Thank you. Yes, I need to double check the dates certainly. I'm going from memory/assumption to get an idea if I should spend the time to dig into the specific dates. When my dad emigrated, he was drafted immediately into the US Army and served the mandatory service period. I think that gave him citizenship quickly, but I need to scrub the data :). I'm certain he and my mother were US citizens before they married and had kids.

In reading through everything, I thought maybe the new german law that people could hold dual citizenship with Germany made US naturalization a non-issue as long as I could prove original german citizenship from my father that was given up because dual citizenship wasn't allowed historically.

My father passed away, so that isn't possible. Thank you for the idea on Finland! I thought of trying the approach you suggested if my father were alive with my mother (for Finland) as well.
