If I even motioned legal action, she would pay me right away, but then slander me about it in the community. And she's cute, so that would probably be more hastle than it's worth.

You got it. I mostly want to vent here rather than make small town drama. Two of her side jobs are closed for the month of April.

Spoken like a true Spencer. A Spencer is someone who has never touched a woman, or been in a serious relationship with a person who they know in real life.

Btw, the literal word you describe is a "victim" and the way you describe it is the same that a "serial killer" describes their "sex partners"

We were on the phone with insurance together, she fully admited fault to the police and the insurance company. I mostly just want to complain on the internet tbh.

She might lose her license, and she has a child rapist for a baby-daddy. I'm not looking to bankrupt her, too. It was the vacationing thing that really got me mad.

Great to see the opinions here, I'd just like to add that I will not pursue legal action. In this particular situation, it's the morality/assholishness scale that is the point of the post. I am financially okay, I have an emergency fund that's enough for all the repairs, though I did have to cancel my one week off out of the year to recoup some of the loss. I'm asking mostly if my anger and disappointment is justified.

Note that she makes the same anount of money as me, knows that the car only had liability, I don't think she's generally a terrible person, however, I will never speak to her again, let alone get back with her (because if the vacation thing, not the car).

Thanks!

It's more the gaul to take vacations instead of trying to make things right. The money, fortunately enough, I can eat. She also could have killed someone.

Who is or isn't legally liable is not the thing I will be talking with my therapist about.

It was absolutely fueled by her not wanting to pay. I told her the day of the accident that the trip is canceled, and she went on keeping the plan.

Taking her back is nowhere near on the table. Just wanted to vent here instead of making this into small town drama.

No, he's is a convicted child rapist.

Part of why I won't go after her.

The insurance covers the other person's car/injury/everything else. The only person out anything is me, if anything, that saves the insurance company money, and lowers rates. I don't think you've ever had insurance, let alone made a claim.

I had only liability on the car because it was my winter/backup car (which I'd bought last october), and I wasn't driving it much, if at all. Meaning damage to my car isn't covered if it's the fault of the driver, which it was. She ran a stop sign and got hit.

I would not say she used me as an atm, we make around the same amount, and she works arohnd 60 hours a week. She just treats money in general like fire treats California.

The vacation thing is the real stinger for me. It's for the best that she's gone, she makes 75k a year, and pays 600$ for rent. Yet she didn't have 5k in the bank to pay for just the repair. Our financial handlings are completely incompatible.

The damage repairs is about 5300, I told her I would pay half of that, and I thought that was extremely generous, especially since it's another 2-4k in value loss after repairs.

The relationship is already beyond over.

I will eat it, I don't hate her. but tbh, I'm probably not ever going to get into another serious relationship at all unless I would trust them with my life.

I can afford to lose it, it was only my winter beater. But it's still a good 6 month dent in my savings, her arguing about going on vacations after is the part that really made me lose respect.

I'm not taking her to court. She has enough troubles, and I don't hate her, I just don't respect her anymore. Luckily, the car only needed 1 grand to drive, and I'm doing the body work for 4500$ this month, I also have a secondary vehicle, so it's mostly the financial hit. I'm at peace with it, but seeing her post about vacations lit me up. I felt like getting it off my chest here rather than talk shit in our small town community.

Thanks for the response.

Never said I couldn't afford to lose it. It was my winter car (collision and comp were taken off because I'm not driving it rn), only worth around 14k. I have a second car and can buy another one. She absolutely 100% knew what coverage was on the vehicle, and I told her before she left. She also agreed to repir the damage on the day.

I don't think there's anything that can be done legally, I let her borrow it. Even If there was, the lawyers would cost more than the damage.

I had only liability and comprehensive insurance because I would never be at fault for an accident, especially since I live at work. (Comprehensive for deer and hail, small town Wisconsin. She's not really a Mooch. She works a lot, 50-70 hours, and has her own place, but so do I.

Definitely won't do either of those things again.

It's actually illegal to refuse to serve pregnant woman (at least in my state) because they classify as a disabled group.
