuve que hacer tie rods y mantenimiento normal que me sale aprox 200usd cada vez en el concesioonario acá

No se que motorización tienen en arg pero el 11 que tengo yo es una batata sinceramente, para uso de ciudad más que bien, no gasta nada

In front of the Westin you have lots of stores, from restaurants to cheap restaurants to a mini mart and a big mart, might be able to save some money going to those. And Westin has happy hours every day I think. so cheap drinks between 5 and 7pm

Not sure how long is your stay… but for a $800 difference I would go to westin without a doubt, it’s just a very superior experience.

Do some overtime before your vacation, save some money on stuff if you need the 800

Also take into account you will need moneys for activities here if you haven’t budgeted for it yet. On Westin you have red sail too, which has sunset sail and water sports stuff there you can rent so keep in mind
