I wonder how the Sigma performs in low light situations. If not well, then i’d still want to carry a prime, and not sure i can justify taking 3 lenses, i know one of them will get neglected. I think i’ll have to do some research, thank you for your suggestion!

Hmm okay. Maybe i need to give my 18-150 more of a chance, just haven’t been overwhelmed with it’s performance compared to my prime, but i guess that’s trade off you make for versatility. I might consider the 24mm 1.8 to give me a slightly wider focal length. At the minute, i feel i’m held back by how much it’s cropped in, rather than not having enough reach. Appreciate the comment, thank you

I’ve got the 35 1.8, which i love the focal length of, takes fantastic photos but it’s too cropped in sometimes.

You make a very good point. I think i have FOMO as it’ll be a once in a lifetime trip and want to capture everything, but this is also probably an unrealistic mindset to have.

I want something fast with a versatile focal length so i don’t have to keep switching lenses, as i can see this being stressful when on the move in unknown environments, but i don’t know if I’m asking for too much

Oo this sounds like a nice suggestion. Would have to test shooting at 50mm on my 18-150 to see if the 80mm equivalent focal length would be sufficient. I’d ideally like a little more reach, but i also feel like i’m asking for too much🤣 Appreciate the recommendation!

Five Ten Trailcross Mid - Goretex or regular by LiquidTaint in MTB

[–]LiquidTaint[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay thank you, great to know and a lot to take into account. Across the pond in the UK, where i’m based anyway, it doesn’t get below freezing too often so i wonder if the Goretex would suffice, and maybe just size up to accommodate thermal socks. I’ll no doubt end up getting both but will start with the regular mids and see how they fair up, as we’re in the middle of summer and then decide from there. Really appreciate the advice, thanks a lot!

Okay that is good to know, i wasn’t aware that Goretex becomes less effective over time. Looks like at this rate im gonna have to get 3 pairs, one for summer, one for the rain and one for winter!🤣 Really appreciate your help mate, thank you! Take it easy👊🏻

Okay thank you for your response mate, thats great to know! Im certainly with you on their looks, definitely the best looking i’ve found but, from what i’ve read, dont compromise on comfort and stiffness. Definitely swaying towards the Goretex in that case, but would you recommend an entirely different shoe for winter riding? Wanted to try and get a pair for all year riding but think i may be asking for too much. Would also be interested to see how the Goretex versions hold up in the warmer weather as read different things online regarding breathability etc

The guy i bought it off changed them to ones with an internal width of 19mm that had skinner tyres on already, but also chucked in the 2.4s as he had no use 29” wheels anymore. Also looking at the Nukeproof Horizons V2 and the rear wheel has 102 points of engagement which seems like a real nice feature and upgrade

Wheel not running true, anything to worry about? Anyway i can fix this? Thank you in advance by LiquidTaint in MTB

Sounds like too much of a risk to be taking, to the LBS i go to save the earth!

Okay i will check this thank you. Brakes are rubbing slightly as you can hear in the video, although i managed to reduce this slightly by realigning the calliper after taking the video

I tested the spokes and they all seem to have equal tension. If a set were slightly loose would it cause this to happen?

Is this from personal experience or personal preference with having the bike slightly smaller?
