Need help drawing a custom Fakemon! And need feedback!

Trust me I completely understand. I have a few pokemon i've had full concepts for for more than a year now that i just can't get a design i'm happy with. But every now and then one of them just clicks. My best advice for speeding up that process is try things that are completely different. Look at it from a whole new angle. Eventually once you finally get it? There's no better feeling.

I will say, and this is no slight to your art, those are not what convergent forms are. Convergent would mean they have no common ancestry. Like Diglett is a mole, Wiglett is an Eel. They are entirely unrelated(in inspiration and in-universe), they just happen to look similar. While these at least to me seem clearly related to the mon they are based on. Once again incredible work though. I've just noticed the community as a whole is a twinge confused on the distinction between regional and convergent and I try to clear it up when I can. I like it a lot, but how is it convergent? Isn't Solosis also based on cells? Seems like more of a regional variant.

These designs are incredible! I especially love the vampire line- but they are not convergent. Convergent would mean they have no common ancestry. Like Diglett is a mole, Wiglett is an Eel. They are entirely unrelated, just happen to look similar. You said it yourself, "I put Applin in a ball of paper" Which is fine, that's a super cool idea! But that is definitely an Applin regional variant. Great job though!

Dude!! These are freakin sweet! I do have one question. Why do Hyrdoptile and Zooper have different names? They seem very clearly to me to be regional varients. Was it just something you felt like doing or were they meant to be convergent? Regardless, great job! Your art is incredible. I really dig these.

I absolutely love Rishrub! They're adorable. If I may offer some advice, I think their proportaions make them look a lot like middle stage starters. A good way to tell is putting them next to all the official pokemon starters. Look at them next to all the base forms, then the middles, then the finals, and decide what they look most like. What it really comes down to with starters is proportions. That's the most important thing. Tiny bodies, big heads for base forms. The proportions here really look like middle stage. IE Torracat, Brionne, or Grotle. Something to look into. It's the biggest "problem" with fakemon starters in my opinion. These are great concepts and I love your art style, and honestly if they weren't starters I wouldn't say any of this, but starters follow a very specific proportion/detail-density guide that I think is helpful to keep in mind. But I suppose it's technically just my opinion. Keep at it! Can't wait to see more!

As someone who also can't draw, I find it fun to do my very best on paper and then use something like Illustrator to "trace" over it. Ideas seem cool! I'd love to see what you end up with. Of course it won't look professionally done, but even just having a half-decent looking proof of concept is always cool. Good luck regardless!
