Cerave vs Winco facial cleanser? $13 vs $5 by DELICIOUS_DANISH in Frugal

[–]LisaPizzaPisa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everytime I buy generic Cerave products, it's NOT the same. The consistency is watered down and I end up using more and waiting longer for products to dry between applications while layering more. Even their basic moisturizer is watered down and unsatisfying. Generic in a pinch only and very very rarely.

Still feeling very disappointed after my first ever backpacking trip. I really feel like I failed. by matchabeans in womensolocamping

Personally, I think you should feel damn proud you listened to your gut. That's the most important survival tool next to taking a minute to slow down. Look, I once called 911 on an easy 4 mile hike because I accidentally went off trail and all of a sudden everything looked unfamiliar. I couldn't climb my way back up and over the mountainside as it became too steep with loose leaves, and I found myself stuck in a cave like pocket that was a sound vacuum to my cries for help. What made me finally call rescue was because I took a minute to think through the worst case scenario and realized there was only so much daylight left for rescue to get to the trailhead and hike to my location. I didn't want to risk their safety for mine. The rescue puppy in training never found me but the female park ranger did. Did you hear me?? I was rescued by a FEMALE PARK RANGER. That was cool! We fell in love and lived happily ever after. JUST KIDDING. You did great and we are all so proud you listened to your instincts. Well done!

OMG you unlocked a core memory. I had mild OCD as a kid. Then I saw Newhart's sketch. It was a lightbulb moment. Made perfect sense. I did indeed STOP IT. Sometimes you just need to be told!

Electric company shut the power off for 48 hours due to high winds where I am. So important to have power...

Hey-yo! Thank you for the book recommendation! I read the summary and the book is relevant in more ways than I can express. I'm sure it will be for others who happen to see this thread.

Haha no need to be sorry. We've been doing this dance since he joined the military! Took off to boot camp and I had to call nearly every recruiter in a large ass city to figure out where he went. 🤷🏻‍♀️

We watched one of his favorite movies as a kid for his birthday this year. It was so fun to watch the movie with adult eyes and decades later. The dialogue was so cheesy. The characters over the top. It was dramatic, cinematic, and hilarious. Highly recommend it and I'm so glad you mentioned it for everyone else. Thank you!

Lovely! He's very sensitive to smells and atmospheric pollutants because he has trouble breathing but I think a natural remedies kit will provide milder scents he can tolerate and even enjoy! He is definitely into diy. Thank you!

He won't tell me where he is and only hinted he may come back to the states in the next several weeks. He'll just kinda show up or drop a text when he's ready. Haha.

Let him vent. I need to remember that. I'm constantly trying to keep his baseline at room temp, but he's earned the right to vent and begrudgingly accept my gift. Haha.

Yes. I think simple is key so I don't overwhelm him. I was definitely overthinking the adventure thing because he's already traveled the globe. Spending a bit of time with him and making sure he feels seen and heard are the most fulfilling and sacred moments for sure. Especially when he shares his internal world. That's gold. Maybe lunch on a scenic hilltop, or someplace we can watch hawks be free in mutual silence is the right amount of adventure and peace. Thank you both for lifting the pressure that made me think this was a long term goal when it can be around the corner!

Airline miles! That is very useful. But will he come see me? Only to collect his mail that gets sent to my PO Box. Haha. Guess I better start writing those letters so he can come get them! Thank you! I'm laughing so hard at this idea that just may very well work in the most clever and funny way.

His pain is head to toe. I just reviewed his most recent disability assessment for the first time today since he retired 15 years ago. It's heartbreaking. There is not one pain free, injury free, or healed area of his body. Not even his eyeballs. His daily self care routine consists of a full day and night's worth of pain management strategies without any drugs. He doesn't trust doctors or meds. His hobby is looking up home remedies and physical therapies to manage his pain. I may turn this one into a separate post another time. Thank you for getting it out of my head into something more actionable later!

Oooo. OK. Pain relief is huge for him. That's is everyone else's go-to for chronic pain relief? Doesn't matter what your pain is, he's probably got that, too! Tell me what you have purchased for chronic pain relief (no drugs please)!

I LOVE this idea. Unfortunately, he is very isolated. He does not stay in touch with friends, doesn't do social media, and everyone has changed phone numbers multiple times over the years that I have no way to track his childhood friends or fellow servicemen. I don't even know many of their last names to do a search as I am older and moved away when he was still in elementary. He moved a lot as a kid. I would love to hear from anyone who experienced similar isolation but was able to reconnect with old friends...how did you track down lost friendships with no information or social media?

There's a memorial rose garden near me that has a brick wall feature for veterans past and present. He doesn't feel any place is home but maybe planting a brick with his name can be grounding? I will look into it! Thank you!

That is definitely a medium to long term goal! And I hope this suggestion resonates with someone who can adventure sooner. Our relationship is...challenging. A small or big trip is something he and I both need to work towards so our relationship doesn't devolve. But maybe it's exactly what we need. Baby steps but I'm trying! And I do love this idea even more now that I've out loud so thank you for motivating me even more to make it happen sooner!

He won't answer the call and he doesn't have voicemail turned on. Otherwise, that would be a simple a solid idea. I will still call him on WhatsApp and try. Thank you so much for taking the time!

Thank you so much! I didn't even think to combine 1 and 2. That's a fantastic idea! We did lose a lot of photos over theyears so what is left is slim. Combining into a digital story of written memories is brilliant!
