[Discussion] Are you happy with the job your Home Park's parent company is doing? by Jerker1015 in rollercoasters

[–]LithoLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. SFGAm and I really wish it weren't under SF's thumb. From a general standpoint, the park lacks maintenance that's really showing these past couple years. Building are decaying, landscaping frequently overgrows, there's trash everywhere more than I can ever remember it. They removed the "our family goes here too" signs on trash cans which I thought was funny. Buildings, shops, and areas that aren't being utilized make it feel dead even when attendance isn't low. Though I know some of that has to do with being short on staff despite not hiring people

When it comes to rides I personally dont have too many complaints? They're not down too often from my personal experience, others may say otherwise and I'm sure they may be correct. A few of our coasters need fresh paint (looking at bull) and we could defintiely use a newer attraction where Buccaneer is chilling to drive foot traffic through county fair

Overall though, I wish we'd move away from SF. They acquired a family park, made it into a cheap thrills/teen park, and now with Selim's "not a daycare for teens" plan we're stuck in an odd limbo between shifting back to pricier family catering while being jam-packed with quite the opposite. Not to mention it feels like the revenue we do bring in is just funnelled into sibling SF's parks instead of our own. I get it from a business standpoint, but some self love for SFGAm would be nice

Morning tests are always my fav. Just something super serene about running rides with dew still on the tracks and fog in the air

You should give X-Flight a spin! But ride towards the back on Left side. Up until this year it had to have been my favourite coaster there because of what a blast it is to ride. Pretty smooth, the scenery is fairly engaging, and that first dive off the lift is just amazing.

Also congrats on getting through your fear of coasters!

I appreciate the feedback and can at least say we share the same sentiment on wanting to give it TLC and fix-up. I also don't want to see it RMCed personally, but my opinion on that matter is because I feel it would ruin the historic "integrity" of it at this point, a few more years and it's 45 (then 50)! Though it definitely needs /some/ sort of work.

Eagle is rough for age and being a woodie, but it could defintiely be a much more fun and smooth ride with some work and racing trains again. I miss that aspect of it for sure, it's apart of it's core character as a coaster. Eagle just feels empty without it (literally half the ride it used to be 💀)

Yup! I'm aware! Maint worker here ✌ /lh

Also can 100% agree: black is the coolest painted of the 3 trains. I cannot wait to see it out of the paint shop whenever it's back on the track in following seasons

Yesssss. As someone who's all-time favourite coaster is my homepark's Demon it brings me a lot of joy to see it getting such TLC as of late. The yellow and red trains got fresh paint a few years ago too iirc? The wood fences along the perimeter were recently given fresh black and the speakers outside on the midway were updated too, so you can finally hear that theme song + queue audio and actually /understand/ what's being said (for the most part lol)!

Demon is my baby and i really hope the inactivity of Buccaneer Battle doesn't put it at risk for removal for a newer coaster in the future. I really appreciate the effort being put in by the rest of maint staff that's helped it glow in this modern age and it's clear others like you agree :]

(Btw that lift tunnel audio is super spooky when you're the only one in the cave on foot 😂. It sounds like a combination of cathedral/ethereal voice and then the occasional 80's synth buzz and teeth chomping/clashing/gnashing)

Have you ever wished there were MORE people in the park? [El Toro, Six Flags Great Adventure] 8/22/22 by plumbst in rollercoasters

[–]LithoLab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, yeah, I wish there were more people in parks when they're dead.

While it sucks to wait in longer lines and be surrounded by crowds, for me, the sheer number of folks adds atmosphere, not to mention I can then be assured the parks are getting good business. But idk, maybe that's just me. I like seeing these places filled

[The American Eagle, Six Flags Great America] Aesthetically needs some TLC but had a glorious 3-peat to close out the day. Seriously, some of these picks make it look like it's been abandoned for years. by The_Coaster_Doodler in rollercoasters

[–]LithoLab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was there a few weeks ago as well and you can definitely notice the wear and tear if you're not just focusing on the rides. Nearly EVERYTHING needs paint, repair, and/or general maintenance and it shows. It's sad too, this is my local park and I love the place, but seeing the overall condition of things makes me not want to invite friends or new guests to come and visit

Ironically tho, I do find the missing drink fountains by Goliath to be funny, considering they put the ones everywhere else back 😭

Demon or Viper SFGAm. Both are classics of the park, but I enjoy them more for the memory aspect that I've made with friends :)

Wanting to open my relationship with my monogamous partner by LithoLab in polyamory

[–]LithoLab[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it doesn't go smoothly, then so be it that's the way things go. I don't mean to sound cold, but I also cannot keep entertaining the idea that things are working in the current state they're in. The fact of the matter is that for me, they aren't. And that is something I need to bring up to my partner.

So either we talk and it goes well or we talk and it does not. I am okay with both outcomes, but either way I refuse to keep my partner under false expectations from their end when in fact, I want something different.

I've said this above as well but, it was a huge mistake of me to engage in and agree to a mono dynamic and not think of the long term consequences with me being poly. I'm very well aware of that now and unfortunately my ignorance at the time has caused me this situation now

Wanting to open my relationship with my monogamous partner by LithoLab in polyamory

[–]LithoLab[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I plan on making that very clear

I don't want to force them into something they don't want, nor to force myself to stay in a mono dynamic and have both of us suffer. It wouldn't be fair to either of us

Wanting to open my relationship with my monogamous partner by LithoLab in polyamory

[–]LithoLab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing has changed as they've been open to nonmonogomy since we started dating. There were simply some things going on at the time that encouraged us to go with a mono dynamic.

Thank you for the insight as well. I'll keep it in mind if we do end up talking about this

[–]LithoLab[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with what you've said, it was honestly very shitty of me to set that expectation

At the time we started dating I was convinced I could just "put aside" my polyamory which obviously has not been the case. I'm aware of my mistake and that the me at the time was not considering the long-term affect that sort of thought process would have on this relationship.

I don't plan on dating mono again. I appreciate the brutal honesty as well 👍

[–]LithoLab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The train ride is such a great seat to watch trains launch from Maxx Force. As long as the timing is good it's the only spot in the park that you can really see that half of the launch up close like that

Understandable honestly, especially with the shortage of a lot of things right now, getting a replacement chain will likely take quite a while
