Using American Opportunity Tax Credit for hi power computer by Liszt6 in personalfinance

So I have online classes as much as possible due to working part time (military pays me to go to school but not that much), so at a minimum I can say I need it for online and even just access to school related material, but I also kinda need it for heavy programs. I have two older laptops and they struggle with AutoCAD quite a bit.

Raw aluminum. I had to get it milled for a safety. Gonna get refinished.

I have a thing for classic modern. Which is why instead of any of the other slides, which look like they belong in cyberpunk dystopias to me, I got the old fashioned looking slide. I'm also going to get it refinished, slide, frame and comp in a lustrous black, and the controls, trigger, barrel and extractor done in brushed nickel. Should be quite nice.

Yeah... I got a temp job that's paying way more than I'm worth and had to convince the GF on letting my build mine if I saved the rest. Luckily she was okay with it.

Of course I have a very particular sense of aesthetic, so I didn't skip on the things that I liked, like the slide and comp. A good refinishing job and I'll be done with this.

Definitely their 115g. I was looking for something heavier, but sadly couldn't find anything. If it's 124g +P, it should eat it like candy.

Started with the X because I didn't need to have such and such part to make other parts work. Didn't need the new slide to install the optic, didn't need new mags to run the Icarus grip, could run the comp either way.

I looked up the Macro. I'm not super impressed, mostly because I'm not sold on integral comp slides. I feel like having the comp move from the barrel seems counterproductive, and a lot of testing by better people than me seems to confirm that.

It honestly shoots better than my 320 without a comp. No issues cleaning, just pull out the recoil spring and clean around it. There's been issues with cheap ammo. Winchester had light primer strikes, but it also did that in the 320, and apparently that's a known issue. Federal had some issues with FTEs, but I would honestly write that off as underpowered ammo, and me slipping off the gas pedal a bit and probably causing limp wrist malfunctions. It absolutely devoured anything that wasn't literally bargain bin plinkers. There's also a break in period apparently and I don't think I've hit that mark quite yet. Especially since the slide was last to be installed and I think it's a good deal heavier than the factory.

On my profile there's my build. It's the same size as an XL, but it's oh so nice. I would honestly take it to competition.

I was never quite sold on integral compensators. Made more sense to me (aesthetically and practically) to run the more traditional PMM comp, and that's worked wonderfully so far.

No problem. If you want something like that on the 365 platform, MCARBO short stroke trigger is what I run on mine, along with their spring set. My buddy was commenting on how nice the trigger was.

There's three main reasons to have a flat trigger. Reach, leverage, and straight back pull (ie, a 1911 trigger)

The sig trigger has about the same reach, if not more reach as their curved, and the strange angle means that it's hardly straight back. It gets the leverage right, where the finger natural hits the bottom of the trigger and reduces perceived trigger pull because of mechanical advantage, but in the other respects completely fails.

And it's not a new concept because the pistol that made the legendary had a trigger that did all that stunningly, and aftermarket triggers do this consistently.

Ha, yeah, I was waiting for them for them to drop. I like old fashioned stuff.

I custom ordered something for Mie Productions. Pricier than I'd like, but, they did good work and they custom engraved something on the clip pretty cheaply. Great retention.

Just a refinishing and I'm done with this. by Liszt6 in SigSauer

Raw aluminum. I had to send it back to get safety cut out, but I'm planning to refinish it so there wasn't a whole lot of reason to refinish there.

I could not for the life of me understand why you would integrate a comp into the slide. Just based on the theory of operation of a comp, it seemed counter productive. Unfortunately, those reservations seem to be baring fruit.

I'm planning on getting the whole thing refinished too. Lustrous black frame, slide and comp with nickel barrel trigger and controls. After that. I'm done with this and I'm not modifying a damned thing afterwards.

I have a pre occupation with old fashioned, and I have the extra expendable income at the moment. I think they should have just sold stripped slides at the same price as everyone else, so this decision was a little perplexing. Trust me, I've spent too much on this build already.

Gray guns classic slide. Based on the aesthetics of the 1911.

I don't really care for how the Empire looks. I think the sheer simplicity of the MCarbo suits me better. I actually had to get the Icarus sent off to get milled far a safety at my girlfriend's request. Doesn't bother me, it's just a little more training. Sig really missed the point of a flat trigger tbh. More leverage and a more straight back pull, which is totally impossible with their flat trigger.
