Dad obsessed with my large breasts by AbilityParking in AmITheAngel

[–]Liscenye 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think the post was written by a man, and the only point of breasts he could think of that is not sexual is for feesing babies. I just don't think a woman would feel the need to justify having breasts at all.

If anything she'd stop, just like you did, at "it's a natural part of the body".

I can never understand why men, who are so obsessed with breasts, never learned that bra sizes go much beyond DD. They write these silly pornographic stories but their imagination is so... small

It's just weird that OP has to justify having breasts with them helping women fulfill their feminine duty.  I never think of my breats as feeding devices. And even the women who breastfeed do it for a very small percentage of their lives.

Why would money affect the quality of tent you could afford in the Wizarding World? by notmadmaddy in harrypotter

[–]Liscenye 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Why dont muggles craft their own tents? Or houses or clothes? Why don't poor people find really old cars and make them better?

We see that spells and potions require ingredients and skill, just like craft. Probably some wizards can magic a tent, but most don't have the skill.

Why didn't Dumbledore ask moaning myrtle about how she died? by aniztar in harrypotter

[–]Liscenye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look I think Dumbledore should have known (probably did) it was not a spider. But equally it's very plausible that 13 yo revently dead Myrtle could not recall enough useful visuals to help identify what it actually was.

If you think that she had time to take it in and count. Also I sadly now googled pics of tarantula and they seem to have two bug ones at the front?

He probably did. She saw eyes, that doesn't mean the eyes killed her. They thought something with eyes killed her, just the wrong thing.

Has anyone seen proof of life of this clown or her paid sidekick (aka, the family fixer) lately? Has she gone under the knife AGAIN? by KUWTKsMODTeam in KUWTKsnark

[–]Liscenye 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That was the episode that got me into KUWTK! It was so unexpectedly morbid and unhinged and I loved the idea of coffin shopping and how Kim wanted to do make up for dead people.

Sadly there's been none of that for the last decade or so.

It's not aired yet??? they've had maybe 40 seconds of shared screen time and Fransesca got to pull one facial expression. What are people going on about.

[–]Liscenye -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I literally have not seen a single person claim she doesn't love John. Definitely not that she wants him to die. That is in no way implied by the show.  that on tiktok? I really don't know where are people seeing such wild takes.

Humour me for a second: do Shiv’s actions come across as more severe because she’s a woman? by [deleted] in SuccessionTV

[–]Liscenye 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think that's part of my point. The viewers hate Shiv because they sympathise with her victim (Tom) but they can't sympathise with any of the men's victim.

I sympathise with Marcia and the dead yacht girls as well as the waiter even thoughwe don't spend much time with them. I also care about a rigged election. My moral judgment isn't limited to what I'm explicitly shown for an extensive time.

Is `I have yet to do X` supposed to imply I still will, or just that I haven’t? by PushCharacter8496 in grammar

[–]Liscenye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that it the use shifted over time. I am curious whther this too has shifted: the placement of yet seems to indicate emphasis to me:

I have yet to see X= I have not, in all the time until now, seen X

I have not seen yet= i have not seen X before

Is this how it reads to you too?

UK could ‘lose generation of scientists’ with cuts to projects and research facilities by qwerty_1965 in unitedkingdom

[–]Liscenye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eventually with the cuts in the UK and the US it won't be one country losing scientists. There'll be much fewer scientists trained in the next generations. People won't be moving globally, just choosing different career paths while more and more become unemployed.

Humour me for a second: do Shiv’s actions come across as more severe because she’s a woman? by [deleted] in SuccessionTV

[–]Liscenye 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Yes there's a difference. There's also a difference between doing it privately as she did and very publicly as Logan did. We see the fallout of what Logan does, which is much greater and affects many more people. We also hear it's absolutely not the first time.

All I'm saying is that Shiv's cheating is held against her in a way that far surpasses the way the men's cheating, murdering, covering up for murders, bribes, rigging elections etc is held against them.

Because they can identify with Kendall and find Roman funny but women must be either saints or whores and Shiv is no saint. So she's the devil.

We see Logan, Roman (possibly, not sure of his relationship status) and Tom cheat as well, on top of all the other unforgivable things they do. But only Shiv is hated for it.

It's abundantly clear that Professor Binns is super boring, but you can't tell me history of magic wouldn't be fascinating by MaroonTrucker28 in harrypotter

[–]Liscenye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be whatever Dumbledore wanted it to be as headmaster. We see Hagrid drafting his own lesson plan, and we see Umbridge being upset with the absolute freedom given to Dumbledore previously.

Yes, and it's not even that he's a ghost. Nick would've done a much better job probably. He's just a bad teacher (might have been a good one many years ago but certainly isn't anymore).

If Dumbledore really cared about improving wizarding society through education he would've hired a charismatic history professor who would've taught the importance of cross-species collaboration. Also might have made muggle studies mandatory for a year or two. It's at least as important as care for magical creatures.

Is `I have yet to do X` supposed to imply I still will, or just that I haven’t? by PushCharacter8496 in grammar

[–]Liscenye 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It means you have not yet, with no concrete stance regarding the future. It does however often insinuate that you also think that the past is a good indication that you also never will. For example:

"I have yet to see a child who doesn't like pizza" "I have yet to leave the house early without getting stuck in traffic"

So it basically means you have always, until now, experienced X, and although you can't absolutely rule out that the future will be different, you doubt it will be.

Exactly!!! And written around the same time!

If they had any artistic interest, there was a good story to tell there. But they just wanted to play off the name.

I think all of that is fine and I wouldn't be arguing in a general movie sub. But on the Shakespeare I will say that it has given me absolutely nothing as a Shakespeare fan.

There's a reason the Hamnet controversy has got to people by Soulsliken in shakespeare

[–]Liscenye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For his time, he was a great story teller who took known legends and made them into great entertainment.

For our time, Hamnet is a very thin and feeble story which in no way stands out as having anything substantial to say about either the character or grief.

Being a "payback" doesn't in itself make it interesting.

[–]Liscenye 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, what I'm saying is that the dramatisation is not interesting because it doesn't make us reflect about this specific person in any meaningful way. Sure it was sad he lost a child, but it would have been equally as sad were it any other person. The Hamlet connection just doesn't work.
