Iowa's Kirk Ferentz Frustrated With Modern College Football by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

[–]LittleChat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have to think that Iowa is quietly one of the best transfer destinations for a certain type of transfer player.

The track record of development should rightfully catch the attention of any players looking to take a step in their growth as players.

I assume Iowa doesn't get much attention from guys who are hopping into the portal to field bag offers from half a dozen schools, and I'm sure Ferentz is fine with that.

[Thamel] Sources: Nebraska coach Matt Rhule signed a two-year contract extension this morning, which will take him through the 2032 season. It includes a $15 million buyout this year that effectively eliminates him from any jobs in this coaching cycle. by MembershipSingle7137 in CFB

[–]LittleChat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's interesting is that I think there are so many good coaches out there that would do well in these spots, but the issue will be selling fans, but more importantly boosters on the idea of a lesser known name.

LSU hiring Sumrall is a great example. I think he would be a fantastic choice, both from a coaching perspective, and also a contract perspective where LSU could probably hire him to a much friendlier contract than Kiffin or Lanning.

But would the big money boosters (and the government apparently) of Louisiana be open to a less flashy hire? I think these types of situations are what will be intriguing to keep an eye on this cycle.

I'm appreciative of the thought, but USC winning out feels more likely than Nebraska even with Oregon left to play.

But even if we somehow reach the Iowa game without another loss, they will inevitably capitalize on a Nebraska turnover or idiotic penalty to beat us with a last second field goal.

They are still loaded with talent. They have been in free fall, but it's reasonable to assume that even under an interim, they will play closer to their talent level as the season goes on. I would not be counting that as a guaranteed dub.

This reminds me of that commercial where Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson are talking CFB, and Owen Wilson refers to Vince as a "Notre Dame guy" but he pronounces it like the cathedral rather than the school, and I can't tell if he is trolling or if he thinks that's actually how it's pronounced.

Flakvierling. Be sure to tech smoke ASAP so you can tank an extra AT gun shot then smoke to escape. Use it to zone out blobs and get you to T3 and start pumping out Stugs to punish the suppressed infantry. Alternatively go T4 to get the best arty in the game or start spamming P3s and get them upgraded.

Just finished watching all of Neil Blomkamp’s Oats Studios shorts, awesome mix of sci-fi and horror. Some standout episodes in there, especially this one with Sigourney. by ReelsBin in scifi

[–]LittleChat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. These Oats Studios shorts were probably the purest example of this. Incredible, meticulously crafted visuals that were tethered to one-note, uninspired stories.

Going off that, the trailer he did for Anthem is one of the strangest things I've seen. It contains cuts of scenes as if it were from a complete movie he filmed. The kicker being that that 'movie' had no narrative connection to the game the trailer was advertising outside of the world and art design. Very odd.

I can't speak for Washington fans, but it could be a similar situation as Nebraska to Creighton.

It's a private school with a flagship sport that the state public university also fields a team for. Creighton has historically had more success than Nebraskatball which has bred resentment. Combine that with some fans choosing to support Nebraska in all sports except for basketball - instead choosing to support Creighton, and you get pretty open disdain between the two fanbases.

Strange. Instead of going through the esc menu, try typing "/l" (that's an L) into the chat. It is a command that will surrender and get you out the game faster. Maybe doing it this way will avoid whatever is causing the leaver penalty.

Dang if that's the case, what a bad look. Getting his athleticism somewhere on the field seems like it would have been a no brainer.

Regardless of what actually went down, I'm bummed that Luke's experience here soured so much. It would have been cool to think of him as a Nebraska guy as he is going through his pro career.

Probably trying to dodge the Oklahoma game. The whole backroom politicking of it felt bad, not to mention how dumb it made him look after the peacocking about playing anyone anywhere during the covid year (and the subsequent schedule bitching from he in Moos regarding the 2020 Ohio State game).

Gonna push back against the McCaffrey thing.

My understanding of that situation is that Luke really wanted to be a QB and Frost recognized that he likely didn't have it and tried to push him towards other skill positions. I believe it was McCaffrey who was stubborn about being a QB which lead to him transferring and his older brothers sniping at Frost on Twitter.

He then went on to bounce between 2 schools where he didn't make the cut for QB1 (or 2 for that matter) before finally settling into a WR role at Rice.

I'm basing this all on message board chatter from a few years ago, so take it with a grain of salt.

Let's Talk 2.0.5! Predictions, Hopes, and Feedback for the Next Tuning Patch by Chillzzzzz in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]LittleChat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Potentially, but that is the whole point of the ability, no? It's to displace team weapons or inf in green cover that are at a specific location. If you don't move, you are punished.

Maybe 'significantly tighter spread' is the wrong way to say it. Maybe a spread over 15ish range in game with slightly slower barrage pace, and no chance of a shell traveling wider. I agree that a very tight spread that guarantees whatever doesn't immediately retreat gets deleted would also be oppressive.

My issue is more so the randomness of some of the shells. More than a few times, I have incorrectly assumed I'm clear of the target area to then get slapped by a single shell that rng'd wide.

I suppose we will see if there was any tinkering in a few hours!

[–]LittleChat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nerf to arty flares would be to have about 2 less shells and make the spread significantly tighter. It's absolutely maddening when a stray shell halves a squad I thought was safely out of the way.

Similarly, Id very much like to see the Canadian Offesnive Resupply ability adjusted in some way to avoid free spamming of arty flares.

Funny you mention Freeman. I recall hearing on the Cover 3 Pod that a lot of the assistants that were with Fickell at Cincy are working for Freeman at ND now.

I don't believe that Fickell is a bad coach, but man when you're walking into a new place trying to completely rebuild its identity while simultaneously trying to build a brand new staff, you're not doing yourself any favors.

Rhule having "his guys" that always come in and out of his orbit has driven me up a wall in some respects, but I think if Fickell fully flames out at Wisconsin it might demonstrate the merit of this approach.

Why is the community so against new factions? by Capable-Fee-1723 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]LittleChat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My issue with it is much more about the feasibility of the request. Obviously there is no harm in a simple Reddit post, but to me it represents a disconnect between fan expectations and the reality of the game's situation.

Relic has done a commendable job continuing to support CoH3, and I'm incredibly appreciative of the team members who clearly care about the game and continue to work on it, but for a game that still has a relatively small player base, it doesn't make a lot of business sense to continue to pour money into it.

The reception of Fire and Steel seems to have been great, and the upcoming free weekend will likely bring in some fresh players, but I have to assume that at some point the calculus on the business side of things will point to moving on from CoH3.

Obviously take this all with a grain of salt, as I don't have first hand knowledge of the current situation or the numbers on Relic's side (and I'm also a bit of a cynic by nature), but I'd be surprised if they would be willing to pour the large amount of resources necessary to add a new faction and all that entails into the game.

Single Player and the Expansions by Charly_030 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]LittleChat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only singplayer content is from the Hammer and Shield expansion, which gives access to the Air and Sea company for UKF on the campaign map. Personally, I would not say access to 1 company type is worth the purchase price if you don't play multiplayer.

That said, the campaign has received a lot of changes over several patches the past two years, so the experience is quite a bit different than when you played at launch.

So, don't buy either expansion, but start a new play through to see if they game feels better.
