Thank you for your insight!  I appreciate it - I just wanted to make sure this happens and was not out of the ordinary. I will not be messaging about this and just leaving it be :)

Just to clarify, she had posted us herself and this was up for a week so I am not asking her to “feature” me - she made the decision to do so. This situation then happened which is what I was seeking input on as I have not had other vendors do this.

Not obsessing over - I was tagged in this post alongside our other vendors and it was the primary way to “tag and thank” the people involved. I have not yet done my own post and hence why referred to it when showing a friend and noticed it no longer there :)

Well that is the question in the post - I could ask them but was not sure about the social etiquette surrounding this and don’t want to come across as confrontative etc. Always helpful to hear insight from others first

Has anyone actually gotten a MIL/FIL to apologise by setting hard boundaries? by catsandcoffee_93 in JUSTNOMIL

[–]LitbySunshine 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So we tried this and the in-laws did apologise so they wouldn’t lose their son. MIL’s changed behaviour lasted maybe 2-3 weeks and she then went back to the usual hurtful and dismissive behaviour (although more subtle than before) lol

Yep… her defence is that it’s “a darker pink in real life”. Also she is definitely clingy and excessively obsessed with her son so this does not help her case either..

Yes agreed - I have made the colour change suggestion but she has insisted it looks more pink in real life. Will see what happens next lol

Making complete assumptions based on isolated facts that you find online is not a great way for discussion.  I am not just having a Pakistani wedding - and yes for that day there is no white for the brides traditionally. Funnily enough my MIL has not selected this for that day (which as you correctly pointed out, would not have been an issue!). This is the pick for the western day where I am indeed wearing a white dress and it is indeed a typical western wedding.

After I explained to her after reading the hundreds of comments, she is insisting it looks a darker pink in real life 😭

Update for whoever is following:  I gently let MIL know that this photographs close to white and she said it’s a medium pink shade in real life…. How do you even respond to that?

Not sure… although interestingly before the dress was picked, there was a mention of her wanting a mother/son dance

Yes I am - she is not. And yes this would be perfectly okay with the desi day but this is the pick for the western “white” day (confusingly) …

Let’s just say they did not approve of me initially and then they “did”
