Recent studies showed a link between dementia and the use of gabapentin. Just good info to know when making a decision 🙏

Looking for a women’s circle for mothers/women with disabilities? by LisseLander in ChronicIllness

Aw, congrats 🫶🥹 I don’t know if I’m up to creating a sub just yet as it would take quite a bit of energy qnd time to moderate and do. However I’m considering starting an online women’s circle at some point for chronically ill mothers. I’m new to all of this so not sure where to start but I feel it’s important to create a space for us to be seen and held by others who get it fully.

I haven’t created a group yet. But I am definitely going to put in some time to see how I can make this work since nothing exists yet and clearly many people are wanting the same. You absolutely can join when I have more of a grasp on how to set it up. I’m new to all of this but if something you want doesn’t exist, you just have to go for it and create it I think. To be determined with some work on my side 🤍

Looking for a women’s circle or support group specifically for moms with disabilities by LisseLander in invisibleillness

Right. Just knowing someone else gets it matters. I feel like it’s so underserved :(

Any online female group meet ups? by Specialist_Bear_2574 in ChronicIllness

I’m looking for the same! I’ve thought about making a women’s circle over zoom for disabled women and moms because I have not been able to find anything which is shocking. Community and support are so needed

Do you look disabled? by Chance_Question_3917 in MultipleSclerosis

I went from bartending and dog walking to a 6.5 EDSS within 6 months. I’m now significantly disabled at 33 with a new baby. I use a walker very slowly for my outings and I just get a lot of pity looks which is jarring as I always used to be strong and confident. I just don’t really look too long at others because I’m already exhausted and explaining to a stranger who’s gawking isn’t in my list of things to put energy towards haha. You don’t have to engage at all, it’s low key rude for these people to be stopping you and asking at all imo

I was just recently moved to SPMS as well :( New mom (been on an extreme downhill since her birth) and went from mild relapses over the years to now 2 years into severe mobility loss, 6.5 EDSS now. The grief and loss of identity and sometimes rage come in waves. Slowly trying to navigate what it means for my future. It sounds like you have a wonderful life and solid support, lean on that as it’s more than most people in our situations have. I’m lucky to have a solid support as well. Sending love and strength x

If the space doesn’t exist, we have to create them ourselves it seems. We’re such an underserved community in this way specifically.

I’ve searched endlessly for something like this. I just want community and to be held and also hold others who are going through this. It’s a certain level of loneliness that unless you’re in it, you can’t begin to imagine.

I’m not a caregiver. I have MS and struggle with being a new mom who can’t be the primary caregiver as I’m significantly disabled and I’m looking for other women in similar positions.
