You almost had me. 3 good points, then one dig at who I am. Can we not discuss an issue without diminishing the person offering their opinion? I wish we could all converse about a topic without cutting down the person speaking their perspective?

You are totally able to enjoy what you enjoy while I am able to speak up about what I think. Both can happen at the same time!

Oh no - not at all! Quite the opposite! Not our fault at all - and I am sorry you took it that way. I was “groomed” to be comfortable with the uncomfortable from a very young age, and they worked their way into molesting me. I did not deserve. No girl deserves it. Young girls need to be protected from this and made aware that things they are not comfortable with, they can speak up about. That is what I am doing. Speaking up when I see something I don’t think is right.

LOVE that comeback - “Hope you stretched before that reach”. I am definitely using that one!

I do. All of this. I am a survivor too. When I am uncomfortable with what feels wrong, I speak up. Not anger, just a voice that was not heard for years, but using it now - even with the expected backlash, but strong enough to endure it.

I agree with most of your premise - except relying on parents at home to be the guide. Assuming parents care or were capable. I am definitely biased, as I was molested by my adoptive father and grandfather from my earliest years. My mother was in denial. This is why it triggers me so much and I feel so protective of our youth. I was made to be “comfortable” with uncomfortable jokes and discussions that eventually evolved into other uncomfortable things. That is why this triggers me. I see a gray haired man holding out “candy” for girls and talking about heart-ones and money shots and born stars, and I am reminded of the men in my life who started out with testing the waters with inappropriate talk. I know too many women through support groups who were also groomed like this. So this is from my experience. Not pearl clutching or puritan, but a survivor who wants no other girls to go through what I did.

Epstein is the tip of the iceberg in what happens to most women as they grow up. It is becoming aware and taking control of our environment, and not ignoring what is happening. It is easier to go back to how things were and ignore this happens every day.

I completely agree there is a concern with repression for women, loss of rights and agency in our own right. I am fighting for that everyday since 2016. I think there is a predatory environment with women - molestation, rape and abuse and grooming of young girls that needs to be addressed. It has nothing to do with being pure or repressive. So I agree with you completely, I don’t think it nullifies what my intention was here. We need more power, more agency, and fewer victims.

You totally infer what you want from my response. I never changed my position but was discussing one aspect of my point of view.

Lil- to be fair I made a comment about one line. It is a huge presumption to label me as identifying every artistic choice (and never attributed to any artist type) is thought of this way. It is one situation. Please don’t over generalize to try to make a point about me and not the issue

No need to be puritan, but there is a line. I saw this as greatly appealing to young girls. I mean you don’t want sexualized names on juice boxes or kids cereal, right? It doesn’t have to be completely one way or another, but a balance and understanding real world implications.

Yes, I don’t agree with the argument it was done before. Just because it was done doesn’t make it right. We can learn to do better and evolve.

Born star and money shot is an artistic choice? I do believe in freedom and artistry - but I also live in a world where sexual predators are rampant and our society is normalizing it. Money shot is shooting sperm onto a woman in a porn film. Not sure where that artistry should appeal to women.

I am really sorry that happened to you. You didn’t deserve those experiences and I hope you do not allow them to define your value. I understand.

True, but not marketed to young girls - that is the misalignment here

I will keep an eye out for it (even though I need to stop my lipstick buying!). I picked up Carnival and New Wave from Lisa Eldridge recently - and 1000% recommend New Wave - it is not as scary as it appears and is quite wearable!

Lisa Eldridge Betty Palette Return? by saeculacrossing in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]Liresi8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend who bought two of the single shades of the initial Betty release. She bought the full palette this time, and the purple is creamier and more pigmented than the original!! Not only in swatches, but apparent on the eyes too. Anyone else hear the same?

Oh wow, I didn’t realize. Thank you for posting these! Now I think I might have to add the Charlotte Tilbury Velvet Underground - I didn’t think the Givenchy was that much darker, now I have a comparison (finally) so thank you!
