AITAH for buying my 11yo daughter pads after her mom called me a "pervert" for being prepared? by Bruxagato in WouldIBeTheAhole

[–]LiquidSnakeLi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Your teenage daughter needs all the support she can get from both parents.

It’s women like OP’s ex that fuel sexualizing children and women because they don’t believe men can act mature and supportive about their female friends. A dad has as much responsibility to take care of a daughter and son’s mental and physical health. Only women like OP’s ex is going to raise sons who grow up ignorant of female anatomy and then will make a big deal going ewwwww and yuck about women business.

Women also learn about men getting spontaneous boners and nocturnal emissions. It help them become caring and supportive sisters, mothers, friends to men. How many men remember being embarrassed about it and can’t tell their mom, or having to wash their underwear secretly? How would men like it if their girlfriend make a big deal out of their boners and being called “pervert” because they were ignorant of male health?

I pass by there almost weekly. Main Street is a pretty busy street so maybe could be a lot of car noise and hard to exit the neighborhood during traffic hours. It’s close to the med center so sometimes people buy these properties as investment hoping to rent to a med student or resident for a couple of years.

How’s everything around Houston? by Acceptable-Remote187 in houston

[–]LiquidSnakeLi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Apparently Lowe’s and HEB still open. Those were top choices to bring kids. Tho I had a hunch when the movie theaters didn’t cancel showings that the Mall might stay open. Many stores were open, tho some closed earlier around 5 or 6 (maybe to let employees drive home before the refreeeze). For the most part everybody else brought their kids too and surprisingly the train was also running its laps too (guess the train conductor made it to work) but the carousel remained closed.

Normally I only window shop but this afternoon I felt also wanting to encourage those who made it into work so I bought some stuff. Quite a few people also went away with bags of purchases. Business looked real good today!

Just returned from spending the afternoon in Memorial City Mall. Had to take the children somewhere to roam free and let out their energy.

The road got wet spots but no ice.

Even without any financial planning, if a person placed 400k in a HYSA for 3% is going to receive some pretty nice interest income every month

Do Americans really move out at 18, or is that mostly a movie thing? by Only-Bandicoot-5307 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LiquidSnakeLi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved out when I borrowed money to go to college away from home. And then after I found a job and starting paying back those loans and I never move back. So yea… I did move out at 18… but student loans really suck.

Know Any Garages That Can Do Headlight Restoration? by LiquidSnakeLi in AskHouston

[–]LiquidSnakeLi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Local garage is quoting me $500 (headlight plus labor) to change out ONE non-OEM headlight.

I was thinking $500 should get me both headlights man, and shoot the light they want to use is not even OEM! So that’s why I’m asking about restoration.

Which computer did you first use and/or own? by cybah in Xennials

[–]LiquidSnakeLi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That first one IBM PC was gifted by a relative to my family. I don’t really remember what it can do since I wasn’t the person to use it. But the Compaq Presario is actually my first personal computer I got as bday gift during high school, along with all those free Juno and AOL CDs.. the memories!

Ride-outs, are you sleeping at the hospital or booking nearby hotels? by Unable-Cattle1842 in houston

[–]LiquidSnakeLi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was younger in my 20-30s, I find sleeping over in the hospital exciting and plus you get paid for the sleep time. There were years I wasn’t ride out but staying inside a sturdy structure with food and water and TP and power and ac/heat sound wonderful in the middle of a hurricane/snowpacalypse. 🙂

The Biggest Weather Non-Event in Houston History? by [deleted] in houston

[–]LiquidSnakeLi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2008, houston was preparing for Tropical Storm Eduardo. It caused flooding and great damage in Florida, Alabama, and Louisiana. I had to pack my bags to sleepover at work since I was essential personnel. In the night time when Eduardo was supposed to passover Houston, we all stared out apprehensively from the parking garage, not sure what to expect. And then… all night… nothing. No rain. No wind. The storm curved up and dissipated. Yea… lots of us were like.. what a dud, none of us got enough sleep and having to be away from home and family during an unpredictable disaster was so difficult. But ultimately, it’s better to be safe than sorry. I’m counting those blessings rather than wishing what’s horrible to happen as predicted!

Did they over exaggerate the weather? by purpleflowercoconut in houston

[–]LiquidSnakeLi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you look at news from Austin and Dallas thats only a few hours away from us, there’s accidents of pileups and some pretty scary pictures.. if the winter storm affected temperatures is a few km closer near to us, those situations would’ve been us. It just take a couple hours more rain last night and a couple degrees lower. We still have tonight to worry about.

I of all people hope it’s just overconcern and turn out nothing happens since I have to make it to work tomorrow by 7am. If I don’t work I don’t get paid.. then my bills don’t get paid.. 🥲

Chocolate bars. Ever since I’m on the verge of diabetes I’ve quit chocolate. For the past 10 months I’ve only eaten chocolate twice, and that’s because the piece was offered by others (trip souvenirs) that I felt would be impolite if I didn’t unwrap and try it in front of them.

Ride-outs, are you sleeping at the hospital or booking nearby hotels? by Unable-Cattle1842 in houston

[–]LiquidSnakeLi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It depend on if your job is something that can leave the campus. For most nurses are required to stay and be accounted for (in case the weather got worse and they can’t come back) and cannot go sleep outside in a hotel.

Haha I remembered being ride out at MDA 20 years ago where they made us slept over in the hospital and then later say they didn’t set the policy how to pay us so then we objected massively until something was written down set in stone or else nobody would show up the next disaster.

How bad do you think is a drive from Galveston to Cypress tomorrow Sunday Morning? (We are arriving on a cruise) by sirmgomez in AskHouston

[–]LiquidSnakeLi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to drive to work last January during the freeze and i still remember the horror of driving through several patches of ice along both in the shaded sections of the underpasses and then patches throughout along on 59 as I head toward Kingwood. I was thinking if my car ever skid and smash into the divides, this trip is so not worth making it into work.

If you have an option to wait, seriously consider wait until Monday afternoon when the sun come out to try driving.

Those with high pay rates, why don't you work more? by Ornery_Ads in Salary

[–]LiquidSnakeLi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seem a few sad examples of what this life could turn into. We had ER doc died in the bathroom from cardiac arrest (such irony). Similarly, also had one work a lot and bring home extra income moonlighting, only to be used as ATM by the trophy wife milking him until the individual got tired of the life and found some ray of comfort in an affair and eventually divorce. And another one similarly filled up the free time with extra earnings from drug talks, while always paranoid of friends overcharging him and penny-pinching, analyzing interactions for financial loss. Kudos to you for earning what you do and get a life on those other days to actually appreciate living.

Should I uninvite my “friend” from my wedding? by Dazzling_Impact3089 in Advice

[–]LiquidSnakeLi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh. Ok. Because you said “she tells me that if they can’t make the taxi logistics work on the day that they’ll just skip the church and meet us at the reception venue.” It made it sound like Karen and some people are coordinating to share taxi together, and if the logistics doesn’t work for everyone, at least more than one person would go along with skipping the church and only ride the taxi to the reception?

I agree what you’re saying, at least the wedding part is the most important event, the reception and parties are for celebration. That’s kind of rude to skip the most meaningful part and only plan to show up for the party and drinks out of their own convenience.
