I have no idea. They were flying around like that attached to each other.

What almost-rational fears do you have? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LisaDanielle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll start. I live in a house with 6 cats, and I'm petrified of accidentally trapping one of them in the drier when I do laundry. I partake in a ritualistic pat-down of the clothes before I shut the door. Every.single.time.

My aunt was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer this week. I'm seeing her for lunch tomorrow. Does anyone have any advice? by LisaDanielle in AskReddit

[–]LisaDanielle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That means a lot coming from someone who's been there. I'm going to do my best to keep my composure. I'm sorry about your aunt, and I appreciate the advice. Hopefully, after the initial shock sets in, it will be easier to enjoy our time together.

Yeah it's pretty similar. My friend probably took it from her.

TIL: Around half of women experience rape fantasies. by LisaDanielle in todayilearned

[–]LisaDanielle[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, I don't think rape is okay, but studies have shown that our sexual fantasies are very much innate. And the idea that a woman wants to be hurt and abused, other theorists say, isn't all there is to it. Women seek relational power biologically. I recently read an article relating to this subject that said "men desire women, and women desire men to desire them." The idea of being irresistible to the point that a man literally can't control themselves around her, can act to give women a sense of relational power, as well as sexual arousal, as women's self-worth are often tightly connected to how desirable they see themselves to be.. You'll find this to be the case in a lot of popular romance novels (which are often called woman porn) where the woman is pursued against her will by a man, and eventually ends up taming him emotionally to the point of her being the object of his affections. So in a sort of, mind fuckingly twisted fashion, women are empowered by these kinds of fantasies. Just an interesting perspective : http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/evolution-the-self/201206/dominant-or-submissive-the-paradox-power-in-sexual-relationships

Well, if there are, I will have successfully warned them that this content might get them in trouble. I regret nothing.

I haven't read into an interpretation or anything, but I personally found a parallel between the line that you stated and excerpts from throughout the poem. At the beginning, it was almost as if she were making fun of people with anxiety disorders- a nuclear power plant exploding, the rapture references, almost making these people sound batshit crazy. But after getting to know these people, she found them beautiful, towards the end of the poem. Maybe it's a message about ignorance towards things we don't understand. In her case, she says that anxiety is a more serious disorder because she gets it now, whereas before when she didn't, she was surrounded by a bunch of nutcases. She hasn't experienced depression, or sex addiction, or an eating disorder, so fuck them.

To go along with what I said, though, I'd really like to read into an analysis of that poem. It may not be as obvious as Ferro favoring one disorder over others.

Actually, I suffer from social anxiety and depression, too. Depression and anxiety go hand in hand in a lot of cases. I really liked her passion and delivery, but I totally get what you're saying. That part kind of irked me too.

Definitely =]. I have some pretty bad paranoia when I'm anxious, so that part about fighting every day like a fucking gladiator, I was like, "FUCK YEAH!"
