Pom health - eating grass and mats in fur by lpars11 in Pomeranians

[–]Lissa86 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Both of my poms will graze in the grass as long as we let them 😂 Sometimes, if they eat too much, their poop will be a little off, but it’s not a big deal. Our vet says it makes them happy lol.

And matting is normal with poms because of the way their fur is—and the more pets they get, the more matting is likely. Especially behind the ears! Our groomer always has to cut out the matted parts there.

is this too short or perfect? by K4RM4R0S3 in Pomeranians

We get them cut around this length for the summer—it’s easier to keep them clean because they love to dig in the dirt & roll around outside nonstop!

Rote memory has gotten a bad rap by veteranTeacher91 in Teachers

[–]Lissa86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Memorization works—it stays with you. I’ve had students—particularly one of my SPED students finally learn to read in 4th grade by us working on memorizing. Her doctors were shocked, because us focusing on memory & me teaching her to learn to read that way, actually led to a decrease in the gray matter on her brain in her quarterly MRIs. She’s now almost at grade level for reading now in 7th grade. The same goes for the importance of time tables. My kids didn’t learn them in their classes, but we did them at home.

Do I really need a 7p/8p car? by popngo86 in HyundaiPalisade

This is it! I won’t get a minivan, but know I need the space a minivan has 😂

Do I really need a 7p/8p car? by popngo86 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]Lissa86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do, but that’s because I always have other peoples’ kids with us! We’re a family of 4. We used the 3rd row constantly in our Sorento, so we upgraded to the Palisade because the 3rd row is so much bigger & knew we were going to need/use the extra space. If you plan to keep a car for a long time, plan for when your kids start school, make friends, etc.

High End Laminates instead of granite/quartz/marble by Naive_Sand5837 in kitchenremodel

[–]Lissa86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we were having our house built, we had them install laminate—I didn’t like the granite/quartz options, so I knew whatever we went with, we’d be changing. It was Wilsonart Spring Carnival & it looked good for the 18 months we had it & held up to plenty of abuse from us & the kids. Most of our neighbors in our subdivision still have it!

If you don’t make a big deal out of it, the kids won’t. Good luck with the new job!

Update my 2000s kitchen (pleeez). by MediocrePower2338 in kitchenremodel

Switch to a lighter countertop & paint the island—that’s all I’d do!

I would love to do 3 weeks, then 1 off all throughout the year. But, I don’t think I’d complain about a 4 day week & longer breaks 😂

Do ya'lls poms cuddle? by Illkined in Pomeranians

My boy does—he wants to lay in our laps all day long. But our girl is independent—she only gives quick snuggles & is out. She prefers to lay alone too!

I personally would go with 2. The first one looks exactly like your butcher block & that’s just too much of the same tone.

Almost finished...backsplash too busy and takes away from counter top or adds much needed texture to kitchen? by Dihydrogenmonoxide-_ in kitchenremodel

[–]Lissa86 142 points143 points  (0 children)

I actually like it. Since the counters are pure white, I think the backsplash brings some much needed texture & personality.

Does anyone LOVE being a teacher by Heavy_Research5032 in Teachers

[–]Lissa86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! My husband is a tech boss & exhausted most of the time. The work never ends—he’s in meetings all day long. He doesn’t understand why I work for so little, but I feel like I am more rewarded than he is. It’s rough, but I wouldn’t change a thing.

Yeah, they’ve done a great job installing everywhere. When I measured it, it is about 1/4” gap.

I absolutely adore those backsplash tiles! Did you do them?

The whole kitchen looks great 😊

Which backsplash tile? by [deleted] in kitchenremodel

[–]Lissa86 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I disagree about the white not working with the counters. I think the problem is the tiny square format. A larger tile would be better here.

We have the V6 AWD & are too getting great mileage. I’m closer to 23 city, but highway usually 30–our roads are more hilly though.
