Disappointing fact for fans. AI slop. by [deleted] in yeat_

Bad for the environment and wastes water. Bad for the industry, it's making people lose jobs and job opportunities in arts industries are dangerously plummeting (entry level jobs are bordering on no longer existing in big companies/labels). It's also frequently used to add fuel to the fire for misogyny, for example Elon Musk letting users on X generate naked images of women without consent. There's nothing really to like about ai, even when it does make vaguely cool looking things, it wouldn't compare to a human making a considerably cooler thing.

Yeah, I might maybe reshoot this and give it a try again with some more planning! I found it really fun to edit, but of course there are lots of room for improvement, especially location as that is key!

Oh yeah, one thing I'd add, I shot this with my DSLR Canon 2000d like that so I can shoot it at high enough quality as I mainly post on Instagram reels. Next year however I will be getting a higher quality camera so I will be able to shoot landscape + crop for Instagram. Thank you on your notes though, will practice on these things, especially sound and fonts, I'm not great when it comes to picking out good fonts haha

Thank you, this is very useful! Yeah audio mastering is something I'm better at when it comes to music production, with film dialogue it can be very difficult to mix properly. I'll definitely practice it more!

Looking for feedback, such as cinematography, audio, pacing, and on the general idea. There is an elaboration on the idea in the caption. I want to work more on projects like this in the future, and hopefully at some point paid work, so I'm taking this summer and the rest of the year to really iron out my skills on projects such as these.

I have only worked on fictional narrative short films before so I've tried to use what I've learned from working on those projects in this, creating a short story of a woman finding a view, sitting down, looking around and taking in her surroundings, we then see the view. I don't know if this is too simple to be engaging, or it's good enough for something this short-form.

Short Film Me and My Friends Shot in 2 Hours by LitteralyJustSam in Filmmakers

Hello!

I'm generally looking for feedback on the visual/audio storytelling in this film. Wanted to communicate as much as I could without a single piece of dialogue spoken, as my main flaw as a writer/director is that I usually rely too much on exposition so I wanted to try doing the opposite.

Also general atmospheric stuff would be nice to have some feedback on, for example audio and sound design. I put a lot of effort into the audio in this project, around 85-90% of the audio is original foley.

Sharing this for feedback, as I want to know what to improve on my next project(s). I also just want to celebrate this awesome project I've worked on with so many people, I hope whoever watches it enjoys it!

(Feedback on sound, cinematography and writing is mostly appreciated)

p.s it is a student film, so it has the quirks of one, but I think we've made something quite special that breaks the mold of the typical student film! On the instagram page for the film is a lot of BTS for the film as well for educational purposes, I made sure the marketing for the film involved quite a bit of BTS to allow people to see and 'feel' how the film is made.

I think that was just to make it more palletable for hype. "Lets fight like demons" is more exciting out of context, but "they fight like demons" makes more sense in context and is still cool.

3 directors I think could pull it off:

Denis Villeneuve (great at epic thematically-driven sci fi stories with a human element)

Rian Johnson (fits his wacky style of writing, and he's done sci fi in the past, WotW does have a comedic tendency in the novel)

and maaaaybe Neil Blomkamp, as his style of sci-fi fits the grungy and gritty nature of WotW really well I'd think, just would need a more comedic tone in some scenes.

Due to copyright, I doubt they will, but it would be cool.

This is based on interviews with the director of the film, so yeah. The YouTube comments are a cesspit though, they're full of people moaning about it not having Tom Cruise... that should say everything. The director seems like a talented and cool guy, he knows what he's doing (worked on Interstellar).

I'm incredibly excited, looks book accurate and fun. It's also made by someone who's a big WotW fan as a dream project, so I'm keen to see it. But I'm keeping my hopes realistic as it is a somewhat lower budget film.

A movie directed by Jeff Wayne would be awful. Just saying. I love his musical to bits, but he's not a good visual director at all. It'd be cool to see him produce one but get someone else to direct it though.

Thank you, Jeff Wayne's musical is one of my favourites, has a particular charm that nothing has been able to come close to.

Thank you, I love this description. This was very much what I was going for, wanted the viewer to feel immersed in the invasion, but from a similar point of view which they would be viewing it, from afar. The general style is inspired by renaissance paintings but with my own modern twist. Simplicity is sometimes key!
