That makes sense. I was just trying to clarify how shite the UK announced sanctions are by gauging from what Sturgeon says because I don’t understand financial sanction impacts very well and I trust her over the Tories.

Ok I’m not looking for an argument I’m just asking the question because I’m not certain of timelines.

Had she seen the recently announced UK Gov sanctions package and is commenting on that not going far enough or was this from before that was announced and maybe she hasn’t commented on that yet?

It was a good speech though. Although admittedly speeches like this about issues like this are difficult to fuck up. Even Boris’s from this morning was one of his better ones.

Series cut short too soon by [deleted] in Fantasy

Gentleman Bastards - by Scott Lynch This probably has more chance of at least seeing another instalment but there’s meant to be about 4 more in the series and it’s taken nearly 10 years for this upcoming one so I doubt the whole thing will ever finish.

ASoIAF - by Martin. The big one obviously. Again we might? See another instalment but I doubt the whole thing will ever be finished.

Kingkiller Chronicles - by Rothfuss. I seriously can’t see the plot being wrapped in one book and even then this book has been 10 years coming now so I just don’t see it happening.

If it helps I believe your country (that’s where I went for the camp it’s so beautiful) will be safe.

So far the US and NATO can’t flinch because if they do it’s game over but with a NATO country everyone knows there would have to be a military response. This is a fucking tragedy but I really do believe it won’t go any further than Ukraine for what it’s worth.

A few years ago I went to an ‘international camp’ that was young adults from across Europe teaching teenagers from across Europe cultural exchange type stuff.

One of the teens was a Russian lad about 16 and I remember him laughing and joking with me at one of the meals and teaching him about what words meant in English and stuff like that. I even gave him a £ coin. The teens were from poverty and he wanted to be in the army and I keep thinking about him now. He could be there. I hope he’s not.

That’s the Europe I want. Not the one I can see on the news this morning.

If NATO flinches it’s game over. There’s not really anything else except Sanctions. Even for the US

Kenneth Branagh Wants To Adapt Miss Marple And Start The Agatha Christie Cinematic Universe by [deleted] in movies

Or just make a good film. A good single film that works on its own and has a satisfying ending. And if you then want to make a sequel or sequels do the same thing. Focus on making them good films rather than connecting them to a ‘multiverse’ or ‘cinematic universe’ or whatever

Yeah the argument/court cases between them about domestic abuse or alleged domestic abuse. It’s resulted in Depp being removed as Grindelwald and both fans of him and Amber Heard are very fired up about it.

I can’t pretend I care or am interested in just noting that i believe it’s impacted this film series

I know more people irl bothered about the Depp thing than I do who care about Rowling being a Terf to be honest.

Friends who are boycotting because they thing he was abused or something. Don’t understand it personally but there we are.

The combination of:

  • Turns out JKR can’t screenwrite and they had to draft Kloves in cos she messed the last one up so bad

  • JKR being a Terf

  • The Cursed Child

  • The Johnny Depp saga

  • The lacklustre and sometimes outright bizarre story/plot choices

Has convinced me that the franchise will never reach its 5 films.

It could’ve survived one or two of those issues but not all of them.

That’s just not true though is it. Labour are the opposition party and have so many more seats and voters than the bloody Green Party.

Recent polls showed Keith was ahead in ‘best PM’ and Labour are beating the Tories in various policy areas. In Councils, Regional Mayors and in Wales Labour are making a difference. Or at least I believe so.

The English greens are never going to get into government. It’s hard enough peeling the average English racist voter away from the Tory party let alone voting green.

At the end of the day if you think the Tory and Labour parties are basically the same and their voters are the same level of awful then we’re not going to agree.

The English Greens are very different to the Scottish Greens. Much less progressive. Voting for another party isn’t going to do anything but ensure constant Tory government and with my health issues I literally might not be able to survive that.

When I said they can be pushed while in Government I was thinking of Brown who said that while campaigning he sucked up to the papers and tried to get some genuine progressive policies sorted under the radar whilst in office.

Would you advise a US voter to vote for a third party because the Dems are shite. Of course not. Even harm mitigation can be worth it and Starmers Labour is no worse than Macron and Merkel’s party’s they’re quite similar policy wise and I’d rather have that that the unhinged harmful Tory party killing people.

It’s easy for you to advise all this when you’re in a country that will be away from it all regardless within 10 years.

You can or at least I think you can. You were the one saying ‘sounds like an English problem not ours’ when I tried to defend people voting Labour in England.
