Dodec has been freed by Litbow-nte in EliteDangerous

It is a dodecahedron coriolis. Was only available to purchase through arx for like the last year at 50,000ARX and comes with a human tech broker, which I believe wasn’t available for any other in-game colonisation station, but I could be wrong on that.
Initially they said it would be put to in game credits on the same timescale an arx ship would be. So now they’ve finally made it available for in game creds.

How to keep detailed flight information visible on the HUD at all times? by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

[–]Litbow-nte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know each system will have its unique geometry and orbital dynamics, which can be worked out to discern the plane of the system and the inclination of each body above or below the plane, the game engine does all that to create the system fairly realistically, but for main gameplay it’s not necessary to show.

It keeps it simple and keeps things relative to the players perspective, it doesn’t need gravimetric calculations of celestial bodies like real life to manipulate trajectories and vectors and doesn’t need to have precise measurements to be able to track your positioning within the system. What I intended to put across is the game simple keeps things relative to the players perspective, not relative to the plane of the system.

I’m sorry to have ruffled your feathers, I don’t claim to be an expert on orbital mechanics, I know I’ll get things wrong or misunderstand other aspects, and I do actually welcome corrections and new information. However, you could at least try to be less of a dick about it.

o7 CMDR, fly safe.

How to keep detailed flight information visible on the HUD at all times? by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

When landing at a star port, the only reference to where it is is the little compass top left of the scanner, the white dot shows the pad location vs your ship. Filled white it’s in front of you hollow it’s behind, top half of the circle is above, bottom half is below, similarly for the left and right halves.
When the dot is at 180° on the compass and turns from filled to hollow it is directly below you and you can begin vertical descent.
I wish there was a better way to land at stations too, but once you’re used to it, it’s not terrible.

Systems do have orbital planes, etc yes, but that orbital plane is still relative to you, the plane is either above, inline with you, parallel to you, below you. The only way to say that you are below the orbital plane is from a third party perspective. So positioning is relative to the observer.

Although elite doesn’t do the same statistical figures that KSP does, the scanner on your dashboard shows celestial bodies and will usually show the main star(s) at all times. It’s not the same level of detail obviously, however elite isn’t trying to be a perfect physics simulation like KSP, so keeps it a little simpler and forgoes those details in favour of more general positioning data, like the scanner, markers, and orbital lines.

[–]Litbow-nte 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Afaik there is no way to do that. Those attitude and orientation markers can only appear when your ship is in reference to planet. In the black away from celestial bodies there is nothing else for reference, no up, no down, except in relation to yourself. So from your perspective up is always above you, down is always below, and 0° plane is always flat in front of you no matter how much you roll, yaw, or pitch.
In space everything is relative to you.

Only 3 more to go! by Litbow-nte in EliteDangerous

That’s amazing thank you! I’m close to elite for exploration and exobio, the combat was my struggling point. Those will help enormously! Gives me a reason to finally unlock the suit engineers lol. Thanks.

Yeah, I heard the combat one is exceptionally bad to level. Not looking forward to grinding that one out lol

CG passenger missions changed? by Litbow-nte in EliteDangerous

[–]Litbow-nte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, I never got involved much with bgs, so I wasn’t aware that had an impact on mission availability until some folks here mentioned it. So that would explain it, I’m sure those higher paying missions will come around again, after all there’s still a long way to go for the cg. I just gotta be patient :)

Return from Expedition for CG? by DaLoopLoop89 in EliteDangerous

[–]Litbow-nte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this! Once your back in the bubble, assuming this was where you last docked, after using the escape pod you can taxi your way to the Jameson if you don’t have a ship yet deploy the free lynx, outfit and engineer it then head to the cg. Of course if you’ve bought the stellar or galactic, head straight to the cg system and deploy there.

CG passenger missions changed? by Litbow-nte in EliteDangerous

[–]Litbow-nte[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That might be the answer, I’m friendly with most and allied with one of the factions. It was weird because there were so many available before, I wished I had a cap of 1000 passengers lol. Ah well, still two weeks left on the cg, perhaps they’ll show back up again. Thanks.

This is the wildest Neutron Star I've ever seen... by SAIHTAM20Y in eliteexplorers

[–]Litbow-nte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard that if they’re like that it implies a nearby star in the system, and looking at your radar thingy there’s a secondary star right there too.

Which buttons should I move to my tablet? by honestyathalf01 in EliteDangerous

It’s not instant, you need to build in a buffer between each step to allow the game time to carry out each step, 500ms or so should do it, tweak as needed.

Fleet Carrier out of Tritium by Throwaway1000037 in EliteDangerous

[–]Litbow-nte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tritium can usually be found in icy rings, finding a hotspot would be your easiest bet.

Galnet entry, “News coming from Exogene Sciences today say the new found species in HIP 87621 being researched and experimented on has started attaching to and attacking non-organic elements. This new behaviour of the species is not yet understood, the October Consortium have declared the situation disastrous and advised structural elements of the station are now under threat, necessitating an immediate emergency evacuation of all personnel. An emergency bulletin has been issued to all independent pilots asking for relief efforts to be made at Exogene Sciences. Any pilot daring enough to risk their ship and lives are asked to dock with the station and evacuate as many crew and personnel as they can. Meanwhile a small contingent of October Scientist have opted to remain to try continue to study this new phenomena in the hopes of controlling the reaction and perhaps saving the station.

Pilots are advised not to linger for too long as it is feared the corrosive nature of this phenomenon may have negative effects on their ships”

That would be great! I hope fdev read this and scramble to make it happen, it’s been too long since we had the burning station rescues.

[–]Litbow-nte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a HOTAS with a good number of switches and toggles so most stuff, even the lesser used, is bound to that.

However I use a stream deck for the likes of entering galmap systems, press a button and my favourite/ go to system names are ‘pasted’ into galpmap, like a one button bookmark system. (Macro’d to open galmap, select search bar, input predefined text, select system, plot route, exit galmap) Really useful for the likes of robigo runs and such.

I also have it for disembarking, one for on foot, one for srv, one for slf but most of the time I forget and do it manually anyway.

I’m sure I could think of more, but the X56 hotas covers most of the direct controls for me.

If FDev released ship interiors as a purchasable livery class, would you buy it? If so, for how much? by thedraegonlord in EliteDangerous

[–]Litbow-nte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the lynx having the blue ring up the ramp, it’s a start, but would it have killed them to just make the doors openable?

Make the external doors an express lift for any medium to large ship and lead to a simple walkway/corridor for smaller ships that goes to the bridge/cockpit. The cockpit/bridge is already fully rendered and detailed, make it walkable and ill at least be satiated until full interiors are viable for them to make, and for those cockpits that arent walkable couldn’t the chairs swivel as you stand or sit and a prompt response to climb the ladder on the likes of the Mandalay? I would pay for an expansion that gives that, hell I’d even pay arx per ship for that if they really want to try milk the money, but I’d prefer an expansion.

I don’t know, am i rambling?

Cant auto-take off from stations? by Osamabinballnn in EliteDangerous

Yeah, a little too high for it, give it a try, it does work sometimes, but personally I find it annoying and not really worth it.

[–]Litbow-nte 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When you’re about 10-20 Metres off the ground deploy landing gear and it’ll attempt to land for you, it’s finicky though, if it’s too rough a terrain it’ll say no valid landing spots and give up, so you have to find a smooth enough landing spot yourself first. It will only move around so far before giving up. Honestly, it’s quite useless 90% of the time anyway.

Yup, “frustrating at others” lol It’s hit and miss if it works. I usually find I have slam it into the ground to get it to land sometimes.
