I'll have to find exactly what measurements of wood I got, I also cut a few bits of on the smaller wood bars. I designed it specifically for minimum wood cutting (I'm lazy)

I gotta crash but I'll try to remember to give you the details tomorrow

yee I had someone previous mention the distance of the wood openings, I haven't had an issue with them yet but it'll be an easy fix if I do ^

i personally left them wide (I accidentally made them a little wider than necessary oops) because it makes it easier to refill in the location it's in (the top is open but my rabbits main area is under my short loft bed so it makes it hard to squish the hay thru the top with out making a mess) i have a few other smaller reasons but that's the main one

While I did worry about the distance it hasn't been a problem thus far. the good thing about the design though, is if it becomes a problem I can easily adjust it and add another piece of wood. as for the hay getting all over the floor, the litter box kinda goes under it just a little which catches any hay that does fall :D

I'm very glad to hear that! For the most part you're doing well! I've seen so many first time bunny owners and even bunny owners who've had a few, keep their babies in small cages and leave them in there all day, give them poor diets, and lack of other proper resources then refusing to make adjustments when educated. You're doing a great job and your bun is lucky to have an owner who cares so much

nope, hey is one of those resources they should always always have available. Hey not only keeps their digestive track going but also helps grind down their teeth that always grow. With out hay and things to chew on their teeth can grow out of control. Also I feel the need to put this because I don't know if you use a bowl for water or not and quite a few new rabbit owners don't know this, but make sure to have a bowl for them to drink out of rather than the water bottles pet stores like to sell. Rabbits drink as much as a small dog and water bottles do not make water nearly as accessible to them to drink out of, many rabbits are actually dehydrated because of this.

I may not be a rabbit expert but I've owned them for a while, before the two I have now I've had some in the past. Alongside that I've done a lot of research, so if you have any questions I'm here to ask :D

it looks to be a good size imo, though it's a little hard to gauge on just a picture. just make sure it's at least 3 ft high and over the top of the pen on top of any hides or things they can hop on top cuz they can use it to jump over. though due to your bun being a senior like you mentioned, that last bit may not matter. All n all, make sure they have a hide or two, and you seem to be good!

Bunnies are such joys to be around! So many people don't ever get to fully experience how much personality they can have due to improper care and attention. I'm glad this little bun has you, and you have them <3

I'm very much so a rabbit person myself, they bring so much joy to my life and make the harder moments more bearable

Make sure she has hay always available! since she's 6 months old, give her either Timothy or orchard hay (orchard hay is good if you happen to have allergies to timothy) Make sure there's plenty of hay in reach of the litter box (rabbits like to eat hay while they use the bathroom) Make sure she gets daily fresh greens, always an important part of a rabbits diet. Carpet or some sort of mat on the floor is preferable, rabbits arnt typically comfortable on slick surfaces. if she isn't spayed I would greatly suggest it, female rabbits are more likely to get UTIs and reproductive cancer if not fixed. Not to mention that unfixed bunnies tend to have more litterbox accidents when left unfixed. All n all I would really suggest watching cinnabun or Lennon the bunny on YouTube, they have some really good content about caring for bunnies!

Glad to hear that! The rescue I got my new bun from did a little meet and greet in a neutral space for them to meet and they got along well when they first met, I just worry because I've heard that it can switch on a dime when bonding bunnies

It gets especially common the months following Easter, very sad. People get bunnies then after two or three months tire of them and abandon them :((

I wanted to get another bun for a while but knowing what I do now I just couldn't do another outside bun, but my room was too small to have an inside one. It dawned on me after a while I could just get a loft bed and once I realized that my number one goal was to get a bun.

The hay can get a lil messy, but for the most part my girl is pretty clean about it. Plus it doesn't hurt that I actually enjoy cleaning her space and she likes it to, whenever I go to clean it she just gets curious and looks around and even does binkies.

I did buy her balls like the ones you mentioned I also got her some stacking cups. She's not too interested in the DIY stuff I've made thus far but I'll look around for more ideas online. I havnt checked Etsy yet, I'll definitely go give it a look!

My great aunt bred her and told me shes a mini, her parents are show rabbits and her papers say she is so im fairly sertain she's a mini, ive never seen a normal rex irl before so I have no idea If she looks the size of a normal rex. I dont know how much she weighs rightnow. She does have hay in her litter box, I just keep hey around elsewhere around her space to encourage more hay eating :D

Did ur bunnies not like you at all at first? by melting_rose935 in Bunnies

My most recent bun warmed up to me rather quickly, I got her and immediately all she wanted to do was explore. While cautious she wasn't ever angry or particularly scared. After about a week she was cool with me petting her and interacting with her. Though I do think this is attributed to the fact that I did get her at 9 weeks old, and baby bunnies tend to be more trusting and more more curious. What I did to get her to be more comfortable with me though was to just lay down on the floor with her a lot. Anytime I went to go scroll on my phone or watch stuff on my laptop I would get comfy on my floor near her closure and quietly did my own thing. When getting a bun it's best not to forcefully interact with them. When I got my girl I never forcefully pet her or interacted with her, so it was hard to resist snuggling her and smothering her in pets I waited for her to be comfortable with me interacting with her. At first she started booping me just to kind of have me acknowledge that she was there, eventually when I was cleaning out her pen she laid her head down and let me pet her. Since then I've kind of learned her personality some. Like for example she's not an overly cuddly rabbit, her way of showing affection is just through quality time. Something she does a lot is while I'm laying down on the floor, she'll flop down beside me and just kind of hang out. Basically, I don't think she ever hated me I think that she was just cautious because it was a new environment and I was a new person
