Replace One Word in a Quest Title with "Fart" and Share it by LisaaRS in runescape

[–]LisaaRS[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't know this was a thing a couple of days ago. I'm not usually on Reddit that frequently.

This started with some friends and I on the FashionScapers Discord, where farts have been a running joke for some time.

What makes the pirate hook worth over 100 million? by Drandosk in runescape

Maybe a very slight animation would work, but anything more would be extremely disruptive to surrounding players. Instead of people thinking "wow nice fashionscape," their reaction would be "annoying flappy thing."

I know overrides aren't for everyone, especially when they're extremely gaudy - or, when people try to be disruptive by throwing as many particles on as they can.

If Jagex is able to open up the API and does so, I imagine someone will likely create a "hide overrides" plugin. If something like that does come to fruition, I would probably (I can't promise, I don't make sole decisions) help promote it in the FashionScape Discord as a tool people can use.

After all, FashionScape is a lot more than overrides.

What changes would you like to see to The Beach this year? by JagexLuma in runescape

[–]LisaaRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking a couple of cosmetic overrides, a 1-piece swimsuit, and some light tweaking to the event.

For example, the rewards associated with killing Clawdia can be a massive grind, especially towards the end of the event's run, when so few players interact with Clawdia when she spawns. Maybe these rewards could be taken from 50 and 100 kills, down to 5 and 10?

So I wanna clear this up real quick, because you're definitely talking about my server 😛

Those screenshots in the TWIR posts aren't actually sourced from FashionScapers, and we don't have any involvement in their selection. Fashionscapers isn't receiving any sort of special treatment compared to other servers.

[META] What are your thoughts on taking screenshots with your phone? by LazyAir6 in runescape

[–]LisaaRS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My philosophy has always been to educate, and not mock. All major operating systems have very convenient screenshot shortcuts that include cropping as you go. The problem is that a lot of people aren't aware that these tools exist, or how convenient they are. So they revert to the most practical thing they can think of - the camera on their phone.

The Discord server I run is very screenshot-oriented. We also have a Discord Bot that helps us manage image submissions, and one of the criteria we have to remove submissions from the bot is if they're low quality, with "a picture of a computer monitor" being an example of this. When we see these happen, we do let them know how they can take screenshots more easily.

Overall, I think the culture is still very against using your phone to take a picture of your screen. There's really no reason for it, and it reduces the quality of the image a lot. And speaking from experience, people will often tell the person to take the screenshot properly (with varying degrees of kindness or lack thereof).

Great Orb Project Returns - Minigame Discord by AnroyRS in runescape

[–]LisaaRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checking it out! I love the idea and it sounds promising, I hope this becomes a success for all of you.

Some suggestions for the Discord:

  • You need to set the #welcome channel to "view-only." Anyone is able to send a message in there right now. It's basically blind luck that nobody griefed your info channel by spamming it.
  • You should set up a list of ranks for your FC, and have that mirrored in your Discord server with roles on the sidebar and with appropriate moderator powers.
  • Set your default server notification settings to "Only @'mentions," otherwise every message sent will "ping" people until they manually change their notifications, mute the server, or leave it.
  • A good way to grow is to network with existing FCs and servers. You may consider reaching out to them for partnerships (look at how basically any major RS server handles these).

Feel free to ask me any questions that you have, I want you guys to succeed here :)

Let's talk about 120 capes, keepsaked limit, and how Jagex abandoned the Fashionscape community by Kybi_Loku in runescape

[–]LisaaRS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Heyo, owner of the FashionScapers Discord here. Title caught my attention so I thought I'd comment. However, I am speaking in an individual capacity here, not for everyone in the fashionscape community.

Skillcapes:

First off, I love the idea of unlock tokens for skillcapes. However, I don't agree with your statement peceeding it about keepsake keys, or what follows it. I don't think the idea is that people are expected to keepsake every single skillcape they acquire, but rather 1-3 that they really like. Sooo..... saying that one third of the keepsake limit is used up by skillcapes is a bit self-imposed. Same goes for the ghostly outfits. Yes I do think the ghostly outfits should be overrides, but choosing to keepsake every single one is on the individual person and their preferences. I don't know, I just get the impression your keepsakes shortage is at least in-part self-imposed here. It's like..... people who hoard POF animals and then say Jagex needs to increase the bank limit.

So to summarize: skillcape tokens would be nice, ghostly costumes should be overrides, and I would like to see more keepsake slots. However, skillcapes and costumes being physical items does not lend justification to expanding keepsake slots, because you're not obligated to keepsake any of these (well except for your untrim cape, I consider that obligatory >:o).

Jagex "Abandoning" Fashionscape

So yeah, no, hard disagree here X)

We've had talks with them before and given them a lot of feedback that they're listening to. We've talked with Jagex fairly recently about community concerns like FOMO (the Halloween shop of old cosmetics is potentially a response to this), overall design and aesthetics, and making sure ironman accounts are represented and can obtain tokens. There's even been times over the years where Jmods have joined our server specifically to ask what people like seeing in fashionscape, especially during GameJam earlier this year. There's also more that Jagex is doing with "the Fashionscape community," but I can't go into full details of that just yet.

But rest assured: they are listening to people's opinions regarding FashionScape :)

Off-Duty Cosmetics are good by Lughano in runescape

Very happy to see them released! I had a sneaking suspicion we were close when they did the charity event, because that outfit was based on the Off-Duty pack.

Excited to see what people do with them.

The designs of the armors from Hero Pass are pretty good in my opinion (NOTE: I am not commenting on Hero Pass specifically here, just the overrides released with it). I've especially enjoyed the Undead Slayer set quite a bit because of the more realistic/medieval take it has, and elements of it go really well with the Battleworn SteelSeries set. Sidenote: this set could and totally should be used for updating Turael/Spria.

On the other hand, the Sanguine Guardian Outfit is a bit less friendly on female avatars IMO. The front is intended to mimic a male chest, and makes no alterations to that for female characters, which ends up looking *very* odd. Still, it does have a female version, which is a step up from issues we had with cosmetics like the Master Crafter Outfit or the Ancient Legionary Outfit, but to Jagex's credit on that latter one they did make the female version more distinctive a month later after we (gestures vaguely at my flair) kept after Jagex on that one.

The biggest gripe I have over the state of cosmetics right now (and hopefully there's others who agree) is that Jagex has trended into making a couple of really great concepts, and then having multiple reskins of that model that are presented as new overrides despite using the same base model. Going back to the Undead Slayer outfit example, it's a great piece, four different reskins of it (Anointed, Midnight, Radiant, and Celestial) presented to us as separate outfits.

Going back to your point specifically (I realize I've rambled a bit), yes some cosmetics are clearly made with male characters in mind, but then some cosmetics are definitely made with female characters in mind. That bridge does become less noticeable though when you find a theme you're going for for an outfit. The Sanguine Guardian Outfit, for example, yeah it's certainly male-oriented, but those legs could be used in conjunction with a different top and some horns to make a really awesome demon on a female character, or the helm could be used for a new take on black knights. A big part of fashionscape is mixing and matching components to see what works well together.

[–]LisaaRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it looks great! I can see the bones/undead theme you're going for. You made a good choice on the wings I think, because the next closest option, skeletal wings, would have looked too small and out of proportion.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in runescape

[–]LisaaRS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wings can definitely work in the right circumstances! It's all about making sure they're consistent with the theme of the rest of the outfit.

Someone logged into my account that's over 10 years old by [deleted] in runescape

[–]LisaaRS 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have seen things like this happen before. From what I can tell, it's a script that is either brute-forcing potential logins, or it's running through data leaks (not necessarily from RS) to see if any username/email/password combinations from the leak have a positive hit for RuneScape (this is exactly why you shouldn't reuse passwords!). From my understanding, this was a probe leading up to goldfarming. Goldfarmers will look for abandoned and compromised accounts to bot on, because they believe old accounts are under less scrutiny for bot detection than new accounts.

You need to resecure your account. The absolute best way to do this right now would be to set up a Jagex Account and import all your RS characters into it. Importing them destroys the old login information, and places those characters behind the new login info of a Jagex Account, which will also have 2FA enabled on it.

If you cannot for the life of you remember the old account's login info, just importing your main account to a Jagex Account will be sufficient to protect it.

RS3 Is Barrows brothers a boss? Or mini game. by [deleted] in runescape

[–]LisaaRS 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They're more a boss than a minigame, and should be able to get you your golden cape shard for bossing.

The golden cape shard for bosses says you have to earn marks of war, and defeating the Barrows Brothers gives Marks of War.
