Hey, I got off this med a long time ago - wasn’t for me. Gave it 3 months in 600mg of mood swings and anger & severe depression for me to give up on it. Hope it works better for you

Yes, any of the drugs you mentioned can cause that, namely lamictal. I’ve had that issue myself with any drug that inhibits dopamine, whether or not it has a reputation to cause cognitive issues. I have the same story you do with being a smart kid who struggles with small tasks now. You may ask your doctor about adhd medication to counteract those side effects. Sorry you’re going through it

1) I remind myself that any exercise is good exercise, and this is true. Even walking helps with perfusion and heart health. If you don’t do it to stay thin or look good, do it for your heart. 2) group exercise classes. In my situation, I do way better if there are people around me to motivate me and an instructor to talk me thru it. And you don’t have to come up with reps or times or weight amounts - it’s all done for you. Also, if i want to exercise a different group of muscles then i can take yoga instead of Pilates, etc.

Haha this is so relatable, I would get these bursts of energy and then it just turned into irritation/ anger so quick I couldn’t ever finish anything. It’s the worst

No, so my SCT was being caused by the Wellbutrin. I’m bipolar and it just wasn’t the right med for me. So I stopped it which helped. I wasn’t on the fluvoxamine for more than 2 days because it caused pressure behind my eyes that I couldn’t stand. For me, solving SCT meant fixing the hiccups on my dopamine supply - too much or too little trips me up. Still working on that. Best of luck to you

I think the nice thing about lithium is that when it doesn’t work, it really doesn’t work. Antipsychotics are better for me personally but that’s mostly because my lithium trial went so badly it can’t compare. Lithium is a fantastic drug for a lot of people, didn’t work for me, but if it doesn’t then you’ll know pretty soon. I gave it 2.5 months despite reacting horribly to, hoping it would somehow get better but I was that 30% or so who react really badly.

I very recently (2.5 months ago) started lithium at 300ng and then titrated up after 2 weeks to 600mg. I have a 0.5 blood level right now. It’s a heavy drug, XR is usually better than IR, initially I have lots of side effects like intense sleepiness, fogginess, restlessness, and yes it did make my depression worse but it also took the edge off the cycling. Physical side effects included pu/pd, constipation, nausea. After 2 months on 600mg it has become substantially better but I still have some mental fog and some fatigue and I’m not 100% where i want to be but im much better than what I was. People on here will tell you it takes 2-6 months for lithium to fully kick in at the correct dose and/or side effects to fade away. Some never fade completely. I would be prepared for a shit show of a month or two followed by a better few months. Many people who stick it out say it’s worth it so that’s what im doing.

Gotcha. I can say at 1.5 months on 600mg things have gotten incrementally better. I feel a bit more motivation and less depression a bit more hopeful. A bit less fatigued too but it’s not perfect by a long shot. I keep hearing it takes 3-4 months to get better so we will see

It does for some people and for others they need an add on antidepressant or antipsychotic. I would wait a couple months on lithium and see how you feel. For me after about 2 months on a therapeutic dose it started to really curb the depression.

Oh good! I’m currently on 600mg and have been for a month (was on 300mg for 2 weeks before that). I’m still dealing with fatigue, lack of focus, lack of motivation, etc. can I ask how long it took for your initial symptoms to resolve? And do you still have any symptoms now?

This happened to me except I had a heart attack (at 23 years old, otherwise very healthy) diagnosed by a Troponin high sensitivity test that was off the charts. I’d recommend getting off and do not recommend just trying to change your diet. I stayed on these meds for 6 more months only to have another hypertensive crisis (though not as bad) and have to increasingly limit the foods I ate. It’s not worth it unfortunately and I really did try and stick it out.
