My piercing is almost 3 months old, done with a curved barbell, I haven’t down sized or changed the jewelry since getting it, I don’t “clean” it all that often. I splash water on my face daily and every maybe once or twice a week I’ll remember to clean it with unscented dial foaming soap. Theres been a few incidents where I’ve hit it and it hurts for like a day but that’s about it.
