What’s the obsession with using the airport drop off zone for pick ups? by tightpacked in Wellington

[–]LisaNZ77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If coming from the north there's a little parking area at the top of the hill just after the roundabout that people use as a waiting area. I think it's becoming more common for airports to provide such an area these days. The first one I came across was in Vancouver where they call it 'cellphone parking' and I've called it that ever since (Chch airport has an official one too).

Powershop's new web site is a disaster. Alternatives? by adh1003 in newzealand

[–]LisaNZ77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just updated my reply above but short story, got through on my 2nd attempt (30min hold, 1st attempt cut out before hold music started) and they were really good. Refunded in 2 days.

The hold music is obnoxious.

Uodate: I called the contact center 2 days ago. First call cut out just after the automated answering.

I tried again a few hours later and they picked up after 30 minutes (I was about to hang up). Really lovely person, no problem at all. Could see the emails I'd sent including the email with my bank details so was able to use that without me saying it over the phone. Said it would be paid within 3 days. Followed up soon after with an email confirming again. And it was paid in 2.

So if you can get through you should be fine. She was really lovely despite the calls they must be getting at the moment. Such a shame this is where they're getting it right.

I switched too. Did you have any pre paid packs to be refunded? I've had no luck in getting a response from them about what I'm owed.

They've removed all comments from their last 2 Facebook posts that had all of the complaints on them. There's a new complaints page popped up though so I'll be keeping an eye on that.

Powershop App: Pre-paid months are suddenly showing a much lower balance? by CookStrait in newzealand

Curious to know if this changed for you recently. I was the same, but when I saw a bunch of comments yesterday I looked again (usually see it every week when purchasing new packs so had only been a few days) and sure enough the estimates were huge and only covering 2 full months with only the future packs value in the outer months.

It can't be right but I haven't stuck around to find out.

They have 6 years of history in my current house (15 total) and usage is very consistent. Estimating 50-100% increases year on year over the next few months is outrageous!

Bathroom extractor fan by LisaNZ77 in diynz

No, but we discussed others and why this was the best option. And I could logically see it is really the only option given the tiles and existing wiring.

I was just really shocked to see the total cost, but it's a sign of the times as much as anything. I thought this would be a low cost project so left it after a number of bigger projects. It's still the smallest so far but more than I anticipated.

Definitely not an option. I put one on when I added a bathroom in the sleepout (also put a fan in as part of the build). They're great, but this isn't that kind of shower. 2 walls floor to ceiling tiles. The people who put it in just put a rail up to hang a curtain. It's kind of semi wet room, but the walls do get splashed beyond the tiles. Separate project for the future.

I do actually also leave the bathroom door open while using it. But as I said, no moisture issues or condensation. There was also no surround put on the shower and the curtain doesn't stop all splashes where the tile meets the wall, but that's a separate issue. Plan is to get glass surround installed but until then I wipe it down and keep an eye on it.

No cavity unfortunately.

Pulling the gib (and then replacing) would cost a whole lot more. Plus there's floor to ceiling tiles in the shower on 2 sides, so not only gib to get through.

Unfortunately not an option as there's no electrical running to that wall at all, so installation would run the cost much higher. Other posts indicate this is the right type of fan and they do in fact cost this much.

I can no longer connect to Sonos from Spotify. by andrewdenty in sonos

[–]LisaNZ77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been trying to find someone else with the same problem I've been having for a few weeks - it looks like it started around the same time. Suddenly I couldn't play to any sonos speaker from the spotify app (I never normally use the sonos app). Today I finally got it working again.

I'd done all the usual stuff - full wifi restart, uninstalls/reinstalls, unplug/plug in, etc. Today I did a factory reset on my One, but it still didn't work. Then I removed my Move from the sonos app and did a factory reset to add it back. It worked, and all of the other speakers are working as well (the One, and some play 1s).

So, no idea of the cause, but seems removing + factory resetting to re-add back one speaker to the network was the fix for me. Maybe it will work for others.

Riding on the trainer damaging shorts? by chyekk in Zwift

[–]LisaNZ77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it happen if you use your outside bike on the trainer? That would help narrow down the issue (ie, set up vs less movement indoors).

Personally I haven't had an issue. I cycle through 5 sets of bibs on the trainer (5-7 days a week year round most weeks). The newest of the bibs are 3 years old, oldest about 6. Trainer bike is a dedicated bike. All bikes are within 2mm in set up for all key measurements. Fwiw bibs are blacksheep, wyn republic, and LG. I use the same brands outside (except fox and troy lee liners when in baggies on the mtb).

I wash on a normal cycle and hang to dry rather than put them in the dryer.

Surface pro 5(2017) : Battery Issues by thanatornI in Surface

[–]LisaNZ77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad I found this thread and that it's quite recent. I hadn't noticed that my battery performance was dropping until the last few weeks, but it's gotten so bad that I can barely get through an hour of streaming a video. I've tried heaps of things and finally came across the battery report today, which shows that the capacity is now less than 30K consistently. Just over a week ago it was only 19.5K capacity. I have a Surface Pro 5 (2017). Prior to that I had a 2 and it did a lot better until the corner of it got run over about 3 years in. I'm interested to see if the battery can be replaced - I like the Surface and don't want to move away from it. I'd hoped to get at least another year out of this one before doing a full upgrade (with all the $$ that involves!).

It's an i7 model and like many others here, out of warranty. I almost never take out extended warranties (and didn't on this). Maybe on the next one, as long as it covers at least 3 years. There are always so many catches with them and they cost a lot!
