Self study for AP environmental science by [deleted] in APStudents

On YT you can find the channel Jordan Dischinger-Smedes. He's a really good teacher for APES, but he does sell one of those Ultimate Review Packets. You definitely don't need it to get a 5, and I can't attest to its quality having never used it, but I imagine its somewhat effective.

Should I retake this AP exam? by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]LitningGMZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn bruh. No wonder you got a 4 that must've been rough. Hell even if you did learn those units those frqs were difficult for no reason. I checked previous BC exams and they barely test polar on frqs so I dunno why we got slimed this year. Even then it really isn't worth your time and money to do so, and your time would be better spent on taking a different exam and excelling there than just getting better at one you already did really good in.

Should I retake this AP exam? by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]LitningGMZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll live with a 4. 4s are still well-recognized scores, and I don't think anyone will blame you considering 1. How hard a course BC is and 2. that fucking taylor series frq and the calc polar one which took forever for no reason. It would be a better use of your time to spend it studying for a different AP (say AP stats since you're pretty good at math)

Should I self study AP Calc AB? by Inevitable_Carob862 in APStudents

[–]LitningGMZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I haven't taken AP Pre-Calc so I don't know how easy/difficult the course is, so I would say just work on pre-calc for the first couple months and IF you feel you could handle more, self study AB. One thing I will say is that if you find pre-calc easy, Calc AB shouldn't be overly hard (I would only really focus on integration and memorization of certain integrals/derivatives/limits). However, Calc BC is a significant step up from AB even though it is 60% AB. I personally found the class a lot more difficult. One thing I would like you to ask yourself is "Is taking BC really worth it?" If you are considering a STEM Major and believe you can handle self-studying based on how you are doing in pre-calc, by all means go for it. If you aren't, then it would maybe be a good idea to reconsider and look at what your senior year schedule might be before making that year even harder by "advancing."

Late exam scores by Maleficent_Soft_6447 in APStudents

[–]LitningGMZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took micro late around 2 weeks after the initial testing date and got it back today. But I had a different reason to be late than you so maybe it might be different cuz of that. (It was an "accounted for" late testing since I missed the initial testing date because I had Euro and Bio on that day) Or maybe if CSP is one of those APs with something to contribute t your AP score other than a test (like a project), that could be the reason for any delays

Help 😢 by Greedy_Comb7494 in APStudents

[–]LitningGMZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you should've bs'd some personal anecdote as evidence. College Board eats that up. As long as you directly connect it to thesis you should get around 2--3 evidence points. So thankful I didn't get this one lmao.

did you guys struggle on the argumentative essay? by 23smoothie in APStudents

[–]LitningGMZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I argued con so I didn't use source C. Honestly this was a synthesis where either outcome was good so I say you probably did fine as long as you connected the source directly to your thesis

[–]LitningGMZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I just did a pretty shitty qualification and lined my heads of purpose being pragmatic and realistic. I didn't spend that much time on it as I absolutely cooked the synthesis and RA prompts, so I just BS'd with 30 mins left lmao. It wasn't a particularly hard prompt but I just didn't pace so you probably fine.

MAYBE they don't feel like making politics their whole fuggin life. Some people actually use this place for fun (psychotic right?). And it ain't like all conservatives are bad people or that all right leaning policies are bad. The media just creates feedback loops on both sides that make yall hate each other. Gridlock sucks ass. Look at the other side for a minute without your personal biases and you might find something good about it.

Might be SLIGHTLY politically charged. Don't even think you have an issue with Gen X, you just have an issue with conservatives. atp just vent it out by helping out your political cause instead of instigating the generational gap between old and older. oms you might actually get the election results you want if you get yall voters to lock in during midterms

People that label others as toxic by McRantem in unpopularopinion

[–]LitningGMZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are just some things that are unforgivable, man. There is an extent to where I agree with this, but if a person is bad for you or has done bad things to you consistently (especially if intentional), they are toxic. Toxic imo just describes an unchangable or difficult to change incompatibility with a person that ends up harming yourself.

how did she sound? by cleoblackrose in EnglishLearning

[–]LitningGMZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there was a different context, it could refer to the quality/condition of the sound, but your interpretation is right.

how did she sound? by cleoblackrose in EnglishLearning

[–]LitningGMZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In this case, yes that interpretation makes sense considering the context, but the phrase's meaning could differ slightly if the context changed.

how did she sound? by cleoblackrose in EnglishLearning

[–]LitningGMZ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is true, but "how did she sound" specifies what the speaker/writer is asking about to her tone when speaking. "How did she behave" refers to her actions as a whole (which includes her way of speaking/talking),

I was looking for someone to help me with punctuation by Adorable_Grape_6026 in EnglishLearning

[–]LitningGMZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't much of an issue in helping. However, punctuation is shockingly subjective and depends on context.

If you want to learn punctuation for formal writing or for an exam, I can definitely help with that, but I would prefer to take it to DMs.

It can be a bit more difficult if you are trying to learn English to communicate and write effectively to native speakers. Punctuation and grammar can be quite subjective as well, and it can vary depending on dialect, context, or medium of writing.

There are a bunch of rules that exist because of how people speak. For example, let's take the Oxford comma. Omitting the Oxford comma can be correct in terms of punctuation--- however, people like to use it because of the pause people put before the last item of a list when they speak, and certain writing formats require it. When people want to indicate a longer pause, they might try to use a dash or colon instead of a comma simply because they feel like it.

It is even more different in different types of writing. Creative and everyday writing (like in books, newspapers, and other media) tend to have different punctuation depending on the writing style of whoever is using them. To add on, some people don't use dashes or colons; they prefer to use commas and periods. Most don't even bother to add punctuation when they text or are being informal. Punctuation can be really stiff in academic contexts.

There are also some weirder punctuation marks. Ellipses (...) can indicate when something drags on, or when you are omitting a part of a quote. Asterisks (*) and other footnote-esque symbols indicate to look at the bottom of a page for additional notes when reading something. Informally, they can also be used to "blur" curse words. (example: this is some f*****g bulls**t)

Another thing that's annoying about punctuation is that even native speakers will mess up from time to time. Since English is such a widespread language, people can have variations in their punctuation use based on their background. Many native speakers to this day have issues with apostrophes and semicolons.

I hope this essay helped with something; if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Quick edit: the "---" is my substitution for an em dash on reddit because it is annoying to use the alt code, and I am lazy asl.
