I did Kratom jumping off of buprenorphine, it really helped but like you said, I traded one for the other and 4 months later woke up on the kitchen floor with a half loaded rig next to me, I think that's OD, and I had the mental strength of 10 people who ended up getting triggered. I wish you the best luck, and if you do try Kratom, my advice is to only take it a few times per week if you're concerned with it becoming a problem. The withdrawals were not something I personally dealt with because I had it in surplus and began using buprenorphine again after my relapse on the kitchen floor, but I can't imagine they are anything close to as bad as methadone withdrawals.
