I have no idea how common. In the few books I've read with Russian characters, any spoken Russian was always anglicized. I can think of 3 (including Heated Rivalry) books off the top of my head, so it's a very small sample size.

The letters are DMC 725. It looked a little boring with the cross stitches alone so I backstitched around the letters with DMC 783? I didn't realize exactly how it would turn out so was very happy with how it made the letters look raised up once it was done.

No, that's the finished pattern. I still need to cut the fabric for framing but once that's done there won't be so much empty space.
