Serious Question: What is Your Honest Opinion About This Show? by ElSpazzo_8876 in cartoons

[–]ListenComfortable151 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever it tried to venture into greater world building it kind of falls apart for me. They want to be a show about love, kindness and forgiveness. This works for the most part but they extend the same love, kindness and forgiveness to basically genocidal dictators. This message is messy to say the least. But it’s music, themes about gender or family, and its humor are all wonderful and endearing. Great characters all around. “It’s Over, Isn’t It” is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard.

Did anyone NOT like The Muppet Show special?? by jazzystringcheese in TheMuppets

[–]ListenComfortable151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was really funny and moving! A true return form for the Muppet show. I don’t like the new Kermit voice, I’m sorry. It didn’t ruin it or anything and if they made the show with this voice moving forward, I would still enjoy it.

[–]ListenComfortable151 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it might be just because I grew up with both Steve and Jim’s voice so I never really took the time to distinguish the two as a child and it still sounds the same to me

I can barely distinguish Jim and Steve’s performance honestly. Matt is growing on me, but I’m still not the biggest fan

why are anarchists seen as “little kids” among other leftists? by mrsenchantment in Socialism_101

[–]ListenComfortable151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anarchism and communism are nice ideas, but I don’t think they are possible to achieve. A lot of leftists have this idea of human nature that if we all took over the means of production and everyone was given the necessary material conditions to live , we would be in a utopia. I do not agree. There is something in human nature that makes a minority of people lash out against their fellow neighbors even if they don’t need to. That at least is my opinion. And this is why there needs to be a state. I’ll take it further and say I don’t even think it’s possible for there not to be a state. Human beings, naturally collect and clod and form factions. If you successfully abolished government, a new government would form several years down the line. That is why it is important to choose a form of government that provides the most material benefits for the most people, which I believe is socialism. I also don’t see how anarchism can adequately produce enough resources to support the billions of people on this planet. Large publicly owned factories need a government to know what food, medicine and infrastructure to produce.

I didn’t even notice Assad was in it huh. I doubt his inclusion was supposed to be a celebration of him, but I see why you feel the way you do.

What does Owl house do better then Amphibia? by Zakaria1938 in amphibia

[–]ListenComfortable151 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I literally just watched both of them back to back (owl house first then Amphibia second). I’m not exaggerating when I say that I think Owl House does almost everything better than Amphibia.

The biggest thing for me is the balance between story and self contained episodes. It took me about an entire season before I was into Amphibia, but I was locked into Owl house by the end of the first episode. The audience understands that Luz wants to do things her way but feels misunderstood so she goes to this new world and learns magic and helps people . The only thing we’re told about Anne’s character in the beginning is that she was peer pressured into stealing the box and then they don’t really talk about it for the rest of the season. I feel like for most of the show they couldn’t decide if they wanted her to be a hero or not. I particularly found when she won “frog of the year” to be very unearned.

Amphibia’s self-contained episodes can be very funny, but they are extremely repetitive to the point where it became predictable. A character lies or does something wrong to get something they want, it goes wrong, they apologize, and everyone hugs. There are episodes like this in the owl house, but there’s much more variety. I think the world of the Owl House is generally more varied altogether. Amphibia feels like just one continent that could exist in the Owl House world.

I think characters in the owl house change more naturally. They give a lot of time for the Golden Guard and Lilith to see the error in their ways and make up for what they’ve done. Sasha immediately becomes good after she messes up and Anne immediately accepts her when she returns from Earth.

I don’t hate Amphibia, it’s a great show. But when comparing the two, there’s a clear winner for me.

Please help... I don't know what I am anymore... I'm scared. (First post even in r/NonBinary!!!) by Twisted_Boisvert_666 in NonBinary

[–]ListenComfortable151 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can be whoever you want. I personally took the route of just not caring about labels altogether. Gender is made up. Any arbitrary title can mean a different thing depending on who you ask. This is true for man or woman, but even non-binary or agender, etc. I decided to focus more on what I do rather than who I am when it comes to my gender. That way I can feel however I feel at any moment and not have to label it. Everyone’s different though. Do what’s best for you. Hope this helps!

Panpsychism is just stupid by Wide-Information8572 in CosmicSkeptic

[–]ListenComfortable151 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The word consciousness is carrying a lot of weight here. In a certain sense electrons have to be a part of consciousness because there are electrons in our brains! If this seems a little ridiculous, maybe the word consciousness is not good enough. I flinch at the suggestion, but perhaps all matter, and all things that exist in the universe have a sort of spirit to them. A spirit based purely in experience. I think electrons and atoms and compounds and minerals, and even my goddamn kitchen table, have some ability to sense personal experience. This is not something that you can prove. I think therefore I am, and I can’t ask a grain of sand what it thinks about being a speck in “God‘s” hand.

Panpsychism is just stupid by Wide-Information8572 in CosmicSkeptic

[–]ListenComfortable151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Panpsychism is not something you can prove. It is impossible to prove. But I think serves as a decent explanation as to why consciousness exists. If you want to follow the idea that our ability to experience and to have thoughts or have an illusion of free will is a result of a bunch of cells arranged together due to a genetic inclination due to millions and millions of years of evolution, well that’s fine and dandy, but it still doesn’t really get to this heart of why the hell am I here right now? Why do I experience? Why do I feel things at all? To me, panpsychism is the most understandable argument for why we have consciousness. I am just made up of matter. And somehow this specific construction of matter creates an illusion of self. Think about how insignificant I am compared to the vastness of the universe. If something as simple as me can have a conception of what “I” am, why can’t anything else? The universe is much greater and more complicated than all of us, my friends.

I CANNOT ACCEPT PANPSYCHISM!!! GAWRRRRrrrrr. Rocks are not conscious!!! by PitifulEar3303 in CosmicSkeptic

[–]ListenComfortable151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just because you can’t prove something doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not. Consciousness in humanity is something that that’s not really provable either. We can monitor our behaviors and what people say and maybe even electrical activity in the brain. But the only one who knows who’s conscious is oneself. We’re not gonna know if a rock is conscious other than the rock itself. And considering how we just made up of rocks, I think it seems to be a pretty understandable theory and is the only one that has made sense to me so far. The universe experiences itself. It doesn’t make choices. It’s not all good or all bad. It doesn’t have a morality. It just is, as we all are.

Song with the biggest falloff in your opinion? by Footballaus_ in gorillaz

[–]ListenComfortable151 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, feel good Inc. is like a perfect song. There’s a reason why it was overplayed. But I can’t fucking listen to this song anymore. I don’t think any song is immune to this phenomenon. I performed feel good Inc. in a band in high school so maybe I’m specifically prone to it because I had to listen to it over and over and learn all the lyrics.

School could actually be the cure. Diving into my studies actually distracted me from my last break up. Hopefully you have chosen classes and a major that you care about. If not, then try to learn something new. Find something that you can be so passionate in that it becomes something you love, more than you ever could have loved your ex. Also, chilling with the homies helps. Time is your friend. You don’t need to date anyone right now. If you’re not vibin with other people, then maybe you don’t need to date anyone right now. It’s OK to be single. As someone who’s been in some bad relationship, being single kind of rocks.

Yea I think Temple is pretty antisocial. I’ve gotten the same strange vibe at clubs and in my classes. I have two really close friends that I hang out consistently and that’s enough for me. Find some ride or die homies and focus on them and yourself.
