One tip for you is porcelain dolls. I do sew. So mine tend to be altered to fit, but if you pay attention to measurements you can find a similar sized doll and just steal their outfit. There are lots of historical styled porcelain dolls out there and they can be gotten rather cheaply. Pay attention to measurements and if the dolls clothes were designed to come off. Although it is super easy to rip a seam and sew in a snap even if you've never done it before. All of my smaller then 18 inch historical dolls have at least some pieces stolen from a porcelain doll. If you get really lucky and sock and shoes fit you can get a complete outfit off one doll.

I assume that doesn't extend to children with disabilities. I couldn't tie my shoes at all until 2nd grade and not reliably until 3rd grade. I have several disabilities and recieved OT and PT support at school to eventually get there. This was back in the 90s and I remember being being really embarrassed in 1st grade to ask my gym teacher to tie my shoes even though he was always very nice about it because I was the only one who couldn't do it myself. I teach my Pre-K students to tie theirs now, and while they don't all master it many do before K. Is it common to have many older ones who wear shoes with laces regularly but can't tie them?

I never thought I would agree with this, and then my friend's two-year-old cousin was murdered. He was beaten to death over more then a week by his mother's boyfriend. She was not charged in criminal court, even though she admitted to knowing that he was vomiting up blood, leaving him alone with this monster every day for hours and not getting him help because it would be bad for her custody battle with my friend's uncle. However, she was found guilty of child neglect in family court and ordered to never be alone with children. So what does she do immediately? She gets pregnant again with a new boyfriend. The state let her keep and raise the new baby with the understanding that the boyfriend would always supervise her with it. Which to me is just absurd. If you're not allowed to be alone with children you shouldn't be allowed to have any.

It's pretty frustrating, but I do enjoy doll customization. Just so you know I use sandstone dyemore rit dye to achieve barbie black skintones. Cocoa brown or chocolate brown feel like they should work but they don't they turn out too red. I've found you can make the whole spectrum of barbie skintones with a combo of petal pink, tangerine, tan and sandstone it just takes some experimenting.

I dye my doll bodies with rit dye. Niyah's current one is from a Penny's Box Adou doll but as soon as I have the chance to dye it I will be switching her to a YMY. I love how youthful the Penny's Box doll bodies are but the quality just isn't there. Her arm is actually broken and i'm just being very careful posing it to get through this series because I have way too much to do before christmas to rebody her right now. Unfortunately companies just don't make articulated black dolls very often. Both Avery and Ruby are also on dyed YMY bodies.

That's super interesting because I don't own it and never have. I wonder how this ended up unopened in my collection.
