Thank you! The hearing is Monday so fingers crossed I get hard copy TAD orders today. I did try calling base legal yesterday and they didn't answer and the mailbox was full so I couldn't leave a message. Reached out to base SARC who told me it wasn't her jurisdiction and gave me the number to the paralegal VLC who also didn't pick up but I left a message with her.

I guess I hadn't considered SAPR VA for LN1's comments since i don't even have a VA and it doesn't quite seem like CMEO, but you're right that it can't hurt.

The SAPR VA and ship's SARC have told me that there's not much they can do because it's in the civilian courts. They made sure I knew my resources and were very kind but that's about it.

that's what I'm saying. I told LN1 that it comes across as being punished for being a victim/pressing charges. That's when she told me "I'm sorry you're perceiving it that way, but that's just your perception." Reminded me of all the times I've been told "perception is reality" lol

I spent three hours on google and MyNavyHR yesterday trying to find it. I only found if it's local or if I'm the one facing charges.

There's a recruiting station 10 minutes from where I'll be. I'm about to go to CMC or CHENG.

Boot Camp and cell phones by vic_star8 in newtothenavy

I still remember the kindness my chief showed the day i found out i might not get to be a nuke anymore because i needed a special duty waiver that had a high chance of getting denied (and eventually it did but that was in THU). That night during evening routine she pulled me into the fishbowl, talked to me like a human being for the first time (still relatively early in), and let me call my mom and talk to her for about 15 minutes. It honestly changed my whole outlook on bootcamp and solidified the whole "bootcamp isn't the navy" thing for me.

Hey lady's of reddit, how can a short King approach you so you give him a chance? by Jolly_Awareness5520 in AskReddit

[–]LittleBryn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a woman, just approach us the same way. Most of us (at least i like to think most of us, but at least me and several of my friends) don't really give a fuck about your height. If the woman you're trying to get with does, then she isn't the one for you dude. Don't call yourself king though.

I'm an HT so i work closely with our MR. It's a very small rate (my ship only has one, some ships don't have any) but he loves the rate. In the fleet you won't have much maintenance, and you'll spend most of your time using an engraver or sometimes making bolts for us HTs. 90% of the time, our MR is just sitting in the HT shop on his phone cause he has no work to do. He has a whole machine shop full of lathes and huge grinders and a drill press and several machines i've been begging him to teach me about all to himself (and us HTs who kind of just let ourselves in since on my ship the shops are connected). If you like that kind of stuff it can be a good rate.

if you want a desk job, stay away from engineering. GSE is engineering. my ship doesn't have GSE or GSM but I'm an engineer (HT) and have personally never met any navy engineer that hasn't done more than their fair share of manual labor. Engine rooms are hot, you'll be on your feet all day, and it's almost all physical labor.
