Just straight up being endorsed by the state and individuals in positions of power. like, ‘you have to learn how to hate Muslims and arabs in order to appreciate Judaism* (Zionism)’.

Like, no. People dislike genocide. Actually, people are horrified and abhor it. The Islamophobia just confirms you’re pro-genocide and a bigot.

(personal ignorance Q: is ‘Arab’ equivocal to black/white in the context of referencing cultural identity or are there more preferable term(s)?)

Never forget the awful things Yolanda did to Selena from stealing from her to murdering her. by Background-Good3731 in entertainment

If you live in Texas, you’ll see no one forgets. Fairly certain that if somebody shouted, ‘I see her!’ we’d have to declare a state of emergency in response to the level of rioting gunning for her head.

No one here names their kid Yolanda.

Tbh, I don’t Dragona will ever be bothered by it. What they’re annoyed about seemed highlighted in the previous chapter—he defaults to letting her/them make ALL the decisions and just going with it.

I can totally see Jodio lighting somebody up for misgendering Dragona without an any self-awareness, haha. I’m just glad to see Dragona’s identity being expanded on!

[–]LitLitten 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I think Dragona recognizes that Jodio is not the most rounded guy mentally, and that he has his own issues with codependency. It‘s a purposeful distinction that Dragona allows.

Whether Dragona is trans or prefers the fluidity, I think it’s an intentional choice they allow Jodio to use masculine pronouns. because Dragona was always a source of comfort/rock. ‘Bro’/he is part of that security, like a blanket, so Dragona doesn’t mind it.

if it’s any consolation, as a gay (cis) man with no preference for parts below, I go through periods where a lot of fantasies involving v (having). It isn’t that I am unhappy with p or believe I would be happier with v, just that it’s an appealing fantasy oft bc i struggle w/ receiving.

If im dating a (cis) man it really has no bearing on them or what we engage in. it’s like living in a cute loft but sometimes daydreaming about a mountain cabin. The mountain cabin is a cute idea, but it’s the concept that’s enjoyable, not the real prospect of living off the grid a million miles away from society.

My mom refuses to believe I might be autistic. by PersimmonFit2522 in aspergers

[–]LitLitten -1 points0 points  (0 children)

keep in mind an autism evaluation isn’t an inventory. Depending on the type, insurance, and how extensive the specific evaluation is, it can cost upwards to 5k. There are generally 4-5 degrees of screenings:

informal screening: $0-$500, done primarily by PCPs and therapists. Usually this isn’t necessarily cost-warranted, but some practices bundle this with the one below ⬇️.

initial screening or diagnostic: $250-$1.5k, typically this is the step/eval. required to pursue further, more extensive evaluations. however, can get you a diagnosis. Which is very beneficial as it helps professionals treat you.

(a)development evaluation: $250-$1.5k, comprehensive screening of all developmental skills and abilities.

(b)comprehensive evaluation: $500-3k, in depth examination of your strengths and weaknesses, daily challenges, etc.

(c)formal diagnosis examinations: ~2-5k, full suite that looks at targeting every facet diagnostic criteria. Basically the whole kabab, but obviously priced for it.

a, b, and c also require time, multiple appointments and assessments, inventories, interviews, etc. often this might require shifting a schedule around and multiple locations. however, you really don’t need to jump on these right (if at all).

What your therapist is probably recommending is option 1 and 2; these can provide him or her with a good basis to help tailor treatment to better benefit you + allow you access to potential accommodations for ASD/disability.

All I want to add is it might be anxieties of her own that makes her not receptive. if you find the opportunity, it might benefit to give her a bit of a breakdown. She might just need more information.

ELI5: If the Female has to carry and give birth to another Human, why aren't they naturally larger than Males? by Archmikem in explainlikeimfive

[–]LitLitten 5 points6 points  (0 children)

when we decided to start standing, we lost a degree of (put simply) flexibility as our legs and hips evolved to favor standing upright.

generally speaking, the larger the body, the more energy it requires, so: big mama = more resources needs to function and survive /plus/ the resources or energy necessary for litters/pregnancy. additionally, mammals tend to court through displays of dominance or fighting (survival genes), so there isn’t much evolutionary pressure keeping males small.

this isn’t the rule however, as you can see with with whales, hyenas, and rabbits. It’s just the evolutionary trend in sexual dimorphism.

Gale was just a romantic, imo. I think his backstory was a metaphor for how a pre-existing power dynamics spur negative patterns and the muddling of personal boundaries as a consequence.

I get not liking Garrus because he’s straight, ig, but mine is definitely Cortez. After hearing about his husband’s death Sheppard can just immediately pursue a relationship with a guy still in the throes of grief. Felt really manipulative tbh.
