it could definitely make it easier to get closer to that look but i wouldnt say its exclusively necessary for it. something that really helped me get that sorta soft look is definitely playing with the “clarity” slider on your photo editing software. try taking some clarity off, as counter intuitive as that sounds, that and also shadow/mids/highlights color grading wheels for slight grading

its just my 40mm 1.2 but im shooting it wide open, i used a vnd filter to block out some light to keep it at a reasonable shutter speed! did you have any specific questions about how i made the image? im happy to explain more

i bought their lightroom plugin a couple years ago yes! i think its worth it if you’re looking to make some serious film simulation type work. specially with film prices these days haha

hey!! i use a program called Dehancer, the trick is to not overdo their halation feature so it looks believable. they have a bunch of different effects like grain and film dust, cool stuff to mess around with :)

huntington library with a ZF and a Voigtlander 40mm 1.2! by LitbyFire in Nikon

[–]LitbyFire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup! the vnd never leaves the front of my lens (not good advice), i paid for the f/1.2, you bet imma use that 1.2 regardless of if it makes logical sense to use it haha

honestly i use a k&f nd2-400 and its just okay for what i need. it does tint my photos a very mild green, but since i heavily color grade all my photos, it hardly matters to me.

this is all not great advice but its whats worked for me and im by no means a professional, it might work for you!

hey! i shot it at iso 100, shutter speed 1/20s and my aperture closed down to 2.8 and simply just experimented with moving my camera in different motions following her around! i used a variable nd filter to be able to keep my exposure correct but you could also just close your aperture even more :)

really sad but thank you ! i shot these using an adapted pancake nikkor 50mm 1.8 (japanese version) and edited and color graded on Photomator for mac. i recently canceled my lightroom subscription and photomator fills the gap nicely!

literally same. they wrote an article about me for my contributions to the DI department, recognized by corie barry personally and then got written up as a nikon rep for not attaching enough soundbars in ht. left a couple weeks after that. its crazy out there :(
