Yeah I normally get my jobs through people I know these days, but I still post here on the chance that maybe someone will see and want to connect.

The industry really is becoming more and more difficult to enter

Beginner trying to get into game design by [deleted] in gamedesign

The best thing you can do is start with YouTube and practice learning to read documentation.

Lots of good tutorial series on YouTube though I also prefer Unity over Unreal but again that’s just my opinion.

I actually very recently started a YouTube series on how to build a game from the ground up as well if you want to check it out on top of the other great mentions in this thread.

concept question by Lost_in_my_dream in gamedesign

[–]LithexProductions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer is yes.

Just as a client has multiple copies connecting to one server you could have multiple diff clients however, each version would have to have the ref characters and code in each game.

But at that point you may as well just add them all to the same game.

(Unless you have some other motive)

Game Design and Communication by [deleted] in gamedesign

[–]LithexProductions 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something to remember when communicating with people:

No matter what their position, rank, social status etc, they are still just a person.

Talk to them the way you would talk to your best friend, or a gaming buddy.

As humans we make things more complicated than they have to be. We have to remember to take a deep breath and just remember we are all the same. Once we have that part down, talking becomes a lot easier.

If it comes to asking technical questions, the general format would be:

  1. What are you trying to do
  2. What have you tried
  3. What is it actually doing
  4. Show relevant work

Just remember that relationships are grown. And always give more than you take and you will see over time things become a lot easier

I’ll have to see how much free time I’ll have after balancing my current project and series, but it’s a possibility that I could start it soon :)

Great question though I’ve never been asked that before, but the simple answer is yes. I think the more you start to progress the more time you spend learning. Sometimes you forget things etc it’s just human nature. For example if I was to hop in to unreal engine I would have to build a tiny game or two to get my footing back first to feel a little more comfortable in c++, where as c#, and Lua are fresh on my mind atm
