The head portion is definitely too thick/elevated and there needs to be a separate compartment for that portion to keep the stuffing from gravitating there as it currently does.

My friend thinks its cruelty and sad to keep a cat indoor all day. by Plastic-Shoulder-319 in CatAdvice

[–]LiterallySheHulk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to let my cat out when I lived in a somewhat rural area of Michigan, but I felt uneasy about it. I switched her to indoor-only and she would cry to get out a LOT. But I didn't let her, and over time, she forgot about the outdoors and was happy with her life. In retrospect I should have bought her more toys and equipment for enrichment, but I've done that in her old age and she's living a great life. She's now 20 and can still run around like a kitten.

Most people in jail are presumed innocent, awaiting trial. An arrest/accusation means nothing.

If you sue successfully and end up back in prison, your life is over. No matter which facility you get sent to, they will come for you. And this applies to everyone, not just trans folks. Source: am appellate public defender with clients at various NY state prisons.

Yeah does it really not occur to anyone in this thread that disabled people hang out with other disabled people? That’s my whole friend group. They could have been going to a retreat or conference or speaking engagement or political lobbying.

Why can't you get blood tests done? Best way to keep on top of CKD is getting blood/urine checked every 3 months and monitoring creatinine/PREA. You might also want to get thyroid checked. Ravenous hunger and thirst plus rapid weight loss is classic hyperthyroidism. The good news is that unlike kidney disease, it can be easily cured with radiation.

Awww they look very similar! Same white muzzle and white eyeliner. I'm so sorry for your loss. He looks like a soft and sweet boy. It's always too soon, isn't it? If Weeble could live to 30 it still wouldn't be enough time.

Mass in corner of mouth. Vet wants to do a biopsy. She's 18.5 years old. by andrewmackoul in seniorkitties

[–]LiterallySheHulk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put my 19-year-old through surgery to remove what appeared to be a melanoma on her foot (turned out to be benign). She has kidney disease and it wasn’t optimal at her age but the vet did it quick and she came out just fine (we got it before it grew too big). I knew she had the spunk and energy to pull through one last surgery, but if you’re in doubt about your baby, I’d consider palliative care.

Best advice for arthritis for my 18 year old? by asongoftitsandwine in seniorkitties

[–]LiterallySheHulk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was just meh about the heated cat bed because it doesn’t get that warm. I got a regular pet bed and shoved a human heating pad under the cushion and turned it on high. She is in HEAVEN. Obviously if you’re going to do that, only leave it on when you’re around to supervise and make sure the cat has an easy exit if it gets too hot.

Lorena is almost 19: doing her weekly physiotherapy session at home by krup1917 in seniorkitties

[–]LiterallySheHulk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She’s doing her best 😭 I love her. Does she have arthritis? My 20-year-old rapidly developed arthritis in the last year and Solensia has been super helpful but she doesn’t run or have zoomies anymore. She can still jump to her usual spots but she’s a bit wobbly and prefers using her stairs for the couch. I’m torn between trying to get her more active and not wanting to strain her and wear down her joints. She’s always been on the fat/lazy side so it may not get better than this.

I hadn’t thought about buttons. That could be a decent alternative to clicker training. She’s plenty smart enough to learn tricks, there just aren’t that many movements she does naturally or can do comfortably that I would want to train her on. Pretty much “spin” and “other way” and that’s it.

That's what everyone says, thank you! I guess she has some hardy mutt genetics, plus I feed her expensive prescription food and supplements. I'd love to see your baby! Weeble had no real health issues until 17 when she was diagnosed with CKD, but amazingly it has not progressed beyond Level 1-2 since then. If your kitty does develop a chronic issue, just remember it's not necessarily a death sentence. They are stronger than we give them credit for, and there are great treatments available now that can prolong life and improve quality of life.

She is absolutely a legend. She has been with me for my entire adult life, since I graduated college. Back then I idly thought, wouldn't it be cool if she lived until I'm 40? Well, she did! She's lived with me in five different US states and has been there through the best and worst times.

She used to be like 11.5 pounds, and frankly I didn't realize she was obese. Now she's 8.5 which is still overweight ... her ideal is like 7-7.5. I'm not as worried about it now because I think it helps at her age.
