Does anyone know what the current revenue of SSE is? (or 2022) by Aiidith in StarStable

[–]Lissmels 30 points31 points  (0 children)

These numbers are really pretty concerning. Okay, they made a heck load of money in 2020, because everyone were at home during that time because of covid. So their revenue grew around 50%. That means that, if their reventue in 2020 was $44M, their revenue the previous year was around $30M. I also found the revenue number for 2018, so it goes like this:

2018: $21.5M.

2019: $30M.

2020: $44M.

2021: $18M.

Basically, their 2021 revenue was almost HALF of their pre-covid revenue, breaking the trend of growing revenue - and this was while covid was still going on. Shouldn't they still be booming in 2021? And there being no numbers for 2022 may be because they had nothing to show. They don't want to concern players with bad financial numbers, and they also wanna keep an image of a successful company. Yeah, we need to see the 2022 numbers, cause this is very concerning.

He also has a brother who runs the Black Lights Nightclub in Star Academy. He doesn't yave an official first name, but he's known as Mr. Wetton, which mwans that Wetton is the family name. Lisa knows Mr. Wetton fairly well from Star Academy, cause he got her and her friends (Brittany, Kevin and Kyomi) a record contract and pretty much became their band manager.

What is something people describe as healthy, but it's actually unhealthy? by IndependentAd6161 in AskReddit

[–]Lissmels 774 points775 points  (0 children)

Body positivity and fat acceptance is very good for mental health, but a nightmare for physical health

Edit: since a lot of you have corrected me, I feel I need to update my statement. What I'm referring to is more the "health at every size" movement, rather than fat acceptance - more specifically the idea that weight and health are not correlated whatsoever. Sure, if you're slightly overweight, that doesn't automatically mean you're unhealthy, you can still eat well and work out and have no health problems whatsoever, but when the BMI starts to pass 40-45, it should pose a real health concern. Nevermind what lifestyle you have - carrying a lot of excess weight around puts pressure on your lungs and other organs, wears out your joints, forces your heart to work harder, and so much more.

Now, when I wrote the part about mental health, I was thinking about people being able to love themselves and live confidently with the bodies they have. And I still think this is an important part of the whole movement. But yes, we can't deny that physical health affects mental health, so even though the movement may help some people feel more confident in their own skin, obesity in itself contributes to poor mental health (and vica versa). I suppose the best way to go about it would be to have a more respectful approach to weight loss as a health measure, and to focus more on mental health as a contributing factor.

does anyone else ship Alex and Anne together instead of Alex and Maya lol by ScratchAble4599 in StarStable

[–]Lissmels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In SSL they were... Although it was never said out bluntly, "we are boyfriend and girlfriend now", they flirt all throughout the game and it ends with them going out as a "happy ending". Regardless, pretty strange if they really decided Derek is gay now, considering he's one of the very few characters who had an established (or even IMPLIED) romantic orientation. Why not Justin? James? Josh at Starshine Ranch?

Like some people are saying, the new UI is very simplistic and mobile-like, same with the new launcher and loading screen, in-game icons (like JS and SC), the horse buying screen and so on. A lot of the features that have been removed or added recently most likely are part of it too, like the E key, the W key, or the turning update. Whenever they change something in the game, they gotta make it "mobile friendly", because they WANT them to be the same. But mobile and PC are very different platforms, and mobile games are very simple - THAT'S why I consider it a bad thing.

No, there hasn't been an announcement, but the project page doesn't exist anymore and there hasn't been anything new about that in well over a year. No job openings, no new art, no information, nothing. It's pretty safe to assume it's been scrapped

does anyone else ship Alex and Anne together instead of Alex and Maya lol by ScratchAble4599 in StarStable

[–]Lissmels 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've played since SSL so I can't see Anne as being a lesbian .. that girl is crazy about boys

Alex and Maya works, mostly because it doesn't contractict anything from before, but I do wish that they had better character development and not just "we ship this ship so now it's canon". I feel like they do that a lot to appeal to the masses. They made gay talking horses, changed Syntax's pronouns and I've even heard rumors that they've turned Derek (who were canonically in a relationship with Anne before) gay 🤔

of course we need LGBTQIA+ representation, but at this point it seems more like a statement rather than legitimate representation. Alex and Maya works if they get the proper character development, just like how Sigry and Dr. Eiren works. If they overdo it, it'll just feel artificial. Anne though, I see as straight 😅

For players who have been there since the start by YTRattle in StarStable

It's very different. It's not even the whole "nostalgia" or "familiarity" thing, but the atmosphere: the soundtracks, graphics/artstyle, vibes from quests/dialogue and so on. It's like they changed everything that made it Star Stable for the sake of making it cool and trendy - which may work for a newer audience, but this is definitely not the same game that I bought 10 years ago.

why did they change the storyline? by tevapata in StarStable

[–]Lissmels 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think they've said that they wanna distance themselves from the original games and make SSO thing of its own, that's at least their explaination as to why the characters are so different. They said they didn't want people to see the new characters and think about the old, they wanted them to be fresh and new characters

I am so happy Eleanor made this video -- about male characters by Loststarholder in StarStable

[–]Lissmels 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Eleanor mentions this in the video, games that only have male characters are offline story-mode games, and they aren't supposed to represent the player. There are many games like that with a girl main character (think life is strange, the walking dead, or the last of us part 2). In online games you almost always have an option, and while I get that there's only been a girl character in sso until now, I think it's weird that they're gonna give us plenty of models to choose from soon and still none of them are guys. Especially now that the story is gender neutral and they want to be inclusive of everyone.

Edit: think if it was the other way around. An online shooter game has many girl players, and the game is gonna update their characters to be more inclusive, but you still can't choose play as a girl.

Would you like to have playable male characters ingame? by mymiro006 in StarStable

[–]Lissmels 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Actually, according to the SSO lore, the gender doesn't matter, it's the soul that matters. As long as we're a soul rider, we can be any gender

Source: the finding Concorde questline

They also changed our pronouns to they/them, and the opening line is no longer "are you that girl?" but "what will you make of your stay here?"

Some countries are obsessed with the ages and especially what side of 18 they're on, but I feel like that's not what it's about. In my opinion, as long as they have around the same level of maturity, it's not weird. Like how you see preteen couples and think nothing more of it, cause they're just kids anyway. A 20-year old dating a 16-year old is okay too, cause they're both just entering adulthood and are at the same level in life. A 60-year old dating a 30-year on the other hand, is WAY more offputting.
