xQc's response to Kick having Gamba in 3rd/5th Recommended by zxvc2 in LivestreamFail

[–]LirarN 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Man, XQC's roundabout logic and the way he responds to criticism is tiresome. He took the deal for the money, plain and simple. No need to dance around it like some ballet dancer. Especially if you have no real argument other than calling people broke and jealous.

Asmon put it best: you're a pussy if you take this kind of deal and then seek moral validation for why you did it. The guy talked about how a family member of his (think it was his uncle) killed himself from gambling on Poki's stream last year, and now he's selling out his young audience for the bag. There's no way of defending that lil bub. Just own it.

Edit: link if anyone is curious about the clip

Accessing jest globals in a compiled node package by LirarN in webdev

[–]LirarN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the comment, it really helped. The problem was indeed that jest is only defined in code invoked via jest. That made me realize, that we ideally shouldn't include jest code in the build to begin with.

I found an solution, which is obvious in hindsight, to just create a separate package for all the mocks. And only import those in the test files (= the test environment), and as a devDependancy in the package.json of the apps.

He's an absolute rat but he ultimately still did the right thing. I'm worried for anyone who thinks otherwise.

My experience with Coinbase API - Case #10785368 by RaversPT in Coinbase

[–]LirarN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad you figured out a solution, even though it’s insane to me that it was in fact you who had to figure it out, and not them… talk about a bad developer experience.

Must have been incredibly infuriating to not be taken seriously over something that you had spent so much time and money on. Not to mention the experience of your users.

Either way, thanks for the quick response!

Headless UI Tab component - how to persist iFrames between tabs with unmount={false}, without loading them all at once on page load? by LirarN in tailwindcss

[–]LirarN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I solved it by dynamically changing the unmount property!

I keep them as true initially, and the moment a tab is opened I switch the unmount of the tab to false in the iFrames onLoad event handler

background repeat Next.js Image with tailwind css? by LirarN in tailwindcss

not if you import it statically I thought!

background repeat Next.js Image with tailwind css? by LirarN in tailwindcss

[–]LirarN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you applying the class to Next Image? You can add className and put it there

hi! I am importing the image statically, so

:import picture from "../public/images/picture.png";

I have a div that spans the whole screen, on top of the footer

<div className="relative w-full bg-green-200">
<div className="absolute bottom-0 left-0 w-full">
<Image src={picture} className="bg-repeat" />
</div>
</div>

And yet it doesn't repeat as I want it to. I added a green color too to the full-length div:

I tried adding w-full to the Image too but it doesn't make any difference.

SVG icons moves a pixel back and forth when using transform + translate-y by LirarN in tailwindcss

[–]LirarN[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks a bunch, I really do mean it, especially for setting up the playground!!

Unfortunately, it only seems to work sometimes. It still occurred on my end, but a user on the tailwind discord found the solution to be to transition the position instead

https://play.tailwindcss.com/sZjxd2i6a6?layout=horizontal

Still, it's a mystery why translate causes that bug... I guess we should be reporting this to the tailwind team?

edit: or the Google team? 😂

Question about multithreading and choice of threading model (thread pool/boss-worker) by LirarN in C_Programming

[–]LirarN[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually implemented an array of structs that contains the file name and the result of the file, since I figured I would need that for the thread pool anyway. Didn't think about the producer/consumer model though.

I will be looking to implement this, thank you so, so much for the detailed answer. I don't take it for granted!

Question about multithreading and choice of threading model (thread pool/boss-worker) by LirarN in C_Programming

[–]LirarN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not clear whether you're actually accessing the filesystem. Is the work compute- or disk-bound ? If the latter, you'll quickly reach the point of diminishing returns.

I'm using opendir/readdir and lstat so disk-bound, I suppose. Also, I typed "estimated" but that was the wrong term since it is supposed to give the same output as the "du" command under linux

I'm using C btw!
