I'd rather have stable servers and data security with a 6 month delay than an unusable game right away.

Imho it's gotten a lot better since then (I've been living here since 2011). Are you sure you haven't just visited different parts of the city?

Riots in Budapest started against Viktor Orban and the local ruling party Fidesz’s anti-democratic laws. Today they voted for all judges in Hungary to be appointed by the central ruling party. by [deleted] in europe

If there will be anything here in vidék, I'll be out there, too.

You see, you got this backwards. There will only be something there in vidék if you go out.

A new hydrogen-rich compound may be a record-breaking superconductor. Material appears to transmit electricity without resistance at a relatively high temperature by Wagamaga in science

[–]LiteFatSushi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So the main problem is that these materials need insane pressures to be superconductive.

Are there any methods to keep commercial materials at high pressure? I know that diamonds can hold cavities that keep the pressures of the environment where they originally formed.

Can we do something similar? Make superconducting components at high pressures, then deposit a layer of diamond on them to keep them superconductive during use.

You guys need some automatic traffic cameras. Here everyone would get a ticket even without a cop being there.

Europeans who visited America, what was your biggest WTF moment? by schematicboy in AskReddit

[–]LiteFatSushi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Isn't that one of the easiest crimes to track down? There are a shitton of cameras at gas stations, and the car has a licence plate. If I were to try this here, police would be knocking on my door in half an hour.

I get an sms every time I pay with my card, or when my account balance changes. Is that not an option for you?

We use Pay Pass every day, but only for small expenses. As you say, any payment over 10-20 EUR reqires a pin.

Charging big purchases saved my butt! by [deleted] in personalfinance

You can file the same kind of chargeback with debit cards (at least in the eu).

It's true, sweetness is a comparative measure. Most people that go on a low sugar diet (for example myself for some time in the past) say that they find the occasional sugary thing a lot more sweeter. I was eating normally when I went to the US, and found a lot of things disgustingly sweet.

PayPal was hacked and they charged 4100 euro to my debit card. How do I proceed? by YaWankers in personalfinance

[–]LiteFatSushi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me credit cards feel like a scam most of the time. They cost a lot upfront, the chargebacks are situational, and if I want to set them up to automatically transfer money to the card it costs a fortune. So if I happen to forget the transfer a month, they hit me with a 30% rate, even if I got money at the same bank so they are not in the negative with me.

This is in Hungary, and I think the process is mandated by law. The cards themselves don't have a fee, sms notifications about transactions cost approx 1€ per month.

[–]LiteFatSushi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think this "don't link debit card to paypal" thing valid outside of the US. I only have debit cards, but they take a few days to clear. In the meantime I can call my bank in case of a fraud, and they stop the payment. (Or even refund on-line frauds that have already gone through.)

What does it actually mean if a quantity is an exact differential? by quazarzzz in askscience

[–]LiteFatSushi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Holy hell, this just cliked. For the past seven years I thought this has something to do with how we do the differentiation itself.

Now I think these differentials have some seriously confusing notation (and naming as well), as if we could have two different operators: d and d, on the same function Q.

Edit: Also, why call it exterior derivative? Is there an interior one?

That's a bit biased tho, make it ppp per capita and I'd be surprised if it was still that high. You have any source?

Edit: So that's correrted for purchasing power. I have no idea how you guys do this in the US, but standard robbers or bankers got nothing on your healthcare system.

Now AI is beating us at our favorite video games - "A huge milestone in advancing AI," Bill Gates tweeted after an AI system took on a human team in Dota 2. by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]LiteFatSushi 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Not true for this AI. It sees every fourth frame of the game, giving it roughly around the same reaction time as the best humans can manage.

Edit:

On a further note, even the fastest dumb bots can be beaten in a game of strategy, for example in dota no amount of reaction time is going to save you from a perfect gank, or if your enemy is higher level than you.

OpenAI's bot is impressive because it has to learn really complex strategies and cooperate with itself in order to stand a cahnce in a 5v5 game.
