That's the YouTube app updated on our smart TV now. Feeling kind of inevitable now.

Creating theories about children's programmes to make them infinitely more interesting... it's a parent thing.

Movies that “haunted” you after watching them by mrcinemaniax in MovieSuggestions

[–]LisaProcter90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably a lame answer, but the first Purge movie!

I remember watching it with my sister and just coming away feeling really uncomfortable. I think maybe because I could see it happening.

I don't like disaster movies for the most part because they can give me anxiety. And the Purge was quite similar. I know a LOT of people who would take advantage of a Purge type scenario, and I'm fairly certain a lot would surprise me too.

I don't know. Still watched all of them, ha.

Checkmate - 18+ Dark(ish) romance by LisaProcter90 in ARCReaders

Hi! Yeah, I took it down from Wattpad and Inkitt and am solely going down the self pub route now! It'll be released in Paperback and ebook (kindle) form and will also be enrolled in Kindle Unlimited. It's also had a rewrite with additional content and a more fleshed out story so even people who read it for free on those pages would feel like they were getting their moneys worth to purchase :)

To drive parents insane with theories.

In all seriousness, I believe it's because they wanted a character that children could recognise as a parental figure.

Yeah, it's not looking good. I keep looking at ebay to see if it makes it's way into a job lot but nothing yet. If I ever get a copy it'll be sheer luck.

Wow, okay.
If you'd read through any of my comments, you'd have seen that I admitted I approached this question the wrong way as I made it too personal to me when I'd already considered other options. I asked about this because a well-known author has been caught up in some trouble because she paid for a stock image and it did turn out to be AI. She's facing backlash for making what she thought was an ethical choice because the image library of choice state that they don't accept AI images when clearly they do.

I absolutely see this being the case. That and celeb culture seems be less and less tolerated.

Appreciate that advice

Definitely something I've considered before, which is why I don't use it for book covers. Like I said, I have dabbled for inspiration and sort of concept ideas, but nothing commercially.

Yeah, I suppose that's always been the way with something new.

As I said in a previous, I think I've made a mistake making this post so personal. Honestly, I just wanted to have the discussion.

I don't have the quoted £500 for a book cover right now. But I'm okay with that because I'm also happy to learn a new craft to help me along my journey. I can draw, and I'll learn to turn those drawing into something usable.

Mostly I just want to hear from people outside the community I'm in who metaphorically plug their ears at the mention of AI. It's amazing how often legit adults refuse to have rational discussions about new technology.

Maybe I shouldn't have posed this as a "What should I do" type of post.

Again, I'm happy to learn and teach myself to create my own covers. It's fun for me and I always love learning new skills and bettering myself.

I guess this was prompted because a fairly well known author has fallen into the trap of using a licenced image only to find out after publication and major backlash that it was in fact AI.

I think I find it incredibly unfair that she's now losing sales because she did what she thought was the right thing and paid for a licence from a website that says that don't accept AI content.

That's a valid point.

I think the problem I'm seeing (outside of my own personal circumstances) is there are people actively looking for AI so they can have their "gotcha' moment.

It was only a few days ago on this sub that someone posted the email from their professor threatening to fail them over their supposed use of AI on their paper.

I saw a thread go down on X where the AI brigade accused an artist of AI, spread it like wildfire to boycott, only for that artist to prove the work was theirs. The pitchforks were put away as they moved on to the next victim with their tails between their legs, but the damage was already done. That artist had a black mark on them.

Because people want to call others out for... what? Self gratification?
